I had to re-start Lisinopril recently (almost 3 months now) and did not realize until I saw my Dr. last week that it was quite possible that that was what was causing my nagging cough, liquid phlegm cough-ups, burping at night, dehydration overnight, scratchy throat off and on at all hours of the day, loud chest coughing occasionally, my eyelashes are more brittle now, some leg cramping, and toe cramps, and watery right eye, would tear up quite a bit during heavy bouts of coughing. :( He just changed me to HCTZ which now I'm wondering if that is the same thing as Lisinopril? It reads that at the top of this post--what if they both cause an allergic reaction like this I am ALLERGIC TO SULFA COMPOUNDS so upon reading that pharmacist note above, I'm going to speak to my Pharmacist, My Dr's and my chiropractor too. I'll tell everyone I know, I've already heard from 3 other people that say they had a nagging cough and it turned out to be their blood pressure medicine.

Have any females suffered from decreased sexual desire with this med? I have had the cough, weakness, dizziness, sore throat, runny nose, numbness and tingling in my hands, weakness in lifting with my arms, coughing, and catch my breath a lot. I thought it was just "getting used to the med". I am convinced this is a dangerous med, I am off it for good.

I have been taking lisinopril for about a year.I have had many of the side effects listed here...dizziness,nausea,lack of energy and that TERRIBLE cough. It starts when you least suspect it,the most awful dry throat and cough.Recently my doctor increased my dose and I have noticed in the first few days I have decreased urine output and palpitations especially when reclining.I will let my doctor know on Monday for all the good it will do.Physicians are never real happy when you complain about side effects and many times they ignore you or make you feel like you are imagining these problems.

Cough which after several months subsided but my knees crack when I walk. Dr. says can't be meds but it didn't start until I went on the med. Quit taking them and cracking subsided. BP went to 225/102 so started taking again last week and knees are cracking again.

I'm suffering really bad! I've had this unbelievable cough that's about to make me lose my mind! I've got low back pain so severely I can hardly walk across the floor. It wasn't until I read other postings about the side effects of this drug that I realized the devastation of it! I stopped taking it yesterday. Could someone please tell me how long this drug stays in your system? I can hardly sleep at night for the severe coughing. I just choke on phlegm all day long! HELP!!!!

I have been on lisiipril for 3 months and have a retching cough many times each day that produces clear phlegm. Cough subsides after expelling phlegm, but reccurs in a short while. I do not seem to have any sinus condition, and it doesn't appear to be connedcted to any lung problems. It wakes me up at night 2-3 times. HELP.

Me too... I've had a nagging cough ever since an upper resp tract infection (treated & improved w Z-pak). This has been over a month ago. I started Lisinopril:HCTZ combo many months ago & no complaints before. Could drug be the cause of my cough? I've been thinking I aggravated my throat from all of the coughing w the sinus infection. Whatever - it's a drag! My SO is tired of my coughing & fumigating our living space with Hall's cough drops all the time. My BP is good though.... I'm thankful for that.
