My doctor has asked me to go on the pill for years. I'm married, and not really interested in it to prevent pregnancy-I can use condoms. I am simply on it for medical reasons since I have heavy periods with cramping, constantly get ovarian cysts, and I'm anemic. I am trying to hang in there, but I've had my period for two weeks straight now and this is my third week of pills. I take it at 7pm, but every morning I get up with horrible stomach pain regardless of what I eat or if I eat even anything. I know it has to be this pill. I really don't want to stop this one just to start another pill with another list of side effects. Any advice to when the abdominal pain will go away?

I am on my first week of the second month with femcon, I am undecided about this pill, I used to never get severe headaches, now I am getting about 1 per day. I am nauseated unless I am eating for about 10 hrs after taking the pill. My doc prescribed this pill for me because I was having hot flashes. (i am 25, to soon for hot flashes) I feel like I did when I first starting taking my first pill years ago. Bloating the week before my periods starts, on my old pill the week I was having my period I would have diarrhea when I ate, with this pill it seems to be the week after my period. The nausea is really like it was when I first started on the pill (7 yrs ago). I normally do not have a squeamish stomach but now....I am going to give this pill the 3 months to let my body adjust. Then I may be requesting a new pill. We will see

I've been taking Femcon for about three months now, and while I haven't noticed 'typical' side effects i.e. weight gain (I've actually lost weight), moodiness/PMS, breast tenderness, etc., I've had my period THREE times in one month. They've been true periods, too, complete with cramps and fatigue. It's so frustrating.

I've also experienced a severe UTI while taking this pill; I thought it was due to sex, but upon reading an earlier post I can't help but wonder if it was from this pill. The pain was horrific, and I have a high pain threshold. I went to urgent care and had to have my boyfriend drive because I was in such severe pain. It felt like I had thrown my back out (pain was centered in my lower back).

I've been on and off birth control since I was 17 - for 6-7 years I took Ortho Tricyclen with no side effects, then the patch (which I absolutely HATED), and now have been trying different pills (Tricyclen, Tricyclen Lo and Femcon) to see what works best for me (I'm now 29) since I plan to take the pill continuously again.

Overall, I'd highly recommend Ortho Lo. I felt great, didn't appear to gain any weight and it made my period very light and as pleasant as possible (if that is possible!). Unfortunately, there is no generic for Lo and with insurance it's still $50/month. However, it's worth the extra money....I mean, who wants to perpertually bleed and feel like crap? Not me.

I've been on Femcon FE for exactly four days. Thus far my only irritation is a constant headache (annoying but not painful) and slight nausea.. I'm a teacher, and therefore cannot decide if my fatigue is due to the pill or my job?! So far, no moodiness (actually more energetic), no bloating, no depression, etc. Sounds like we're all experiencing different/similar signs, but all the doc's say "it will improve".

Not sure if this helps, but my doctor suggested taking the brown pill every three days along with the white pill. I also take my pill with dinner as to avoid nausea during the day.

Ive been on Femcon fe for about 4 months, I was without a period for like 6 months prior to this. The docs then put me on a medication to start my period and then Femcon to keep it regular. This was all done to find out if there was a need to have surgery on the fibroid that is on my uterus. I have experienced the worse migraines in my life on this pill. I get them on and off every hour. The really bad ones leave my right side of my face and arm to where I cant move it. I can barely open my eyes and when I can, the vision is blury. Right now I dont have a migraine, but by the time I finish, im sure I will. They come that regular. I take esgic for the migraines but it does not help. The migraines are too strong. My sex drive has increased a lot since I got on this pill. But what I have trouble with is when i am about to have a orgasm, I get a very BIG migraine. Its very umcomfortable and I am going to contact any office I can find about this pill. My doctor has told me to stop taking this pill b/c of the complications it has caused in my body. I use to have hair down to my shoulders, but now all of my hair comes out in my hand or the comb or brush. I have patches of hair missing in my head and the longest my hair is now is about a inch or two. When I wake up in the morning, its like Im in the early stages of pregnancy. I feel sick to the stomach and light headed. I take my pill right before bed. Ive also experienced a little depression, but not much. I know how you ladies feel and I hope that one day, we can find a good birth control. Thank you.
