Guaifen-C and chest congestion

I am not a doctor. But I rememberthe doctor said that this drug will release the phlem in my respiratory system. So logically, one should expect more caugh and phlem as some people here complaining. (Don't take my word, ask the doc.)
I have chest congestion. Dr. gave two tablets per day, together with some kind of caugh syrup. I had no sleeping problems perhaps because the syrup makes you sleepy and the drug makes you alert and so they cancel out. I only took 4 tablets so far. My only bad side effect is that my eyes are getting teary and red and full of crud. Is there somebody out there to whom the drug helped?

I was prescribed Guaifen 600Mg tablets to help alleviate sinus and chest congestion. It seemed to help for the first day, but today at noon I literally thought I was going to die. I experienced severe dizziness to the point I had to hold my head up. I was ubable to stand or walk. My co-workers said all the color disappeared from my face and my hands, feet and arms felt as though I was standing an ice cold shower. My co-workers took my blood pressure and pulse and they were normal, It took at least 30 minutes before I could get up.

When I started I was on Doxycycline at the same time I am on both for 10 days for sinus infection and chest congestion I Get really dizzy I have injured myself a few times on the meds and im loosing weight. Never do I want this med again, No sleep and its ruining my relationship I have turned very mean.

I have had trouble sleeping. It did help sinus congestion. Then moved to chest congestion that did not have before
