I have been taking Geodon for about 4 months now and it has relieved my bipolar symptoms remarkably well but in the last month and a half I have experienced a "Shocking" feeling to my heart that goes down my arms and legs. I was referred to a cardiologist and had a not so good EKG. I am scheduled for a ecocardiograma and to wear a heart monitor for a few days and then follow up with a nuclear stress test on Friday. The feeling is scary and recently I have not been sleeping. At first the medication was a miracle and I had for once in my life a normal sleep pattern. I guess I am worried about my heart. I take 180 mg every night along with a sleeping pill that was prescribed by my doctor. He was running out of medications that would help me. I have lost 27 pounds since being on the medication which is on the good side but is the cost going to be my heart? I will post what the doctor finds so that all of you can know what to look for or be on the watch out for. Many thanks for listening. B.

I have been taking Geodon for roughly 2 weeks, and after the 2nd week my dosage was upped to 80mg's. Last night I had to be taken to the ER because I was suffering dystonic side effects from interactions with another medication. Basically my whole body was suffering spasms. No place was immune, it would go into my face and I had no control over it, it was a very sobering ordeal, and made me want to quit this drug immediately.

I initially went to the doctor requesting my ADHD medication and within 10 minutes of talking to this guy he tells me I don't have ADHD and proceeds to tell me I'm bi-polar. I'm 30yrs old and was placed on 80mg/daily 40mg in the a.m. and another 40mg before bedtime. I was on this medication for 2 1/2 days and was taken off of it due to involuntary mouth movements followed by episodes of dystonia (neck, eyes, mouth and hands for hours at a time)...it was almost as if I was having a seizure without swallowing my tongue. I also experienced very blurred vision and now when I'm speaking to someone I feel like my brain went for a walk because sentences don't come out right and I find myself struggling to make rational decisions. I have now been off of it totally for 3 days and I'm still experiencing the blurred vision and I had 20/20 vision prior to taking this drug, The doctor wants me to try Abilify but the side effects of that drug are very similar to Geodon, I'm literally scared to even pick this up from the pharmacy and give it a try. My pupils are very dilated, I don't know how long this is going to last but it's affecting my job (meaning I haven't been to work in a week because I can't see straight. If anyone is experiencing the same issues after being off the medication for a while...can you tell me how long I am to expect this to go on.

I have been on Geodon for 5 weeks. The bothersome side effects thus far are flatulence, decrease in libido and feeling groggy in the morning. I am hoping that these will subside in time as I am being treated for atypical depression and the medication is proving to be beneficial in alleviating my symptoms. I am not experiencing any increase in appetite as is so usual with other anti-depressants.

I have been on Geodon for 6 months now as treatment for schizophrenia. It totally gets rid of the paranoia, hallucinations, and delusions. The only bad thing that I noticed right off was the insomnia. I never feel sleepy and if I'm awakened in the middle of the night or early morning, I'm wide awake and cannot get back to sleep easily. I feel restless sometimes and never feel relaxed or rested. Lately, I've noticed my tongue moving involuntarily and some shortness of breath when I am in bed trying to get to sleep (I take 80mg Geodon once at night) I am worried about the shortness of breath because I previously was on Seroquel and stopped taking it because I was feeling dizziness and shortness of breath. I have to be on some form of medication though because I don't want to have another episode with the schizophrenia.

Hello All. Diagnosed bipolar in 2004, been on and off meds realizing that I guess I can't really be off of them, though having a hard time dealing with it. Been on Lamictal, Lithium, Geodon, and several anti-depressants and others I can't remember honestly in the past, now just Geodon, 80 mg at night (can't do it in the morning, can't work). It's now 2 a.m. and I'm desperate. I feel worse on my meds than I do off, though I get suicidal and sabotage my life and my marriage and kids. I have experienced insomnia, tired in the morning, my muscles ache, I dance all morning long and my co-workers think I'm crazy ( I guess I may be). I have landed in crutches because my "dancing" has caused shin splits. I hold a good job and I have two kids that I need to tend to. My husband travels a lot and I just can't seem to deal with the Geodon. All others caused similar issues. I'm desperate on my meds, but I suffer schitzo symptoms off meds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW, just found two great doctor's, one for therapy and one for med admin. Only been back on my meds and doctor's appts for 2 months after being off meds for 9 months and suffering another "great" relapse. Help me!!!!

I'm trying to wean myself off Geodon and I had a minor, panic attack,. My doctor won't help me because she said I need to see a psychiatrist but I can't afford to see one. Does anyone know how long the side effect last when you get off Geodon. I am a single parent and have a job I need to function at so any advice will help. I have ,anxiety, all the time the doc had to prescribe some anti-anxiety medicine which I never had anxiety like that before. My symptoms on the medication is sleeplessness, restlessness, loss of appetite, can quit moving, racing thoughts, depression.

Hi all. My DH has been taking Geodon for 5 months for "delusion - other". The docs don't feel he's bi-polar or schizophrenic. He started up on 20mg and was taken all the way up to 160mg at night until he got ridiculously drowsy on this drug from that dose. He was having issues getting up in the morning (even after 9 1/2+ hours of sleep the night before) and was getting scared of driving to work as out of it as he'd be. The doc took him down to 120mg and it was still bad. So, then they dropped him down to 80mg and he started experiencing severe anxiety. He said he felt like his chest was closing in on him. So, now he's on 100mg and still tired, but not as bad.

Don't get me wrong.. if this was the only issue, I'd be fine with it. The Geodon was a godsend, at first. It really made his delusion dissipate (he wanted to run off and preach the word of God on street corners) and he was able to go back to working 8-hour days after a few months.

But now that he's gotten past that (he's had this once before, 6 years ago, and they had him on risperdal and depakote until the delusion was gone and then took him off of everything completely) he is BEYOND depressed. He has no history whatsoever of depression and has never felt this way before. Our family has never seen him like this. It's increasingly interfering with our relationship, as he just stares at me blankly if I happen to get upset about anything. He's just completely dead inside and feeling worthless. He can't even have an emotional conversation with me anymore and he used to be the most attentive, wonderful husband and friend he could ever be before he got on Geodon.

He also has zero interest in sex. I mean, he can go through it just fine, but he just doesn't want it on his own. And that's depressing for me!!

All in all, I want him off this drug as it seems that, once it did its job, it's eating away at his cognitive and emotional sides. He has a hard time reasoning and, of course, then ends up getting depressed because he feels worthless at his job. I just don't get it.

My question is: if he should happen to be bi-polar ( I mean, if the docs have all gotten it wrong) and he's going through a depressive phase, shouldn't the Geodon be helping? He just seems to get more and more depressed as gets further and further away from being delusional.

We're going to the doc on Thursday and I'm going to tell him that I want DH off this med.. no matter what he thinks. We just can't keep going through this crud anymore. I'd appreciate any feedback/advice/empathy you all can give.

I just miss my husband and I feel like this drug is running him into the ground and wrecking our marriage. :(

I honestly do not like taking Geodon. It can have negative effects on your heart. However I have been taking Geodon for at least six months now.

If I miss just one dose I start to feel extreme withdrawal. My withdrawal side effects are blurred vision, nausea, headache, and weakness.

And I've never had withdrawal from a medicine before. But for some reason it's really bad with Geodon.

I'm going to ask me Doctor about this.

Hi All,
I am very concerned about the effects of Geodon. My 12 year old daughter is on it has been on it for some time and now is having speech problems. When she talks its as if she has what I call a"Mush Mouth" you can barley understand her and it's almost like a whisper talk. Has anyone else experienced this? Please I am in need of any input. Thanks,Annette from Michigan

I've been on Geodon for 3 years now. At first I was on 120mg per day and then I was so sick of being drowsy in the morning that I reduced my dosage to 80 mg a day. I'm really sad and frustrated because I told my doctor that I wanted to go off of it, because I don't think I have a mental illness and she refused to help me go off of it. Its a really hard drug to come off of. And it makes me so angry because she never warned me when I was first forced to go on it that going off of it would be so difficult. It makes me so angry and sad and even suicidal that other people think they know whats best for me. I had a beautiful religious experience with Jesus. I made the mistake of telling my family and doctor, and they labeled me as schizophrenic and forced me onto medication (Geodon). I think its so unfair and I have resentment that my family did this to me. Nobody believes me that I had this religious experience (I'm a Catholic) and they all think I'm crazy. Now I want to enter a religious order and become a nun. I tried to enter an order and they asked me if I take any medication. The religion teaches that its a sin to lie, so I told the truth and told them about the medication. Religious orders are strict about not admitting people with 'mental problems' so she refused to admit me. Now I want to go off of the medicine so that the next time a religious order asks me if I take medication I can say 'no' and therefore avoid the whole subject of mental illness. My advice to anyone who is starting this medicine is quit before you get addicted because going off it is next to impossible. I really resent my psychiatrist and I think she's a horrible person for forcing me on this drug. They wouldn't let me leave the mental hospital and told me they would make a court order and give me shots if I refused to take the medication. Looking back, what I should have done is just quit the medication right when I got out of the hospital because they couldn't have done anything about it. Sorry this is so long but this whole issue has caused so much friction and even hatred for me for my mom, who refuses to believe in my religious experience. I think she says she believes me to shut me up. But if she really believed me she wouldn't see the need for me to be on this medication. I'm planning on slowly weaning myself off of it, but based on what I've read I know its going to be almost impossible. I work so I need my sleep every night. I asked my doctor for Xanax and sleeping pills to help me with the withdrawal symptoms, and she refused to give them to me. I'm afraid I'll overdose on sleeping pills just trying to get the sleep I need because going off Geodon causes awful excruciating insomnia. I buy the store brand sleeping pills because my doctor wont give them to me. My opinion is most mental illness can be solved with God and prayer to Jesus. Psychiatrists put everyone and their mother on medication and I think the ones I've had are awful, sadistic, uncaring, unfeeling, unloving, do more damage than good, godless, learned in the wrong kind of knowledge, wretched people. What I wanted here was advice or any tips to going off of Geodon. I kind of got off track. If anyone has gone off of it successfully, lend me your advice.

So...
The Geodon seemed to make me too drowsy and I felt it was causing my sleep issue. I couldn't wake up in the morning. It was like I was still in REM while trying to wake. I could sleep until 12 noon and then realize I was late for work. Adderall barely seemed to help anymore.
After swearing off medications forever, I finally hit rock bottom realizing that my BiPolar had gotten the best of me. A DUI, WAY BAD CREDIT...I dug my self a hole of DEBT! My compulsive EVERYTHING had dug me a hole that thank God my Mother is still willing, after 22 years, is willing to help pull me out.
On my own, no psychiatrist involved, with my samples of Geodon and a prescription of Adderall provided by my primary care physician...I decided to go back on medication and so far...a week into it, I have noticed a significant difference...and so has others. Yes, I still might not want to wake up in the morning, but I am able to effectively work and actually somewhat enjoy doing it. I feel like I want to do things where as before...I just wanted to sleep or lay on the couch watching TV. I want to have a future and I want to better myself, where as before I wanted nothing but another drink and some pills. I feel that my quality of life has already improved and I hope with seeing my new psychiatrist on Tuesday, he might better my therapy.

Here is my current problem before asking my doctor.... hadn't taken any adderall for days. I took the Geodon at night, 60mg one day and 80mg the next thinking it might help with my sleep but it didn't do a thing. I Then the next day I took adderall around 7AM and 80mg of Geodon about 9PM and I couldn't keep my eyes open about 1-2 hours after taking the Geodon and I over-slept that morning and didn't wake up until after 10:30am when I am suppose to be at work at 9:00am.

Is it common for the extreme drowsiness to occur with the combination of Adderall in the morning and Geodon at night? I know before when I took both never missing either one, I was always extremely drowsy and that's one of the reasons I stopped taking meds. But after experiencing Geodon without adderall, I am wondering if the TWO don't mix well.

PLEASE HELP.

Geodon - Weight Loss, Mania Anyone?
________________________________________
I've been on Geodon for 5 wx & have lost 15 #'s. I usually weigh 130, now 115. looking anorexic, but my depression is a lot better now, I'm happy, first time in ovr a yr. nothing else could break the barrier except the Geodon, but it makes me manic, on top of already being manic…can't sleep. as I was about to crash & burn (thu), before I went running to the ER, i found my stash of 4 mg Risperdal that I just weened myself off of 3 mos ago, due to the long term side effects I was having (td, slurring, twitching, sexual dysfunction...). it took the edge off, til I can talk to the pdoc on tue.

like many of you, i’ve tried everything. i’m at my wit’s end. This bizarre combo seems to work for me. It puts a muzzle on the mania, allowing me a more hypomanic state where I can function & still feel really happy. although I’m going to try 40 vs 60 mg geodon. & try going down to 2 mg risperdal or try another a/p. adding the risperdal allowed me to sleep, along w/the lorazepam. but, I prefer not to be on risperdal

So, as of now…i'm on 60 mg geodon, 675 mg lithium, 4 mg risperdal & 1 mg lorazepam X 2/day.

has anyone else had this experience? Especially w/the mania & weight loss?

I have been taking Geodon for 3 yrs and have been trying to get off of it. I started on 40mgs once a day and was driving crazy from the Withdrawal side effects my pdoc and I did not anticipate. Geodon should be taken twice a day to even out the effects. Geodon has a wear off effect. About two yrs ago I was upped to 100 mgs a day and dealt with many side effects. I take 40mgs in the am and 60mgs in the pm. Now I deal with constipation, facial twitches, something stuck in my throat constantly, feeling cold all the time. I would complain to my pdoc but we never made the connection it was Geodon doing this to me. I am considered bp1 w/psychotic features and have not had a major episode since my dose was raised to 100mgs a day. Off and on I try to wean myself off Geodon but I find it impossible. My body screams for the Geodon when I don't take it. Nausea, hot & cold flashes, a feeling of total unwellness, dizziness, loose stools & stomach cramps all start about three days after I start the weaning process and last till I take some more Geodon to make it subside. I only have Ativan to help me get off this stuff and it is not much help. I am also on 75mgs a day of Topamax. Since I was raised to 100mgs I have had real troubles with insomnia. I go to bed at 9pm and I am fully awake between 3 to 5am. I never got up that early before Geodon. Ambien does not help to keep me sleeping. I will admit my mania is gone on Geodon but I still have some low lying depression that never seems to go away. I hate Geodon because it is next to impossible to get off this medication. I have tried to wean myself down several times without success. I don't want to be attached to this drug for the rest of my life. The addiction factor of this medication is not talked about in the brochure for this medication. The Withdrawal effects are horrible if you want to taper down or get off of it all together.

Hi Everyone,

Doctor put me on Geodon about 3 months ago. I started out 60 mg in the sample package the Doctor gave me. After using the sample pack I was prescribed 2 60 mg tablets (120mg) at night. It worked well for awhile and all of a sudden it seemed to stop working for me. I read a lot about how this drug is a nasty one and decided to cut down to 1 tablet (60 mg at night) The very next day I was trembling and having hot and cold flashes along with "brain zaps" and heart palpitations. I was hoping the Lamictal would cushion the side effects of the Geodon. Well it sure didn't do that and I know as the day goes I will have the same symptoms as I did yesterday.
The Geodon website makes this drug sound like a miracle drug but does state that heart related issues are there especially for the elderly people. This is a nasty drug that I hope I can get off and maybe go back to Lexapro because I have ADHD and not Bi-Polar.

Within 5 days of beginning course of Geodon, 40mg daily, doc doubled my dosage to 80mg, began to have problems. Intensely manic, easily frightened, insomnia, terrifying dreams. I decided to get out of hospital ASAP and decide if to quit taking Geodon.
On day six already my face was twitching, was irritable and manic, pacing, increasingly manic throughout day, decided to skip evening dose, keep total dosage same as before, 40mg. Began tripping around midnight and it was all downhill from there. Sleepless all night, by morning I had convulsions, increased heart rate, fear and anxiety, psychosis, uncontrollable crying. Had another seizure 12 hours later. Slept a little with help of Valium. Next day developed Parkinson's like symptoms, had my father not been there to help me, Lord knows what would have happened to me. Still awake in day 3 of withdrawal. Hoping the worst is over.

I was fine when I first started taking Geodon but when my doctor increased the dosage I started getting really anxious and was sleeping for so long on the weekends My body chemistry didn't work well with Geodon so my doctor said to stop taking it. Only take it if your body' s chemistry works with it. I feel a little better now but it's not totally out of my system. Anxiety can be a side effect too for those researching the medication.

At first I felt really stoned on the Geodon (60mg). Took about 2 weeks to adjust to it. I am also on Lithium 600 at night. Seems now that by the end of the day it has all worn off and I feel bad. The suicidal ideations come back at night. In the morning I feel good. Also take restoril 30 and Klonopin 2mg at bedtime. I mentioned to the MD about taking Geodon twice a day and he was unimpressed. I feel like I burn through it. Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks.

I have been on 40 mgs of Geodon since April 2006 and I have had absolutely no side effects from it. In fact, it is far better than the 7.5 mgs of Zyprexa I was on previously (gained 70 lbs on Zyprexa) and I have lost 40 of those lbs already. I told my doctor to take me off the Zyprexa as I couldn't stand to gain any more weight, so that is when he put me on Geodon. I was still in somewhat of a dark mood all the time and still paranoid on the Zyprexa, but when I started on Geodon it cleared it all up almost immediately. Geodon has been a life saver for me. I'm sorry to read about the bad experiences of some on this medication. I have never experienced any of the symptoms mentioned in previous posts. In fact, I have no side effects from it whatsoever.

The whole side effect I experienced was a swelling inside my nose that made it impossible to breath through my nose. That doesn't sound so bad, but it was awful. I had this horrible feeling I was not going to be able to breath at all. This effect usually occurred about 3 hours after taking the geodon, and it lasted for 3 to 4 hours. It was so bad I had to discontinue the medication. Does anyone have any suggestion on what I could do to combat this side-effect? I actually like the way Geodon made me feel.

I have been taking Geodon for exactly 15 days, and I'm FREAKING OUT over this drug!! Last night I woke to find myself throwing things around the room to try and baricade myself thinking someone OR something was trying to kill me. My bird was really startled and started free flight in his cage. Luckily he did not hurt himself, but he could have. My paranoia is WORSE, and I am MORE PSYCHOTIC than I was before taking Geodon! Do I need to give it more time to see if these terrible side effects will diminish? A friend who knows a lot about medications told me that if I am experiencing these same side effects after 2 weeks into taking the medication, it appears that my body is trying to tell me something, it is rejecting it. I want to just stop taking it IMMEDIATELY, BUT, will I be worse if I do? What kind of side effects can I expect?

I was giving Geodon to help with my insomnia, it did help at first . My husband had surgery and during this time I went without my 60mg dose of geodon at night because of how sleepy it made me. During this time I started having uncontrollable chills, then my skin would feel like it was crawling, nausea, and weird obsessive thoughts in my head. After I started back on the medicine the side effects diminished. Even though I noticed that everyday I was having trouble controlling my body temperature and was having all these weird thoughts in my head and confusion.
Finally, I have decided that I have to get off this medication even though everytime I try to go off of this medicine the side effects are terrible. I don't think that this medication should even be on the market. It is a dangerous medication.
I just pray that I keep my sanity while I get off of this medicine. I wonder how long it takes to get it out of your system.

I was put on Geodon about 2.5 to 3 years ago for about 7 months. I was only 15 at the time so I had little control to what medication I was being perscribed to. I wanted to get off of it about two or three months after I was on it but I had a terrible physiatrist who insisted he knew what I was experiencing better than I did which was perfect because if I refused to take any medication then I was sent to a pych ward for a week. My parents were understandably worried and didn't understand anything about these medications so they listened to that idiot.
Ok so, though at the time they weren't sure, I had severe depression. He thought it could be bi-polar and put me on Geodon, which I just read today that THIS year the FDA says is a medication to treat bi-polar. I can't remember how much I took but I think it was around 80mg to start. Within the first few days I noticed some annoying side effects such as drowziness and alittle shaking. Within a few weeks since nothing positive had happened, the physiatrist decided to increase the dosage. I noticed no change in my emotional state but the side effects were getting worse, I was becoming really fatigued most of the day, if I sat in one spot for about an hour my back would start to ache very badly, I noticed I was getting somewhat paranoid during the night as I become more tired. Still despite all this the physiatrist decided to increase it again things got worse ect. ect. he increased it AGAIN, I was on at least 180mg by then. At that point every night at about 10 I was knocked out, I literally couldn't stay awake even if I tried. Sitting in one spot for 30min made my back ache. I began to find it extremely difficult to use the bathroom (both ways). I also developed some minor hallucinations, the most memorable one being that, out of the corner of my eye, I saw my dog becoming flat and sliding under the door. This sounds like it might be funny and it may have been if it wasn't for the worst side effect, the paranoia. Every evening as I began getting sleepy the slightest noises would make me jump and if I was alone in a dark area I would constantly look behind me in fear. I would tell myself "this is just that pill cmon it's not real" but I would still feel a sensation of fear. My parents, though they reluctantly trusted the phyciatrist, at that point had had enough. There was still no change in my emotional state in terms of depression and since this was all overwhelming me the depression was just getting worse. Since it was getting worse the shrink wanted to admit me to a pych ward (for the third time) and my parents disagreed. They had a pretty big arguement, I very rarely see my mom unable to handle herself in an arguement but she was crying pretty bad. We never went back to that guy, though he did send my dad a letter saying that he thought that their desicion to not send me to the hospital was stupid and that he went to however many years of school and they don't know anything ect. ect. ect.
The next guy we went to got me off Geodon as soon as possible. To this day I have a small temor in my hands and find it difficult to use the bathroom often.

My husband was on Geodon for almost two weeks, and was immediately pulled from it, My life was hell for the time period he was on it. He had not had suicidal thoughts or feelings for months until he started taking this medication. I am crying now thinking that this could have cost me my husband, I am truly concerned about the amount of people with these severe side effects.

Geodon - at first I thought it was helping, but now I'm becoming irritable and tense. It's been two weeks. I'm not continuing this medication.

Yes, it is 3:40am and I too am up searching the internet to find out which medication is giving me insomnia! Looks like it's Geodon! I started with 40mg at bedtime for one month and they just upped my dose to 80mg at bedtime. My main problem has been sweating! As a 30 year young female living in sunny California (100 degress plus) it isn't to attractive to have a sweating problem. I am miserable! My eyes are so dilated and dry my husband actually asked me if I was using drugs (ha ha ha) and I am getting "trails" off things and small hallucinations if I wake up in the middle of the night (like a washcloth crawled away on the counter). I have trouble swallowing, am restless and anxious. I feel the symptoms worsened with the increasing dosage. But I guess this is better than the Zyprexa when I gained 30lbs in two weeks! I'm gonna give this drug a chance, hoping the sweat thing will get better with time. I've been playing this medication game long enough to know that unless the side effects are life threatening to stick with it and give it time. I have read many places that if you have stiffness and shuffling walk to stop the drug immediately and I saw a couple posts that were having that problem. It's on the manufacturers website; stop the drug immediately!

My son began geodon about five days ago and last night his right wrist began twisting to the right, his neck began twisting to the right (180 degrees). It was very painful and he could nto control it. His tongue began to swell to where he couldn't speak well. This medication sounds bad, bad, bad.

I have been taking 80mg of Geodon for about 4 years now. Im like most of the other people, I cant sleep at night, its 5:43 am now and Im still not tired. I have the same reaction when I miss a pill, but I only sleep for an hour then wake up feeling great, but as soon as someone talks to me, I get really jumpy and cocky, and millions of thought of killing and being destructive to everything in sight rushes through my head all at once. It has even got so far that I tryed to kill my black lab for barking at a reflection in the window. I have also had days that I would just black out, and not remember anything that has happened til I wake up the next day. But I mean when Im taking the pill when Im supposed to everything is fine. It usually calms me down. I have tryed so hard to change meds or just get off of it all together, but my doctor says it is clinically impossible to get off of geodon after being on it for as long as I have been on it. Before I was taking geodon I have never had any of the problems that my doctors seem to think I had. I never wanted to hurt people, I never heard or saw anything that wasnt there. And I sure as hell shouldnt have been on this medication for Teenage Depression. My problem was my life sucked and I made the mistake one day of talking about my problems. One piece of advice. Dont talk about your problems to doctors or psychiatrists you dont know. That just leads you to a very expensive vacation to a mental institution for 6 months to be put on medication you dont need. I have had past experiences of being over medicated with Geodon, but being under medicated with geodon scares the hell out of me more.... Thank you to all doctors and geodon for fucking up my life. Im sure I'll die from murder / suicide now.

I started taking geodon on yesterday. I was cooking dinner and I suddenly became very dizzy and started to stagger like a drunk. My doctor prescribed me 160mg per day. I'm currently looking for work, and I receive a call from a employer, and I could not collect my thoughts to have a decent conversation with her. I was truly out of focus. I've been sleeping all day. I feel terrible, like a person with a bad hangover. My head is woozy and I have no appetite. Please discontinue this medication... Thanks.

Yesterday my Doctor prescribed 120mg Geodon at night along with 10mg of tomazepam and during the day 150mg of Wellbutrin 10mg Lexapro and 100mg of Lamictal
I slept all the way through the night but this morning felt awful, difficulty forming words and feiling faint. I knew that Ihad to force myself to do something and went swiming, I hate getting my head in the water but my head was so hot that I went under water to try and clear my thinking and aleive the headache
I was unsure which of the night medications produced these reactions
I have been on Wellbutrin Clexa Nerontin wellbutrin and more recently Lymictal and Seriquil were added
It is scary to hear everyone else's side effects to this drug.
Has anyone been switched because of thier side effects?

My husband started taking Geodon about a month ago. The Doctor started him at 120 mg and all he did was sleep. After he complained of this side effect, she reduced it to 80 mg. He still has alot of problems with this medication.Along with all the other side effects, One of his side effects is deep depression. In addition it has effected his ability to think. Going to work has been very difficult for him, because he has forgotten how to do his work. I have tried talking with his Doctor to reducing his medication, and enstead he was given depression medicine. Is there anyone who can help

I've been on Geodon for about a year now. I had extreme anxiety but It is starting to lessen. My period also stopped about 9 months ago. I went without the Medication for a couple days and felt horrible as if I were going out of my mind. So I went back on it and felt better. How long do the withdrawn symptoms last after taking geodon?

THIS IS HORRIBLE STUFF!!! I suffer from depression and that is all...My doctor currently has me on the max dose of lexapro and welbutrin. Friday he threw Goedon in to the mix. I took one 60 mg and slept for over 20 hours. I went to work on monday and had trouble taking which is a major problem considering I talk on the phone 8 hours a day. I left work after an hour on monday, could not go in on tuesday and after reading what I've read here today. I am never taking this again....EVER. I must admit my dreams were incredible, the most vivid I've ever had. But this medication is vile. Get away from it ASAP.

I just started taking this medication at the beginning of the week. My greatest side effect is the falling asleep after approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours and not being able to stop it. A good example was when I was putting my children to bed last night and not being able to because I had to go to sleep right then and there. It makes me sleep fast and wake up early. The first day I took it, I could not wake up at all. My alarm clock went off and I kept hitting snooze. I went to bed at 1030 that night and did not wake up until after 1 the next afternoon. I am also experiencing cold chills from my calves to my feet and my lips have become extremely chapped.

My thirteen year old daughter has to take 40mg(total)daily. She has Down's Syndrome and can't describe her side effects. I've noticed that after about two and a half hours of her taking it, she becomes so drowzy that she will fall asleep anywhere. It knocks her out just like that. In my opinion, it is too strong for her. She becomes this way just from 20mg. This must be some powerful medication!! She slept for about 13 hours after her first dosage. She can't take it before going to school.
