My 9 year old daughter got her first shot in Dec. 2008 and her second in Feb. and the last in June. We have have been to the doctor a lot of times due to headaches with the doctor's opinion being that it's "allergies". She is now on allergy shots with still no relief from the headaches. I listened to her pediatrician and got her the shots. I feel so bad now after reading all the problems others are having with this vaccine. She also has had a change in her attitude aggression, moodiness, cries often, and she says she's depressed. If anybody has any suggestions for us please let me know. I love my little girl and know I'm worried.

I received my 2nd shot on 3/27/09. On 3/31/09 i began having headaches, diarrhea, chest pains, back pains, and abdominal, pelvic pains. They have not ceased since. I have tried taking headache medication but the headache returns the next day. Including the terrible abdominal pains. My mother overheard about a 5th grader taking these shots and ending up dying from them. Her doctors could not find the source of her problems and convinced her family there was nothing wrong...her death was the result.

I received my first Gardasil shot back in September '08, and my second shot December '08. I was supposed to go back the 1st of this month to get the third but decided not to go. After the first shot my whole arm was so sore I could barely move it for about a week. I became extremely tired and run down, and began getting symptoms like I had the flu. These symptoms lasted for about two weeks after the shot, them seemed to somewhat go away. I figured my body was just not used to the medication so I went ahead with the second shot. This time the symptoms were worse. Again my arm was sore to the point of not being able to use it, and I was extremely tired. I remember going home from work that day and immediately going to bed at 5, no waking up until almost noon the next day. for the next couple of days i slept almost non stop until Monday when i had to get up for class. Since my second shot I have not had nearly as much energy as I used to, I am always tired and feeling like I need to take a nap even if I got over 8 hours of sleep. I feel like I am not all there, or as smart as I used to be for some reason. I'm not the same person I used to be. I wish I had never gotten the shots to begin with, I want all of my energy and my old life back.

My then 11 year old daughter received her first vaccine in June 2007, and third in December 2007. In January 2008, she began complaining of backaches and headaches. During the spring/summer 2008, she began having tremors, tingling and numbness in her legs and arms. She is always tired and never feels good. We have seen a neurologist and 2 neurosurgeons, had CT scans and MRIs. But no answers. She is on medication that has helped slightly, but she still suffers from a constant headache that she never ranks less that 4 on a scale of 1 to 10. Typically she rates it as a 7 or 8, and we have had a couple of 12s.

Soon after receiving the first of three Gardasil vaccinations, my daughter started experiencing daily headaches which progressively worsened. Her doctor said that it wasn't likely to be a side effect of Gardasil. Over the next year, she was referred for vision testing and had a CT Scan and MRI to try to diagnose the chronic headaches which had become quite severe and often debilitating. No cause was found. She was given prescription after prescription which didn't help- and often generated additional side effects that made her feel worse. A year later she still has undiagnosed headaches and takes a prescription medication twice per day to lessen the severity of the headaches. Only recently did we find an article relaying the same story- linking the headaches to Gardasil vaccinations. With no health issues prior to the vaccinations, no underlying cause found following many tests, doctor referrals and medications, and the fact that this all started immediately following her first dose of Gardasil, we suspect this is what instigated the headaches.

Hello Everyone,

Reading your stories has brought tears to my eyes. I have received my first shot two months ago, on October 20th. Since October 24, I have had nothing but struggle. I am 25 years old and have been in good health my entire life. The only thing I have ever had a struggle with was UTIs, approximately 2 times a year. However, they were gone with the first dose of antibiotics, within 24 hours. Couple of years ago, my gynecologist had completely cured me from that annoying disease through a course of medication that I took for two months. That was not a very easy process but I was free at last. I did not have a care in the world. However, my nightmare came back after the first Gardasil shoot. Exactly three days later, I woke up with severe pains in my lower abdomen, as well as all the other common symptoms of a UTI. Honestly, being as careful as I always have been with UTIs, I did not put Gardasil and this infection together. I went to my doctor. She tested me for a UTI, said I had a small presence of bacteria in my urine, and released me with a prescription for Macrobid. After a week of taking the meds, things were not looking up. It has been two months, and things have not gotten better. About two weeks ago I started searching for other causes of this pain that is resisting going away. I have been on three courses of antibiotics and going back to my doc tomorrow, after coming across this discussion. I have never experienced pain like this before, having considered myself a veteran of UTIs. I thank you for sharing your stories and advise everyone to think twice about having these shots or taking your children. I am not going back for another dose of this nightmare! I don't even know when I will feel normal again. Everyday starts with a thought: "Will I feel pain when I go to the bathroom today?" I am now completely sure that Gardasil had everything to do with my recent condition.

My 13 year old sister is a normal active teenager. She received the first Gardasil shot last October with Hep B. In November, she received the second Gardasil shot with the meningitis vaccine. Right before Christmas, she started experiencing tingling in her hands and fingers. Two days before the New Year, her knees swelled three times their normal size and were extremely painful. It took two weeks for her knees to become only slightly swollen. Several doctors and a specialist in pediatric arthritis later, she was diagnosed with chronic arthritis. She had no previous joints issue at all. She has been on medication for a year. We can only hope she has juvenile arthritis and that it will go in remission. Unfortunately, her wrists have started to hurt recently.

After much research by my mom and myself, we have come to the conclusion her spontaneous arthritis was a result of Gardasil. Most likely the combination of Gardasil and the meningitis vaccine was the cause. It should be noted that the FDA allowed Merck to fast-track Gardasil for approval. The Gardasil vaccine was never tested with the meningitis vaccine; however, most physicians give multiple vaccines at one time.

I'm 18 years old and live in Florida, while at the gynecologist for a routine visit my doctor strongly suggested that I start the Gardasil 3 shot cycle. After checking with my mom (who was unfortunately given biased information from my doctor without first doing research on the product) agreed since we both figured that my doctor would be knowledgeable enough on the subject (or you would think since she was the one administering the drug.) The first two shots went fine and I had no reaction at all. After the third shot (in October of 2007) I woke up the next morning with swollen hands and extreme swelling at the injection spot. I immediately returned to my gynecologist where I was told “there is no possible way you can be allergic to this medication” by my doctor, and that those reactions would go away in a few days. A few days following this I developed sores in the back of my throat and under my tongue, however my gynecologist still insisted there was no possible way it was an effect of the Gardasil (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE VERY NEXT DAY) & I had no previous illnesses. Within the week following I developed body-wide hives so severe that I cannot sleep and they affect my breathing. I’ve seen several doctors (allergist, dermatologist, primary physicians, and immunologists) none of which can determine why exactly I have these hives, besides that it is a “drug reaction” (it took 11 vials of blood to determine that). However when one of my dermatologists questioned Merck about it they simply said that there is no evidence and I cannot sew!!! That’s all they cared about! A law suit! WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET THIS SHOT, TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW! It has ruined my life. As an 18 year old girl living in Florida I love to go to the beach however because of these hives they get so severe when I’m exposed to sunlight I can no longer go. It’s also extremely embarrassing when people stare at them since they cover most of my body on a daily basis.

i'm a fourteen year old girl, who has been completely healthy my entire life. about a week or two after i got the gardisil shot, i went on vacation in the outer banks. when i returned i started experiencing severe abdominal pain, feeling nauseated, fatigued, having muscle pains and confusion. i went to my family doctor, who diagnosed me with the flu and gave me antibiotics. days later, i wasn't getting any better so my mom took me to the emergency room where i was put on an iv for dehydration. i was sent home with medicine for the abdominal pain, which gave me no relief. i returned to the emergency room several days later due to the same issues, and was put on an iv for dehydration again. they took blood to test for a bunch of different things, but everything came back normal. i was sent home again, and over the next month i was referred to a gastroenterologist, where i had a CT scan of my stomach, an upper gi/barrium swallow, an upper endoscopy with biopsies, a MRI of my brain, and tests done on my liver and gall bladder, all of which came back normal. i was admitted to the hospital on august 20th, the day i was supposed to start high school. i was put on an iv again, and had liquids dripping in me for about 12 hours. my gastroenterologist seemed to think i was bringing everything on myself and might have a minor case of IBS. the doctor made me talk to a psych, who basically told me i must be stressed and had to be bringing it on myself. the doctor sent me home, telling my parents to force me to go to school. i cried the whole way home from the hospital, no one was even trying to make me feel better, and i hated the doctors for thinking i could bring something like this on myself. i started my first week of high school later than everyone else, i felt completely exhausted and threw up in the bathroom between classes. a day at school takes everything out of me, and i have to spend the next day in bed. my mom and i just saw all these side effects of the gardisil shot and are convinced that's what caused all this. i couldn't try out for the volleyball team, i've lost 14 pounds, i might have to re-do my freshman year because i'm missing so much, i can't hang out with my friends, i can't even go to homecoming and im honestly depressed because of all. this has ruined everything for me. don't let anyone tell you it's all in your head, its not, this is real and its effecting a lot of girls. please think twice before getting the gardisil shot

I have already posted my side effects to Garasil previously...I have severe alopecia. This started over a year ago and is getting progressively worse. I just wanted to take a minute to urge all of you to do TWO things.

1) Submit your side effects to the FDA Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS); here's the link: https://secure.vaers.org/VaersDataEntryintro.htm

2) Call & report this to the MERCK National Service Center: 1-800-NSC MERCK (8am - 7pm ET)

Thank you for taking the time to do this, I know that it can be time consuming; but maybe we can prevent someone else from having the same miserable experience.

I don't have a side effect to post THANK GOD. I want to thank all of you for posting your comments. These comments help people like me make more informed decisions. Our Doctor strongly encouraged my husband to have our 3 daughters receive this vaccine. I am so glad he waited to ask me - I have long been angry at the Government insistent on vaccines that don't seem necessary. In any case my research landed here along with a web site from a law firm looking for more more victims in the class action law suite they are waging. Many of you should call them. Also, a news article that was shocking on the subject. In this day and age any medication or vaccine should be researched on line with a buyer beware attitude - NOT through your doctor!!! I have seen many cases of drugs that cause side effects that doctor's and laboratory's say couldn't possibly happen.

My daughter is 15 and on Thursday June 5, 2008 she received her second shot of Gardasil. A couple of hours later she complained of difficulty breathing. I took her to the ER where the doctors made me feel like I was crazy to think it was a reaction to the Gardasil shot. They said she might have asthma. They gave her a Nebulizer treatment that didn't help and sent her home with a prescription for Albuterol which too did not help. I took her in to see her Primary care doctor who said the same thing, it could not be the shot and diagnosed her with Bronchitis. She has no signs of bronchitis, no wheezing, cough or phlem. I then took her to see an allergist who again said the same thing, not the shot. He to said she may have bronchitis. They have given her 4 types of medication and none of them have helped. Today is day 10 and she continues to have difficulty breathing. Is there anyone else out there with these same symptoms?? If so I would really appreciate and advise you can give..

i had the first shot in December 2006 and the next day i woke up with a headache, fever but not a high one, nausea, vomiting and cough body aches. we called the doctor to ask if it was related to gardasil, and she said it wasn't the vaccine but it was that i was getting sick already. but since that time I've been having nausea and vomiting and i've been missing a lot of school because of the vomiting. I've been seen by a doctor who specializes in the stomach and he thought i had acid reflex. and i got 3 different medication and it didn't help. i also had a ultra sound and endoscope biopsy. and the doctor said theirs nothing wrong. I still continue with nausea everyday and sometimes it gets worse and i start vomiting.
