I no longer take Imitrex as it makes my migraines 100x worse, more frequent; but I was reading following side affects everyone has.... Ive dealt with the queasiness, feeling lethargic and such....
But some of the ones not listed that I had was extreme abdominal and stomach cramping where I was in fetal position (i kid you not), my back felt as if i had a warm heating pad to it (kind of a benefit on cold days!) and from the calves down, I felt as if I were walking around with 25 pound weights on both legs; I felt very weak and could barely move.
Anybody ever experience any of this!? :(

Beware!!! I took this for years and those warm feelings in the neck, face, and shoulders now are persistent even after not taking it for over 2 years now.
THANKS DR. AND BIG PHARMA....I truly believe that this medication has damaged the nerves in my neck and cheeks...
I am waiting to see if others experience this...and hope a class action can be started...
AVOID THIS MEDICATION AT ALL COSTS...my first tip off was when my Dr. said she would wonder how my heart would be at 60..i said, WHY? Oh because of using Imitrex all these years! HELLO...no one ever said,oh by taking this you are increasing your risk of heart problems down the road..
I NEVER WOULD OF STARTED..
Seek alternate routes for migraine help..find a good Naturopathic Dr. and even a chiropractor...they can help a lot of headache sufferers..
REMEMBER...FLUSH THOSE IMTIREX PILLS>..THEY ARE BAD...
If I had even suspected this pain in my cheek and neck I would not of taken a single pill...
The headaches go away..this pain is here a lot...not every day, but more days than I got headaches..
THANKS AGAIN BIG PHARMA>....
You'll be hearing from me if a lawsuit finally comes around.

I have been on imitrex and atenolol for a week. It has caused pain in the right side of my neck that runs through my right arm.I'm trying to stop my headaches, not cause more pain. Ithink the medication is unsafe if you have to use a low dose blood preasure medicine with it. Imitrex, and it's counterparts shuold be pulled from the market! It all stems from doctors trying not to prescribe narcotic type medication for headaches.

im taking imitrex and i love it. i have no real side effects and they take care of the headaches in a decent time. the only problem i have found is my body becomes reliant on it and i soon get headaches spontaniously. other then that it really works. i have had the shot too. it takes away the pain quicker however it made me a little disoriented and tired.

I took Imitrex the first time and I thought I was going to freak out. WOW! My throat was tight and I was burning all over. Then my arms and legs hurt so bad I could not move. The headache went away after all of that. I did not try it again for a month and then I got another bad headache and I thought that I would try it again. It did the same thing to me. I thought that I was going to die. I promised the Lord if He let me live, I would never take another one. And, I am keeping my promise just as He did. There are better alternatives to headaches.

I am 39 and have had true migraine attacks since I was a child. I say true migraine attacks because they are different then just a bad headache! The pain, throwing up, dry heaves and weird aura are "hell on earth!" I have noticed that if my headache isn't a true migraine and I take the Imitrex, the side affect are ten times worse! Reading a lot of the messages on this site makes me wonder if doctors are prescribing it for the common bad headaches! There are side effects either way but much worse if the headache is not a true migraine. My side effects have been neck pressure, sleepiness, queasiness, and very sore arm pain. But it is not worse than the migraine so I take it when needed. I do not recommend cutting this pill in half! God Bless the migraine sufferers! I know how the torture feels!
