A friend of mine directed me to here. After reading all of the side effects I realized that a lot of what is going on with me is these bc pills. I knew that the cramping and bleeding was from the pills but I didn't realize that my spaciness and inability to focus has been the pills. I have been noticing at work that my employer tells me one thing and i do the opposite and I can't figure out why I am not on top of it like I usually am. My heart feels like it is beating faster and I find that I am anxious and always starving and having to eat a lot, which is not like me. Slight headaches too and slight muscle pain - can these all be from this pill?
I used to take Seasonale but my dr recommended this one because it is the generic brand that is way cheaper. But I never had the side effects from seasonal that I am having now. I just thought these side effects were just me but now I know it is the pill. I am definitely quitting these and get Seasonale again. This is crazy, these side effects!
I feel sorry for women who can't switch because they can't afford the more expensive one and they weigh the side effects against having horrible periods, moodiness...etc.It all depends on which side effects are worse, the pill or their monthly period.
We trust that our best interest is at heart, but it isn't. I can tell you one thing, if a man was the one who got pregnant, the pill would be perfected with very little side effects if any.

This month is my sixth month of Jolessa. I'm confused and hoping someone can help me. I have had no spotting up until this month, and I am due to get my period in 2 weeks. Should I be concerned? I've felt bloated and cramp-y as well, all of my usual few days before side effects.

I have severe endometriosis & a double uterus(yes, that means 2 separate periods). My periods would last between 7 & 15 days w/ heavy clotting & very painful cramps. Last year my dr. said he didn't think it was good to bleed every month, so he put me on Jolessa. The 1st month was great w/ no period & no side effects. Then I started spotting & had a period on & off for about 2 months. Then, I didn't have my period for 2 months @ all & the following month had a 3 day period. The next month(May), I started spotting & it continued until 2 weeks ago(2nd week of July). Then an actual period started & is still continuing. So that's 7 weeks of spotting & 2 weeks(so far) of full bleeding. Besides the on/ off bleeding, I have had no other side effects. Although this severely irregular bleeding is annoying, it is still better than my regular periods so I am reluctant to stop taking them. My dr. said it could really take up to a year to fully regulate my cycle, so I am willing to wait.

I love Jolessa! I haven't had any major side effects. I take pills continuously and just have light break throughs every now and then — much more manageable than my normal period! I haven't experienced weight gain, though my breasts are slightly larger than when I am off the pill, a pretty normal side effect of any pill. No mood swings and 100% less cramps than my normal cycle. Every woman is different, so this may or not be the pill for you!

I've been on Jolessa for 3 cycles, and I have finally come to the filler pills, and for whatever reason I decided I didn't need to take them, and I'm done. My body just screamed no more.
The first two cycles were fine, it took some adjusting, but the third cycle I had constant bleeding for two weeks. Now I've become so depressed I feel as though I'm falling apart. I cannot describe the heaviness I feel, it's like losing your mind, and for sure I will not be starting the next cycle. Worse birth control ever.

I have only been taking Jolessa for two weeks and already feel so depressed. I have always been a happy person and now getting out of bed sometimes is difficult. I have to force myself to laugh at jokes and nothing seems to cheer me up. I also feel anxious a lot. I cant say that I am certain it is because of the pill, however, there have been no other changes in my lifestyle or diet. I have experienced no other side effects and will continue taking it until I run out.

I was thinking about switching from Seasonique, which I loved, to Jolessa due to the giant cost difference. Has anyone made this switch? Also, has anyone had spotting who has been on a birth control that lasted 91 days like Seasonique or Seasonale, after making the switch to Jolessa?
I've been on Seasonique for over a year and it has worked very well and I only get my period four times a year, without spotting, but it is too expensive for me to keep paying for out of pocket.

I have been on MANY birth control pills over 15 years, and this is the first one with NO breakthrough bleeding. I have always bled randomly through-out the month, or when I was an hour late taking the pill I would get a full week's period. With jolessa I could be a full 24 hours late and have no bleeding. After 15 years of not going more than two weeks without bleeding, 3 months with none is the best thing thats happened to me since this "womanhood" sh*t started. Two weeks before my period I get typical swollen sore breasts, acne, and extreme anger, depression and irritation that makes me not want to not live and my family and co-workers want to kill me- BUT better two weeks every three months than the normal one week out of every four weeks. Oh! and I am insanely hungry, I need almost twice the food I used to eat in order to not faint of hunger! ( minimal weight gain, but I can hardly afford all the food)

Wow , thanks so much for all postings, it is so helpful and helps feel much better, that I am not alone here, sorry for my English I am in states for couple years. I started Jolessa, and I hate it , totally hate it. Gain weight with no reason. After one month taking it, I got my period on time. So now it has been two weeks period. I called my doctor she told me it is normal, continue. I couldn’t take this freaking period anymore, so I stopped. After 2 days I am getting more bleeding then before. So I am going to weight for couple days and call my doctor if she is not help me, I will go to ER.
There is anyone know if this is ok to stop it after one month? And if bleeding will stop any time soon>?

I've been on Jolessa for about a year, and I'm a week away from finishing the pack. I've been experiencing dizziness, heart palpitations, tightness in my chest, depression, crying at everything, nausea, and weird, short bursts of blurred vision. I'm considering going to the ER, but afraid that it's just nothing, but afraid if I don't go, I'll have a deadly blood clot. I am definitely going to my doctor in two weeks, but I don't know if I can wait that long. I've had a terrible experience with Jolessa, but I always got migraines on other forms of the pill (ortho). I'm afraid to try depo, because I don't want to gain any more weight. Any suggestions?? please reply if you have any advice. I'm only 27 and am quitting smoking (I know, it's bad)

I had taken Jolessa for about a month and I went in to have a minor surgery like 30 minute surgery, 8 days after my surgery I was suddenly waken @ 5am with the worst pain in my chest went to ER and ended up having multiple blood clots(PE) in my lungs, was near death, and felt that way too! I and doctor believe that Jolessa had a lot to do with this. So please beware of this, I'm only 32 yrs old, and have to be on blood thinners for at least 6 months to a year, and worry daily about my life!
I too had lots of headaches, and was moody!

I am on my seconded pack (month 4) I have endo and thought it would be awesome to only have my period 4 times a year. To my dismay, I've been spotting for the past 2 months and counting. I had a full period about 3 weeks ago and had hoped it was ending and the spotting has continued! I don't want to give up this far. I am SO hopeful that it will stop, but I am really losing that hope. Also, I have cramping still (maybe from the endo) and feel like an emotional wreck!!! I do NOT want to go back to having my regular periods... they were really heavy and severely painful, but this is really getting old fast too! I am 34 and am thinking that maybe I should just go talk to the Dr. about having a hysterectomy. I don't have children and don't think I'll ever have any anyways. Im older and am not in a relationship, so maybe I should just take the plunge?! Help!

I have endometreosis and casuses me a lot of pain.I've been on all types of birth control Ortho- Evra, Ortho tricycline...My doctor put me on Jolessa about 1.5 years ago. During the first 10 months I was perfect it help me out a great deal with my endo. But during these last few months I have experienced headaches, severe mood swings, depression, blood pressure irregularities, cramping and on top of that hair loss. I'd much rather deal with the pain than go through all of this. Not sure of whats out there that will help me out?

I've been on it for about 9 months 3 cycles, I gained water weight in the beginning but I lost it, but all of a sudden I started spotting today, that's why I'm doing my research, I do think Jolessa made my cramps a 100 times worse though!
So I think I'm gonna try something else?

I have been experiencing the same symptoms and went to my doctor and she said it was normal also but asked me if it had an odor because that could mean an STD, which it doesn't have an odor and i don't have an std. I have been with the same guy for 2 years and we are both monogomis and have been only with each other sexually. But the brown discharge has been going on for about a week and a half. Im am very edgy and feel like Im in a constant state of PMS. I tried to get my doc to switch me to Yaz cause I have heard good things about that but they insisted I wait it out but this has not stopped and I do not want this brown discharge forever. Let me know how your change of pills worked out and if it made everything better. Thanks!

I went to this web site because I want to help my wife. She's been on Jolessa for 8 weeks now. As of this week, her heart has been "fluttering" for lack of a better word. She went to the ER room and they said basically that nothing's wrong with her but she is experiencing premature ventricular contractions (PVC's) which are not dangerous (according to the doctors). She asked the doc's if she should stop taking Jolessa and of course they said,"no."
We're wondering if anyone else is experiencing this feeling with this junk? My wife is 38 years old, healthy, never had heart problems or disorders. As of the past few weeks though, she's been feeling down in the dumps, sluggish and has a slight mode change.
If anyone is experiencing a change in heart rhythm, since taking Jolessa, please post it here. Thank you.

My Dr. prescribed Seasonale (which I had been on for 5+ years), but the pharmacy gave me generic Jolessa. I thought, "How different can it be?" It started out with chronic headaches in the afternoon. After being on Jolessa for about a year, I had two "attacks" where my eyes went blurry and my arm and face went numb. The doctors checked me for blood clots and a stroke. All of my tests came back ok. When I went to the emergency room the second time, the ER doctor told me to get off of the Jolessa immediately! This was about three months ago, and I haven't had any problems since! I am 26, very healthy, don't smoke or drink...I'm sure it was the Jolessa.

I am now finishing my first package of Jolessa. I'm taking the reminder pills as of now, but so far I haven't had any problems whatsoever with this product. I have tried several different forms of bc, such as the shot: that ballooned me and made me huge. When I took Othro (both types), they increased my migraines incredibly to where I was seeing a headache specialist who then pulled me off. I am very surprised to see that so many people are having so many issues with jolessa, especially seeing as how I always have some type of side effect from BC. So sorry everyone has had bad experiences with it.

What symptoms have you experienced coming off of the generic form of Seasonale called Jolessa? Right now I am so confused if whether these are withdrawal symptoms or pregnancy considering I've already taken HPT that came out neg. Some of these symptoms were only there during the last month I was on them until now which is why it's confusing. My 2 years on Jolessa I've experienced spotting for 2 out of the 3 months with a 1-3 day period, psoriasis, bloating, dizziness, and headaches. When I came off I started my period 3 days later then came all the breast tenderness, nausea, hot flashes, insomnia, fatigue, abdominal pain, and back pain. Now 29 days later is brownish-pink bloody show like substance with severe cramping. I was fine before I went on Jolessa (regular cycle, just didn't want periods) now I am messed up!

I looked up all the symptoms on a formal drug website and not only did I have all of the minor symptoms I had at least 4 of the ones that said go seek medical attention right away. I called my doctors office and basically got scolded for calling them asking them a question about what I should do.Supposedly I'm fine and they said it wont kill me one more week to wait it out.... secretly I hoped it would (( but that was just the depression from this damn pill )) I've decided to stop taking it today. The cramps its supposed to be preventing really aren't gone and I don't need all this other crap along with them.

I developed really bad eczema, hives on and off and random swelling of the face and headaches. Not quite sure these are side effects but am going to find out. I went off of this 3 days ago and already feel more like myself again. Maybe it's just knowing that Im not crazy and that it's the hormones!! Thanks everyone for posting. My Dr. prescribed Seasonale, but pharmacy gave me generic Jolessa. I've been taking it for 1 1/2 months and have been bleeding since after the 1st week. I have mass amounts of constant brown discharge and clotting with daily breakthrough bleeding. I get headaches, cramping, bloating, light headed and dizzy episodes, and my mood has been edgy (maybe from a sexless marriage due to these pills, lol). I've been taking bc for 16 years and have never experienced these symptoms with any other pill I've taken.
Spoke with my doctor's office a few weeks ago and was told that the bleeding can be normal and don't be surprised if it lasts for 2 WHOLE CYCLES that is 6 months of bleeding and clotting! I know what is normal for my body and this is not it! I'm calling my doctor for the 2nd time today and will demand my prescription be changed to either the name brand Seasonale (which my ins will cover) or my previous pill.

I don't know I have been on it for two weeks, now I have headache and yes I feel like my insides are twisting up inside of me don't know if its the medication or my endometriosis? I have cyst and fibroids also inside of me that might be shedding in size due to hormones? Don't know what to think for sure but I have been depressed lately more than usual. I thought it was me just thinking just my mind is messing with me but after reading these posts I figure It must be this jolessa s**t! Not sure if I'm going to stay on this for another cycle of piss.... BUT I need to take something for my REALLY BAD CASE OF ENDO? Does any one else with endo know of a better BC? I don't really like playing with different drugs in my body. I will feel better with dealing with one good/decent BC that can help my endo!!!PLEASE HELP!!!Don't know what to do!!!

I started taking Jolessa after having been off birth control for about 1.5 years. Previously I was on Mircette and didn't have any problems. Within a few days of starting Jolessa, I felt depressed and not myself. I felt like I was retaining water and felt 10 pounds heavier. I thought maybe my body had to get use to the hormones, but after 3 weeks of side effects, I couldn't take it anymore and went off it. Within a few days of stopping Jolessa, I felt like myself again. After reading many of these posts, I plan on trying ortho tri-cylcen lo, as it seems people have fewer side effects with that.

I have been on Jolessa for 3 months now. As of now I have been experiencing this "breakthrough bleeding" for a full 2 months now. Once every two weeks I have mild cramping and I have gained at least 10-15 lbs. Each time I call the doctor I am told to give it a little while longer and that if I am still bleeding by 4th month that we will have to do something else. Also I am told to take 3 Advils 3 times a day as well and eat a lot of food filled with iron and protein (for energy). I am tired all the time, headaches and unusually depressed. I cry at the drop of a hat too. I am not happy about this at all and all of this was to control the bad cramping and clotting of the regular 7-10 day periods I was having. Any suggestions out there? Each Birth Control Method I click on on this web page seems to have the similar side effects. Is there any relief from this?

When I started it it was ok then it got so much worse and well I stopped taking it because I got sick and couldn't keep it down in my stomach then when I started taking it again I had my period the whole 3 month cycle when I asked my doctor he said that it was ok because it wasn't a heavy flow but I still felt uncommon then my period finally stopped and I was left with a very weird discharge it was almost snot like. It was gooey and brown almost looked like the color of dried up blood if any one else has experienced this I would like to hear what you did to help it

I had mild cramping the first day and every day after I started taking Jolessa. I started my period a week and a half after my first pill. I called my doctor on the 11th day. She said to keep taking it that my experiences were not uncommon. I suffered through until day 20 when I called her again. She said I could stop taking it if I really felt my body was telling me to, otherwise stay on it through the end of the cycle (4 weeks) and then we would talk about putting me on something else. On day 23 I decided there was no way I could put up with this for another 4 weeks and stopped taking Jolessa. The day I stopped taking it I experienced cramping and my flow got heavier. I'm now on day 25 and even though I am still on my period, my body feels like its starting to get back to "normal." My skin broke out terribly and i was very bloated. In just the two days I haven't taken Jolessa both issues have gotten better substantially. I would never recommend this product to anyone...I've never felt like such a prisoner of my own body.

I refuse to take this pill anymore. Ever since I started taking it, I have been extremely emotional and irritable. I have always been a pansy, but since I started Jolessa, I cry over EVERYTHING! Also, if I was as little as 30 minutes late taking my pill, I would start getting cramps. And this is the icing on the cake. My period started two weeks before it was supposed to and has been going on for two weeks straight. It has finally started getting lighter, but the cramps are still bad. I stopped taking the pills two days ago and will never take another one. This product is horrible.

I'm on my 3rd month of Jolessa. I've got about another 2 weeks until my first period, but I've been breakthrough bleeding for 3 weeks already.
I've had several abnormal mood swings and it's also been affecting my sex life.
*Most recently I've started to have a difficult time breathing. Feeling breathless and not feeling like I'm getting enough air and gasping. Also, slight wheezing now.. Has anyone else experienced this?
It just doesn't seem worth it..
