Guaifenex and cough

My doctor prescribed me Guaifenex for a sinus infection along with trimethobenx for upset stomach along with advair ( a powder inhaler) never knew why she prescribed all of this medication just for a sinus infection. I stopped taken the advair an experienced shortness of breath, bad headaches, but one things for sure I only eat one meal a day. Oh by the way I can't sleep at night and extremely tired in the morning to start the cycle all over again the next day. It leave a very nasty taste in my mouth i'm constantly brushing my tongue it leave a coating on it. The drainage I can never cough up and my ears has been clogged since I started these meds. I take tylenol pm just to sleep. Something to think about before taking this medication. You get it for a sinus infection but end up with a headache.

I was prescribed this drug for an upper respiratory infection. I definitely couldn't stay at work after taking it & had to go home! Felt light-headed, dizzy, but it did make the cough go away and has helped me sleep. I've been taking it for a week now and somedays I experience an annoying headache that lingers around all day. It does the job, but I would definitely recommend staying home if you're gonna take this drug.

I was suffering with a cough and congestion around Thanksgiving, which waned and came back when my kids inoculated me with the FLU!
I was already dying with the virus, so the "sponge head and tongue" and super dry nosrtils side effects from GUAiFENEX were not too unpleasant.
I did feel bad more from the medication after 4-6 days when the flu was clearing up, so I stopped taking it.
Here I am 15 days after stopping and I am feeling almost normal.
I am glad I did not experience some symptoms of the flu that would have made the GUAiFENEX unbearable to take.

I was given Guaifenex for thick mucus in my sinus, but after a week on Guaifenex I ended up at my asthma doctor, and was told it wasn't my asthme, I needed to go back to the sinus doctor. I was having a hard time breathing, felt like something was sitting on my chest, bad cough, and more headaches. After reading these posting, I am off this med as of tonight. Thaks

tAKING 1 0R 2 600MG A DAY FOR CONGESTION. NOTICE THAT MY HEART HAS BEEN BEATING LIKE A RACE HORSE. ALSO I DRINK A LOT OF WATER AND MY MOUTH IS STILL DRY, ALSO COUGH SO HARD AFTER TAKING PILL THAT I URINATE ON MYSELF. i AM NOT TAKING ANYMORE. i AM SO GLAD THAT I FIND THIS WEB SITE. THANKS.

I too have had trouble sleeping and have developed a bad cough. I never cough when I get sick so I'm sure this drug has something to do with it.

I was feeling better the day after I got a prescription for Guaifenex, but after reading these symptoms I've noticed several of them in myself. Mainly feeling hot and restless sleep; I could sleep, but I'd wake up frequently and toss and turn for a bit. I also felt like my head was disconnected from my body which is partially due to the cold, but I think also to this drug. I'm stopping taking it after a couple of days, I'd rather cough and blow all this gunk out of my head and be done with this cold.

I am taking Guaifnex PSE -120 - the first time I took a whole pill and felt strange and hot and stay awake all night. Now I am taking a 1/2 pill every 12 hours for a cough. After taking it I cough very hard and deep for a period of time. And I am still waking up at night . I seems to be able to go back to sleep after a period of time. Also I lost 5 pounds in less than one week.

When I took the med I felt high. A little light headed, As time went on I began speeding and my heart started beating very fast. Also I started seeing everything around me like I was have a light acid trip. The air kind of sparkeled, I also got hot and I kept waking up every 1 and 1/2.
I had to take a bit of Zanex to slow my heart down. I took it to help a cough. I would rather cough.

The first time this medication was prescribed for me I could not sleep. It makes me cough all the time, and at night it makes me cough until I vomit. The second time the doctor prescribed a different dosage/medication but it was still Guaifenex. Same results. I have called to request a change in prescription.
