I can't believe that after months of searching for an answer to my daughter's health problems I may have found it! My daughter was a healthy, active happy child until recently. She is 17 and started experiencing joint, bone and muscle pain and swelling, unexplained rashes, migraines, tingling in her hands and feet and was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic synchrony (heart rate and bp out of synch) shortly after her first shot (she was 14).

We have been to a rheumatologist for the joint pains, they did blood work and there is a marker for some sort of auto immune disorder, but nothing specific.

I never connected the dots to the shots. In January of this year she started having severe diarrhea, stomach and intestinal pains. She has no energy, the most basic activities wear her out. We ended up at a gastroenterologist looking for a diagnosis (they thought it was Crohn's or lupus). All the tests have come back negative, they said she had gastritis and blew us off. She is on medicine for the intestinal pain, a prescription for an antacid for gastritis and an anti-inflammatory for the joint and bone pain.

She was a straight "A" student up to January and has had to finish her junior year at home. It has been a very stressful experience for all of us.

My daughter began having severe headaches and dizzy spells after her sequence of Gardasil shots in late 2007. We've had her to the family doctor, a neurologist, an ENT, and multiple Emergency Room visits. All the tests (CT Scans, MRI's, blood work) have come back normal. While we're thankful for that, we're left frustrated and scared.
I was assured by her pediatrician and our OB/GYN that this vaccine was completely safe. I am now beginning to have my doubts, and am scared to death of what may come next; or that she's going to suffer like this indefinitely.

My daughter is 17, had her 3rd Gardasil shot July 2008. She is not one to take naps and is now taking daily nap and going to bed 1 - 2 hours earlier than she ever has before. She came to me a week ago and told me that she just does not feel good and wanted to know why....could she go to the doctor. Of course I scheduled an appt...the dr questioned her of her symptoms and sent her for blood work check for mono, anemia, thyroid. Talked with the dr today and ALL of her blood work came back Great! dr tells me that all of her levels could not be better. So I ask could this be a side effect of the Gardasil vaccine? Of course he tells me that no there should not be any side effects this long after having had her last shot in July of 2008. So I ask what to do next....long pause....well it might be a virus that is trying to surface....I replied with one that has taken 6 weeks to surface? Again long pause...So I ask the dr what else could be done....he simple said he did not know...this is unacceptable to me! I had a very vital young lady living at my house now have a lifeless young lady with dark circles under her eye living at my house....and to think I thought I was being a good mom having her get the vaccine to prevent cancer not knowing that I was going to take the life out of her....I am just sick for the choice I made for my daughter! Please do not subject your beautiful daughters to this vaccine!

My 15 year old daughter had her second shot 2/5/09. She has fainted twice, and once had seizure like episode. All her muscles seemed to tighten on her, her breath became short, she was crying out in pain, but remembers none of these things. They ran tests (EKG, CAT, blood work) in the ER that showed no reason for concern and diagnosed her with syncope. After researching (a little too late) this drug and other's reactions I am convinced this drug is causing these health concerns. She is sick to her stomach and experiences tingling in her hands and arms. Her muscles hurt, her back hurts, and two weeks ago she was a model of health. She is feeling better in the last two days and we are praying for a full recovery - however, we will not let this rest until we have answers. Please keep posting and spreading the word! If Gardasil is as bad as it appears we must band together and get it off the market!!!

I posted a short one, would like to add to it. My daughter was taken by ambulance twice last week to the ER, after having violent seizure like episodes. On second visit, she had several while we were waiting to be seen. She spent 5 days in the hospital, having these episodes as few as 10, as many as 30. lasting any where from 4 minutes to 40. She screams out in pain. It's like her entire back, including arms, legs, hands, feet are having a severe muscle spasm at that same time. If you look up dystonia, the definition fits. Dr. said it was too severe for that diagnosis. They ran EEG, EKG, Cat Scan, MRI, X-ray, extensive blood and urine work, video for 24 hours, with EEG. Everything was normal. DR decided it was stress and anxiety. Released from hospital still having episodes. I called a dystonia specialist in Maryland, she asked if she had the GARDASIL shots. Said it sounded like a side effect she had heard of. Well, after reading all these blogs, youtube, I believe it's the GARDASIL causing her problems. I knew it wasn't stress & anxiety. We are currently detoxing with ionizing foot baths, gluten free diet and meds from Health food store, called HMD-Heavy Metal Detox. I feel we are moving in the right direction. My daughter is a cheerleader, dancer and honor student. She just wants her life back. It has been on hold for 2 weeks now. I consider her one of the lucky girls, after reading many blogs. God Bless each and everyone of you. Sign the petition to stop hurting our girls.

Hi.. I'm 18 years old and I have experienced strange side effects that myself and my mother believe is from the Gardasil shot. I had the first shot over the summer, and for weeks after noticed that I was experiencing a rapid hair loss. Knowing that I was anemic I kind of just brushed off the thought and just tried not to pay attention. My doctor put me on iron pills to boost my iron levels, and i also began eating healthier. So, slowly the hair loss became not a noticeable. Then in the fall I got my second shot. And, weeks after my hair loss began again.. except worse this time. I found myself crying myself to sleep and spending hours on end looking up information on the internet. Finally it hit me that it must have something to do with the Gardasil shot. My mom took me to get blood work for anemia.. and it had improved.. so that couldn't be the cause of the hair loss. Well, now its late winter and i have not gone back for the third shot.. and actually things have gotten better. My hair loss is not as much and though my hair has thinned out quite an amount, its not the most of my worries anymore. I just wanted to put it out there that if things got better for me, then hopefully they can for everyone else as well. I'm looking to find better dieting to help improve everything, but the doctors deny it being from the Gardasil at all. I don't believe them.

My daughter is 14, 3 or so weeks after her 2nd shot she got a yeast infection that would not go away, she also go thrush at this time because the yeast in her body was so bad. She got her 3rd shot the in Sept 2008 and on Oct 26 th she got virus like symptoms with headache nausea dizziness tunnel vision that will not go away. She has had an MRI, CT scan, blood work and been to the hospital 3 different times for fluid due to the nausea. The neurologist says that it is a migraine that is not responding to medicine. but I wonder now if it could be due to the shot.

Since my daughter second gardasil shot she has become tired all the time, she passed out on November 10 and was taken to the doctor. She orderd an EKG, chest xray and blood work. They called me that night and said she has an irregular slow heart beat ( which she has never had before). We went to a heart specialist the next day, he did an echo cardiogram and said things looked fine. If she passed out again, for me to call him and he sent us on our way. Tonight, while she was walking at work, it happend again. We went to E.R. and basically were told to follow up with her doctors on Monday. She is supposed to get the third shot in December, now i am afraid for her to get it. Im wondering if her suddenly getting the slow irregular heart beat, and passing out, irregular period, and headache is connected to the Gardasil. She is 17 and a senior in High School, she was planning on going to college, but now she is afraid to be alone, drive, or do anything that typical teenagers do.

Hi, my name’s M. and I posted my story on here about a month ago. Unfortunately, I’ve made no progress. I was hospitalized again mid-October for numbness and tingling sensations in my legs, which is a symptom of guillian-barre syndrome and supposedly needs to be treated very carefully. I had an mri of my brain again, this time including my spine to check for possible tumors. I was sent home the next day, negative for guillian-barre, but having received no answers. I was crawling up the stairs by this time, and was too weak to walk without holding on to furniture to support myself. My legs felt like cement blocks, and the neurologist specifically said, “I don’t know why you can’t walk.”
Since then, I’ve developed acute mononucleosis, which increases my fatigue and muscle pain, and causes me to sleep about 15 hours a day. Recent blood work also showed I was positive for an autoimmune disorder called Myositis, which is a painful disorder that causes the body’s immune system to attack its muscles and connective tissue. I was referred to a rheumatologist, who was the least sympathetic person I’ve met in my life, and told me my physical exam was perfect, so she felt the Myositis must have been a false positive. She re-ran the blood work, and the Myositis was negative. This is of course a relief, but how we’ll ever know which test is correct, I don’t know. The rheumatologist did notice the weakness in my legs and my difficulty walking, and suggested physical therapy to help gain my strength back. She also prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication that took away almost all of my pain. Thank God, something finally worked for me. We then saw the physical therapist who said, “We can probably make you stronger, but I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
I’m seeing an osteopathic specialist who is convinced my illness is directly related to Gardasil. Through ancient medicine methods, she introduced a vile of Gardasil to my system and noticed an immediate weakness. I’m not sure if I totally believe in her practice, but the fact that she noticed a rejection to Gardasil the minute she introduced it is enough to convince me. She believes that my immune system was basically poisoned by the vaccine, which is causing it to fight off things I need. She also said it probably doesn’t recognize the mono as an infection, and decides not to fight it. For a normal, healthy person, mono can last up to 3 months. For someone like me, no one knows how long it could last. It was my immune system’s weakness that allowed me to develop mono, and it was the Gardasil that weakened it in the first place. So thank you Merck, for yet another thing I have to deal with.
And that brings us to today. I’ve missed about 30 days of my freshman year, so I’m assuming summer school will be necessary. My high school won’t provide a tutor, so I can only take my core curriculum classes, and am having difficulty keeping up with just those few. I’ve gained some strength in my legs, and it’s a little easier to walk with the anti-inflammatory, but I still can’t walk very far without resting. I’m also taking an anti-depressant to help me focus-hopefully it’ll lift my spirits. Since I received the vaccine, my periods have been painful and irregular. The constant nausea, headaches, and occasional stomach pain/joint pain continues, along with extreme fatigue.
The doctors make me feel like a crazy person who faked this to get out of school. How could I possibly fake nausea for thirteen weeks straight, and pain that kept me up crying almost every night? How could I fake my difficulty walking while it’s causing me to miss both of my volleyball seasons? Before this, I had hardly missed a day of school in my life, and refused to stay home whenever I got the flu because I hate falling behind. I’ve played volleyball tournaments with sprained ankles and chipped elbows, I can handle pain, and I’m not a baby. If the doctors would take five minutes out of their time to try to get to know me, maybe they would see that. And the few who actually take the time to be pleasant don’t listen. They tell you they know, that they understand, but they don’t. They won’t drag themselves out of bed in the morning feeling nauseous and half asleep; they’ll be able to walk into their office without feeling like they want to collapse, and they’ll go home to the people who care about them and will actually be awake long enough to enjoy their company. No one will tell them they’re insane, and the worst part is that most of them won’t take the time to realize how blessed they are just to have the ability to do those things. How can the doctors not have sympathy when they’re the ones who put this poison inside of me?!
I know I’m very lucky compared to girls who have experienced more serious side effects, and am thankful that we were able to make a connection between my illness and Gardasil after the first shot. But I’m living proof of what just one stupid shot can do to you-how can you put yourselves or your daughters at risk of what I’ve gone through? The benefits are not just worth the risk..
My 15th birthday is coming up in just a few weeks, and all I want is to be normal again.

Against my better judgment, I received my first shot in Oct 07 and my second in March 08. I will absolutely will not get the third. I was suspicious of the vaccine, but was convinced by my doctor to get it. I should have listened to my gut. Within two weeks of receiving the first shot, I experienced flu-like symptoms, fever, and such severe vaginal discomfort that I went to the emergency room. I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. It cleared up, but my health felt off - worse digestion, I started getting heartburn, feeling fatigue, started seeing floaters in my vision and getting terrible headaches, and my menstrual cycle started becoming more irregular. I had always been like clockwork. I started losing weight, which was unusual, as I had always been overweight and had a hard time losing weight. I began feeling more and more irritable, but made no connections to the Guardasil shot. In March, immediately after receiving the second vaccine, my arm hurt terribly, I felt lightheaded, woozy, and had hives appear. Within 1 week, I started experiencing vaginal irritation again, fever, and had flu like symptoms. Over the course of the next month, I started to feel such severe fatigue, stomach aches, and uncontrollable diarrhea, that I went to my doctor. She told me I probably just had acid reflux. Two days later, I experience debilitating stomach pain, which lasted for nearly 1 month. I had an endoscopy, a CT scan, allergy tests, and blood work for thyroid disorders and other imbalances, all of which have come back reasonably normal and regular for my body and system. I did have some esophageal damage from acid reflux, and was put on Prevacid. Receiving no answers from the Western Medical community, I cut out gluten, corn, soy, dairy, eggs, caffeine, alcohol, yeasts, and sugar from my diet and started working with an acupuncturist and naturopath. Stool sampling showed signs of Candida Yeast overgrowth in my intestines and parasites, which I am combating naturally with help from my naturopath. I a got off the Prevacid successfully with her help, and am starting to feel stronger. However, since January, I have lost 50 lbs, have experienced hair loss, fatigue, eye itchiness, emotional upset, headaches, joint pain, tingling/numbness in hands and feet, lower body temperature, disruption in my sleep, decreased strength, muscle loss, continued gastrointestinal pain, alternating diarrhea/constipation, persistent Bacterial Vaginosis, and have not had my period since I received the second shot in March. While I do feel I am becoming stronger, this road is long and the journey is slow. My health is not what it used to be, my diet is restrictive, and I am taking multiple herbal and natural supplements, vitamins, and probiotics. The appearance of overall, chronic symptoms with the timing of the Guardasil shots makes me believe that I, like so many other women, am a victim of Guardasil. Don't get this vaccine.

Oh my goodness.....my daughter, age 17, had her first injection in June 2008, started losing her hair w/in a month. We thought it was form straightening, some high lightening etc. She had blood work done which showed she was anemic...strange, as 2yrs prior her blood work was stellar, and she had not changed her diet, or physical activity. She increased her iron and protein intake (along w/ supplements).....three months later, and after her second injection, iron was still anemic....worse actually, and her hair loss significant.I found this website last night....and I am floored......I called MERCK today and spoke to a representative wh o was not aware of the hair loss issue, but said that in their case studies, Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia was a side effect.....which leads to hair loss itself.....so I am researching now what to do next.....anyone else have this issue??????

i'm a fourteen year old girl, who has been completely healthy my entire life. about a week or two after i got the gardisil shot, i went on vacation in the outer banks. when i returned i started experiencing severe abdominal pain, feeling nauseated, fatigued, having muscle pains and confusion. i went to my family doctor, who diagnosed me with the flu and gave me antibiotics. days later, i wasn't getting any better so my mom took me to the emergency room where i was put on an iv for dehydration. i was sent home with medicine for the abdominal pain, which gave me no relief. i returned to the emergency room several days later due to the same issues, and was put on an iv for dehydration again. they took blood to test for a bunch of different things, but everything came back normal. i was sent home again, and over the next month i was referred to a gastroenterologist, where i had a CT scan of my stomach, an upper gi/barrium swallow, an upper endoscopy with biopsies, a MRI of my brain, and tests done on my liver and gall bladder, all of which came back normal. i was admitted to the hospital on august 20th, the day i was supposed to start high school. i was put on an iv again, and had liquids dripping in me for about 12 hours. my gastroenterologist seemed to think i was bringing everything on myself and might have a minor case of IBS. the doctor made me talk to a psych, who basically told me i must be stressed and had to be bringing it on myself. the doctor sent me home, telling my parents to force me to go to school. i cried the whole way home from the hospital, no one was even trying to make me feel better, and i hated the doctors for thinking i could bring something like this on myself. i started my first week of high school later than everyone else, i felt completely exhausted and threw up in the bathroom between classes. a day at school takes everything out of me, and i have to spend the next day in bed. my mom and i just saw all these side effects of the gardisil shot and are convinced that's what caused all this. i couldn't try out for the volleyball team, i've lost 14 pounds, i might have to re-do my freshman year because i'm missing so much, i can't hang out with my friends, i can't even go to homecoming and im honestly depressed because of all. this has ruined everything for me. don't let anyone tell you it's all in your head, its not, this is real and its effecting a lot of girls. please think twice before getting the gardisil shot

my 12 year old daughter received 2 shots and we noticed a bald spot on the back of her head. A couple weeks later, it is getting worse, she now has at least 3 bald spots. She has very fine hair and is trying really hard to hide the bald spots, 2 in the front of her scalp. I know this is a result of the Gardasil shot. She will not be getting the 3rd shot. All of the doctors recommend this shot. Its only been out on the market a few short years, and i believe more research is needed. My daughter is to the point of tears every morning trying to fix her hair to cover up the bald spots. A dermatologist has diagnosed her with alopecia areata. There are new spots appearing all the time and I am worried that she will lose all of her hair.

I am 20 years old and I had no fear about the Gardasil shot until I received my second shot. I had my first shot July 7, 2008 after my sister-in-law convinced me to have to. She swore by it. After I received the shot I immediately noticed that I was having headaches and nausea. I figured it was just a small side effect so I put it out of my mind. I was known for having migraines also. This was on my mother's birthday, I couldn't enjoy it with her. Later in the week I started becoming very ill and I thought it was due to stress and lack of sleep. I was working a night time job as a manager so the stress was normal for me. On Sunday, July 20, 2008 I went over to a friends house because I was depressed and needed to be with some on when I noticed the I had been getting dizzy. My friends boyfriend was giving me a ride home while he was smoking a cigarette and the smell made me feel very nauseated. I thought I was pregnant because my boyfriend and I had recently broken up not even a month before. After I got home all hell broke loose. I started vomiting. For the next 2 weeks I had been vomiting and I was not able to hold anything down. I couldn't eat and I couldn't drink anything. I was working full time while being sick. I had no energy at all. Finally, July 31, 2008 I was admitted into the hospital. I was complaining of stomach pains and a late period along with the nausea, severe heartburn, and exhaustion. After doing x-rays, blood work, and urine tests they came back and said I was not pregnant, but I was dehidrated. I was on a drip for 4 hours making me late to work. I finally was released from the hospital after lying to them telling them that I was feeling better. I felt worse than before. I went to work that night completely out of my mind because my boss refused to work for me. In weeks to come I started feeling better. I got my second shot September 12, 2008. Once again I immediately noticed a headache and nausea and this time I knew it was from the shot. I still didn't think much of it even after I heard about what the shot was doing to people. I noticed a red mark where the injection site was but I figured it was normal. I went through my weekend without a care in the world when I noticed on Sunday that I wasn't feeling well at all and I was starting to get another headache. This was on my brother's 23rd birthday so I put on a brave face and went through the night. I went to bed early. Last night I was sitting on the couch watching my favoraite show when I noticed I was getting another headache. I didn't want to say anything to my parents because there was nothing they could do about it. Later in the night I noticed my headache was getting worse with a sudden sore throat with no cold symptoms. I once again went to bed early. I woke up this morning with the same sore throat and headache only they were both worse following nausea. I was supposed to take a college placement test, but I had to cancel it for the second time due to being sick from the Gardasil shot. After I did that I came online and looked at possible side effects vs. side effects people are really having. Panicing I called a line called "My Nurse" and spoke with a nurse at my local hospital. She told me that since I am on birth control to try to regulate my period that it might have something to do with my headache. I told her about the times before when I was not on birth control and my hospitalization with the dehydration and headaches and she told me that I was the second person today calling and complaining about a headache after receiving the second shot. She informed me to try to take ibuprofin and if my headache was not gone within the next hour or two to go see my family doctor and ask him about the Gardasil and if I should receive my 3rd shot in January. So far it's been an hour and every time I swallow I feel like I'm going to vomit and my headaches only gotten worse since taking something for it. I will not be receiving my 3rd shot and I suggest to anyone who is getting the Gardasil to carefully consider it before getting it. I was perfectly healthy before receiving the shot and now I'm a mess.

After having the third shot I noticed my hair began falling out (July 2007). It is now over a year later and after having numerous blood tests, visiting a dermatologist and doing tons of research, I have concluded that gardasil must be causing this. My hair continues to fall out, I have bald areas around the crown of my head and my mood is very depressed by this. I also experienced soreness in my legs and joints but these are not constant. My periods also are out of whack. They can be between 28-50 days apart. I would not recommend anyone getting this vaccine. I wish my OBGYN had not sold me on it. I was 31 when I got it but she said age didn't matter, she said one day insurance companies would cover this vaccine for all women no matter what age they are. I paid $190.00 a shot and now I have a thin head of hair that may one day soon be bald if it doesn’t stop falling out. I think they should take this vaccine off the market. If anyone else has had severe hair loss, has it stopped falling out after a certain point?
