I had a Kenalog injection in May. I was on vacation in Vegas and had bad allergies and ear pain due to my allergies. I went to an urgent care center and they injected the shot in my right butt cheek. I noticed an indention in that spot today and never would have linked it to the injection. I did online searches and put it together. I called the urgent care center and spoke with a nurse who told me that muscle atrophy at the injection site is a side affect and yes it can take several months to show up. In my case exactly 5 months to the day. The doctor called me back. I asked why he did not tell me about the side effects. His response was that only 1% of people get this kind of side effect. I highly doubt that this is accurate considering I can google it and find many people with the same reaction. I asked if it will go away and he said it may never go away. I am 27 and in shape. I am interested in pursuing this legally if it does not go away. It is pretty upsetting.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who has experienced this - not that I want others to experience it, but you know what I mean, it is nice to have some answers!!! I went in to get an allergy shot for my horrible allergies about eight months ago - I have had one done previously a couple years ago, with no problems, and this second one seemed fine too. My allergies are so much better, i can breathe and am not sneezing constantly, etc. However, about a month ago, I noticed this small indentation in my left buttock cheek - I wondered what on earth it could be (cellulite, weight gain/loss from going to the gym I started going to, who knew?) It got bigger and hasn't gone away over these past few weeks, instead getting larger and my skin becoming ever whiter than I already am and the area is sensitive. I had no idea what it was until I stumbled onto this site - I now realize that indentation is the same spot where I received my allergy shot eight months ago!!! I checked my online medical record and sure enough, Tricyclamide Kenalog injection! NOBODY told me that this indentation/muscle atrophy at the injection site was a possible side effect! They warned me about allergic reactions, drug interactions, buildup of steroids in the system, etc, but absolutely nothing about this awful indentation - it is sensitive and unattractive and I really, really hope it goes away or at least shrinks. Not that I am super vain, but it's not all that cute to have a big "hole" in your cheek, especially when that was one of my body areas I actually felt okay about. Just be forewarned allergy sufferers - just because you haven't had a reaction the first time you get the shot, it could happen the second or third or fortieth time. I wish someone had said something about this, so at least I would have been able to make a more educated decision and choose whether to suffer through a few months of allergies or a lifetime butt indentation!

I got my first Kenalog shot a few days ago for allergy symptoms, and I gotta tell you, I definitely regret it! I had asked about side effects before the dr. gave it to me, and she said there weren't any. I feel like I should start a lawsuit!! Anyway, the side effects I'm having are no picnic and have already been changing my life: sleeplessness, anxiety, not breathing correctly, heart pounding like crazy! I'm wondering how long I have to ride this out, as the dr. said this shot is given for allergies 2x a year. I will NEVER get the shot again!!

Had a steroid shot combo of Kenalog and something else for allergies about 3 years ago. Didn't make the association then about the deep indentations on my upper buttocks and the shot I had in that same area a few month earlier until I found this website. I just had another Kenalog shot (in my arm) for allergies about 5 weeks ago. Since then I've had two periods the second of which is dragging on and on. I was a bit panicked until I searched and found this website and another and found others who had the same symptoms. I called my primary doctor and they had no idea of this side effect. He said to come in for a follow up if my symptoms continue. Meanwhile, it is really stressing me out due to a family history of cancer. ******

Kenalog has been a god-send for me. I came to the doctor with extremely infected sinuses. After sinus surgery to clean everything out my sinuses were still very inflamed. I have had about 3 kenalog shots over a time period and they make me feel so good I actually feel like I can live again. Now I have had a hysterectomy so I obviously do not have the bleeding side effects, but I have not noticed any other side effects either. My only wish is I could get a shot every two weeks until my allergies/sinuses calm down!

I had my kenalog injection over a week ago. The winds here in the desert have been horrible this year and i was experiencing a daily sinus headache and my allergies were beyond what a claritin, allegra and a sudafed combined could combat. Within a day of getting an injection in right butt cheek area all of my sinus problems have ceased. Day three i stopped taking all of my medications for my allergies. I was also able to stop taking an anti inflammatory for my knee and the arches of my feet. They have never felt so good. My excema and asthma symptoms although mild have also cleared up. On the down side. I seem to be eating like a horse, insomnia and wild dreams seem to be plaguing me. But this is also the case when i take prednisone. I had this shot a few years back for the knee and foot arch pain and back then before my hysterectomy i did experience break through bleeding on my birth control pills a week early and very heavy. i decided that was the worse of my side effects back then. now that i wasn't able to have that problem i figured lets go for it again since i recall my sinuses clearing last time too, which was a bonus side effect for me then. overall i have found the positive effects definitely outweigh the negative effects for me.

gosh im glad i'm not the only one. i've been freaking out for 6 weeks having periods all the time except for like 2 days then it starts again. the told me i'd have some weight gain (which sucks) but not about the periods, it has been stressing me out! i just this morning had scheduled a obgyn appointment but it wasn't for two weeks so i looked up kenalog and menstrual stuff online and i found this. they should TELL YOU the side effects before. i had the shot for gnarly reoccurring allergies and sinus infections. i dont know what i'd rather have... weight gain and everyday periods or gnarly sinus infections... sounds like a lose lose situation to me. sigh. :( how long until the periods get normal, does anyone know? this sucks!

I have severe allergies and cronic sinusitis... like a lot of people on here I have taken all the allergy drugs they make for the past 9 years... Ive had tons of procedures done and sinus surgery last Feb '08. Nothing helps. Ive taken oral steriods many times but recently my new ENT decided to give me a Kenalog shot in Sept. Nothing was explained to me other than it was a steroid. The nurse put it in my left shoulder. I have had all the symptoms people are describing on here except the indent. I have been progressively getting sicker and feeling worse and worse over the past few months. I feel like I could go to bed and just stay there. Now this past Monday he gave me another Kenalog shot in my left shoulder. I heard something on a tv show that it causes depression so I jumped on this site and feel sick about all the messages I have read about people's terrible side effects. I feel like my doctor who I trusted let me down. I am so worried that my shoulder is going to have a big grey dent like everyone is describing on here. I am just so tired of being ill.

I got a Kenalog injection a few months ago for severe allergies. My period showed up a week earlier than it should have, and I have now been bleeding heavily for over a month. Nobody at my doctor's office warned me of this side effect. I need to make an appt. to see someone about my bleeding because it just continues to get worse. Had I known this would happen, I never would have agreed to getting that injection!!

I had a Kenalog shot about a month ago, due to having more phlegm than even the doctor could believe. My allergies are heinous. However, I felt no relief from the congestion or mucus from the shot. (He also put me on Nasacort, which I've noticed, in my week of use, has improved things slightly.)
Anyway, for about a month, I've been feeling exhausted. This remarkable fatigue has been plaguing me. I can't get out of bed, I fall asleep any time I sit still for too long. And I get plenty of sleep.
So here I am, on the internet, looking up causes, thinking I could have thyroid problems or cancer. Until my chiropractor mentioned that it might be the shot. So I researched it, and have seen that other people are having fatigue and sleeping problems, as well. Now I think I know the cause.
In conclusion, the shot rarely helps anyone and mostly only causes problems. I suggest moving to California for allergies.

I URGE YOU TO PLEASE SUBMIT ANY ADVERSE EVENTS OF THIS TERRIBLE KENALOG DRUG TO THE FDA--JUST CLICK THIS LINK AND COMPLETE THE FORM: http://www.fda.gov/medwatch/. The FDA is responsible for assuring safety of medications. Therefore, it is imperative that the FDA recognize the adverse effects to provide any credibility to a class action suit. Please consider forwarding your case to the FDA to force them into action and begin addressing these atrocities.
Here's my case: I am also a victim of having the Kenalog injection administered over a year ago to alleviate poison ivy itching symptoms. Prior to having the injection, I was not informed of any side effects. Not only did the injection not alleviate the symptoms, but has resulted in a discolored and uncomfortable indentation in my left buttock area and psychological anguish because of disfigurement of my body. It is over a year later and the indent remains and continues to cause discomfort. The dermatologist who administered the injection stated that there was nothing I could do to reverse such effects. I reported my case to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) Med Watch and strongly urge others to report their adverse event to the FDA (see link above).

I have received Kenalog injection for my allergy 3 times already. It is the best medication I ever had. The allergy was gone almost immediately and I had no side effects. This medication should be on the market for all the patients suffering from allergies. I believe that the only enemies to the shots are the allergy specialists because they would not have a job.

Wow, I am surprised to hear all the comments on Kenalog. Is it just me, or does it seem like it really effects females negatively? I am a 43 yr old male that has the worse year round allergies known to man. I have had sinus surgery, and been on every known allergy drug that is available. Went to an allergist and started the drop therapy under the tongue, which seemed to make my allergies worse, so after 9 months I quit the drops. I had tried everything, including air cleaners in every room of the house, no pets, and no carpet.
I went to an urgent care one day because I was 100% blocked and would have been happy if my nose was severed from my face at that point. My doctor asked if I wanted to try the Kenalog shot, and I replied give it to me , give it to me!
This was several years ago and I now receive the shot 3 times a year and have never been happier. The only thing that has ever helped my allergies! I don't have any dents in my rear, so maybe it effects females differently than males.

My hair is falling out too!! Since January I have had 2 kenalog shots for allergies and 2 shots for poison ivy. My side effects are hair loss, depression, headaches, bruise easily, swollen joints, weight gain, and a dent on my rear. These effects did not start until I had 2 shots, now it is so severe. I was so scared when my hair started falling out but knew that I didn't have Lupus or Diabetes which could cause the same side effects...I have been tested for both and do not have either.
Please let us know if there are anymore out there who have hair loss because of the Kenalog Shot.

I have contacted an attorney in Delaware who is willing to pursue a possible class action suit. I explained my side effects from this drug and told him of the countless others that are suffering as well. He said if I was willing to do the "legwork" and gather up names of others who would like to join this suit, perhaps we could get a class action started. If anyone is interested please reply by contacting me at ***** Please be sure to type "Kenalog" as the subject and include your name, email address, and a description of your experience with Kenalog. I will than gather your responses and forward them to the attorney. He will than contact you individually, so please include a contact number. This will take some time. So please be patient, as you know these cases take time. I have spent 15 months trying to get some kind of help from various doctors, to no avail. Someone needs to step up and take responsibility.
Hope to hear from many of you. Thank You

Hey all,
i had the shot about a couple of months ago to help with my allergies. The shot did not seem to help and the nurse who administered it said nothing about any side effects, so i figured it was completely safe. A couple of weeks ago in the shower i noticed an indention on my right butt cheek where the injection site is. I had no idea what was going on until my mother told that she had heard that it was one of the side effects of the shot. After reading the many postings on this site, i feel as though to many women have had to experience the same thing, with no doctors every telling of the side effects. I don't believe it is right for a shot to be administered if the patient has not been informed.

I can't attribute this directly to my cortisone shot - however, I've noticed that the past few months I have been losing my hair. I can pull it out virtually by the handfuls anymore! I am only 24 - this doesn't seem normal and the only change I could point to is the shot. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD HAIR LOSS THEY CAN TIE TO A CORTISONE SHOT?
I also noticed a change in my period. Nothing as extreme as I'm reading here - but I'm so glad to have read this - puts my mind more at ease to know have a cause for that.
I have tried other remedies - but the cortisone shot has been the only thing to actually work. Any other ideas?

Yes, kenalog has many side effects with SOME people. I'm both a patient that takes kenalog and a third year medical student. I've been receiving kenalog injections twice a year during allergy season for the past 5 years. All I can say is THANK GOD. I can deal with a itchy/running nose, the sneezing, and the itchy eyes. What I cannot deal with are the asthma symptoms that act up whenever my allergies do. I get little enough sleep as is, what I do get doesn't need to be interrupted by waking up not being able to breath.
What must be realized here is that however many posts are on this and like sites, the people who suffer from the side effects are in the minority. For most patients this drug provides great relief with little to no side effects.
For those who said that their doctors did not tell them what they were being given, or warned about the side effects, yes, those physicians should have warned their patients about the possible side effects. HOWEVER, it is also YOUR responsibility as a patient to ASK what you are being given, and what the possible side effects are. Never let anyone just stick a needle in your butt without asking what the heck they're doing first. I'm not defending those physicians that don't tell the patient what they're doing; they are in the wrong. But they see tons of patients very day, most of it route. And many patients lack the knowledge to ask what they are being given, and what might happen from it. Even if the physician took the time to explain, a lot of people wouldn't understand or simply don't care. Don't be one of those patients. Ask your PCP: what is this drug? what does it do? what are the possible side effects? what percentage of patients experience these side effects?. Take some responsibility for yourselves.

I regularly got steriod injections for my allergies. This last time I went to my allergist to get my "regular" injection, I noticed that it stung pretty bad going in. I didn't think anything of it and left. About 3 months later I noticed a small indention under my skin at the injection site. Now, 9 months after my last injection I have a huge golf ball size dent in my upper buttocks. It is not going away or getting any better. I would be interested in a class action lawsuit against the company and any advice to possibly take action against my allergist. You can reach me at ******
Thanks for reading

I have had three kenalog shots: once when i was 15 to combat severe allergies, sinusitis, rhinitis, nasal polyps, and everything else that can go wrong in the nose. I also have moderate to severe persistent asthma. Yet after this shot i was cheerleading, running the mile and 800m in track, and running the 3mile in cross country. I had another shot almost 2 years ago after a severe asthma attack made me go to the hospital and yesterday i had another shot.
I have never had any adverse reactions to Kenalog (besides weight gain, same with prednisone) and i am sorry to hear that so many people have experienced terrible side effects. I have never had any mood swings, period problems, dissolving of my butt cheeks, joint pain, etc.
Kenalog keeps me alive and breathing.

Hey Everyone! I have some of the same side effects as most of you. I got the shot for my allergies on January 15. I literally had a non-stop period. My period would last for two weeks with an average of only 2 days in between the next period. I did not want to get put on birth control, so I kept hoping for my period to regulate itself or for the medicine to leave my system, but none of that ever happened. I went to see my physician on June 3. (That means I was on my period from January to June.)
I explained what happened to him, and he told me that he wanted to try medicine that is NOT birth control. He explained that the Kenalog shot, a steriod, probably interfered with my hormones. In order for a woman's body to function normally, she must have a normal balance of estrogen and progesterone. I had way too much estrogen because I was always on my period, so he put me on a drug called Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for seven days. I am happy to say that the drug worked, and I have been off of my period for SIX days so far! My physician also told me that it may take up to two months for my body to figure itself out and for my period to start again.
I hope this helps someone. Provera worked for me, so maybe it will work for those who do not want to get on birth control!

Until now I had no idea what the dents were on the lower back just above my right or left buttock. I have gotten Kenalog shots on both sides for allergies for the past 10 years! It first appeared on the left side then went away. Now I've got one on the right. It really doesn't bother me since it's covered all the time, even in a swim suit. However, this side effect cannot be good and I will deffinetely not be getting Kenalog shots anymore... but to anyone who is worried about it not going away: it did for me.

Wow - I had a great experience with kenalog in suppressing my allergies. They have been unbearable until getting the shot. I sat down with the doctor who went through the list of pros and cons with the drug. He said, and I agree wholeheartedly (I'm sure we all do) that no is more interested in or more responsible for my health than I am, so he said after going through the risks of meds that I should verify it for myself and if I felt comfortable with the shot he would give it. Can you imagine how much better off the world would be if we all took responsibility for ourselves - actually did our own homework? I've seen doctors before who don't really take the time to discuss side effects so I'm glad he did (but then, how many people ever read the drug information that the pharmacist gives out - can't really blame the doctor for that...). Anyways, given that I had severe symptoms that was affecting sleep and very low risk for osteoporosis I got the shot and man do I feel great!

Kenalog-40 I was never told what I was being given in my bottom, just that it would help with seasonal allergies. FDA site "Neurologic-Psychiatric: Psychic derangements may appear when corticosteroids are used, ranging from euphoria, insomnia, mood swings, personality changes, and severe depression to frank psychotic manifestations. Also, existing emotional instability or psychotic tendencies may be aggravated by corticosteroids." FDA More "Neuro-Psychiatric: Convulsions, depression, emotional instability, euphoria, headaches, increased intracranial pressure with papilledema(pseudotumor cerebri) usually following discontinuation of treatment, insomnia, mood swings, neuritis, neuropathy, paresthesia, personality changes, psychic disorders, vertigo. Arachnoiditis, meningitis, paraparesis/paraplegia, and sensory disturbances have occurred after intrathecal administration."
I went to an Urgent Care Clinic for allergies. My skin was crawling every time I left the house so I was told the cause was environmental allergies. The Benadryl wasn't helping. The nurse noticed my skin was patchy and swollen. Another nurse returned to the room and said this shot would help with the reactions. I was not told what it was till it was done and she mumbled the word Kenalog. Three hours later I was anxious and talking irratically. Pressured speech, I could not stop talking. I called Nurse Advice line, then told to call a Pharmacy Help Line, who in turn said to go to the ER but to not drive myself in such a condition. I was talking as if I was on speed or manic. The ER said to go home it was just an anxiety attack. I took 2mg Clonzepam to calm down and sleep. In the morning, the symptoms returned. I called the hospital pharmacy and was told to go in immediately to see my doctor, that it is a steroid and causes psychic reactions. My regular doctor didnt have an opening so I saw a different doctor who wasn't familiar with my normal personality. She said she saw nothing wrong no matter that she couldn't get a word in unless I physically put my hand over my mouth. She sent me to a Nurse/psychiatrist next door to her. He said there was nothing wrong also. I had to keep repeating myself, speeding along, stuttering because I was talking so fast, telling him I was going 100 miles an hour in my head and out my mouth. I thankfully had an appointment with my psychologist a few minutes later in a different part of the hospital. I see her weekly. She immediately saw my change in mood and personality and called the clinic nurse/psychiatrist and told him to prescribe clonzepam. I did some reading about kenalog 40 injections. The clinic doctors didnt have the same list of side effects as their own pharmacy. I should never have been given the shot because I already have an emotional/mood problem and have epilepsy. I have to increase my anti-convulsants for at least two weeks and watch my mood very very closely. Some days I "fly" then "crash" now. This is all new, extreme symptoms of an already existing condition. This Urgent Care Clinic nurse was told all these things by me, repeatedly because of all my allergies to drugs, daily convulsions and counselling I already undergo for PTSD. I was never seen by a doctor that day or counselled. I will never take a steroid again based on the information I now have on its effects on psychiatric and seizure conditions. I am already disabled because of daily seizures and now I have even more daily seizures. These mood swings and seizures will be abnormally high for over 3 weeks I was told by the doctors but the more reading I do the longer I find that the steroid will cause side effects. Epileptics or those with a low seizure thresh hold, anyone with psychiatric conditions, emotional problems such as panic attacks or anxiety, PTSD, depression, Please use caution with kenalog. My friends are very helpful and supportive during this time. They can see the emotional impact the steroids are having on me. They will tell me I am speeding and I say "sorry, its the 'roids talking" Now, I will be watching my butt, too. Its been 7 days since the injection.

HI, i too have to say i am kind of relieved after reading this website that i am not alone with my experiences of the kenalog injection. I was given kenalog injections to treat hayfever, although i wasn't told the name of the injection. They did help and i probably would of continued this year if it wasn't for the side effects.
I was told that to have one a yr was safe, then just before xmas i noticed a dent on my hip, this started getting larger and looked almost like scare tissue, I too was worried i had some sort of flesh eating disorder. The dent is still there and i will never have that injection again. I also have been experience problems with my hips and pain around my coxis,i am not sure if this too is related to the injection. I was told by my doctor who is very good that the kenalog had eaten my fat tissue causing a dent and that it will get better in time.

I have severe allergies and have tried many different allergy medications, but none seemed to work. My doctor decided to give me the shot. At first I was getting the shot every 2-3 months. I started hearing bad things about the shot such that it makes your bones weak and brittle. I was hesitant about getting the shot again so I waited for almost a year before getting my last shot. I was suffering with so much with my allergies that I decided to try the shot again. When I was at the doctor's office the last time, I asked for the shot and this time he told me about the side effects and said that he could only give it to me no more than 2 times per year. He didn't make it seem like it was a very bad drug. He calmly said that it's not good to get too much of it, but in my case, I can get it 2 times per year. Due to my allergy symptoms being unbearable, I decided to get the shot. Now I have bad joint problems on my knees and my wrists. I can no longer wear high heel shoes or type as much as before. I also have insomnia, which even with sleeping medication it still does not help 100%. I have had these symptoms before with my previous shots, but did not know what have caused it. Now I know the source of my continuing pain problems. I was hoping to find a solution to my allergy problem, but now have inherited more problems from this drug.

I am freaking out!! I just found this site and can't believe what I'm reading. I have a huge crater in my right buttock as well. This is the second time it has happened to me. After the first incident, I went to the doctor and she said she didn't know what it was, that it must have been due to trauma. This is the same doctor who prescribed the Kenalog shot for my allergies. It started out as a large bruise, so I assumed I must have hit something really hard and damaged the tissue. Now, a couple of yrs later, I have another, larger crater. I thought something really bad was wrong with me, so I decided to google and see what I could find. I am truly blown away by this and VERY upset that they did not warn me of this. I called the doctor, but they haven't returned my call yet. I'm concerned is this going to continue to get deeper? I also believe it affected my period as well. I have always been very regular, but for several months after the shot I would start my period every couple of weeks.

I've had a "dent" for about four years now, and had no idea what it was until now. I'm relieved to find out that it isn't anything like cancer.....but will it ever go away? Are there any known treatments or cures?
I'm very upset that my doctor gave me no warning of side effects of the Kenalog shot. I was only told that it would aid in my relief from allergies. I have now received the shot for five years in a row, and have two "dents" on either side of my lower back. Any advice on legal action?????

It wasn't any more painful than any other shot I have received in the past. The next day was a different story. It was very painful to sit down or to put any pressure on my right side. Then in Oct I noticed a very small indent.Just like someone else had posted, I just figured It was coming with age.Now in Feb 2008 it has progressively gotten larger is discolored and aches.I have been very worried that there is something seriously wrong with me so to find this site was a little comforting although I do not wish this upon anyone!!

I to have a huge dent in my right butt cheek. I would be interested in a class action suit. This is ridiculous! It has been about three months since I received the shot. Has anyone noticed their dents getting better with time?

I got the Kenalog shot in Oct. 07 for my allergies. The nurse gave me the shot in my arm, in my muscle none the less. I now have a large indention in my arm and my muscle is gone. I used to be able to lift 120lbs easily but now I am lucky if I can do 60 without my arm hurting really bad. When you push in on my arm where they gave me the shot you feel my bone. I'm scared that the rest of my muscle will deteriorate. Can someone please tell me what I can do to stop this. Its really scaring me cause I have a little girl that I can barely carry now. thank you.

I had a Kenalog shot march 07, and it seemed to work wonders. In September, my allergies came back with a vengeance, so I returned to the same doctor. I was given another shot, in the same spot on my buttocks. I started having my period every two weeks. Normally very skinny, I have gained about 10-15 pounds. I started to notice facial hair. I went to an OBGYN and was tested for PCOS. A weeks ago, my boyfriend noticed a large indentation in my buttocks, with some bruising at the site of the injections. One of our friends mentioned a similar side effect from allergy shots. After researching and reading all this... I believe both of these to be side effects from the shot. I was never warned of any side effects, only told it would be better than taking a pill every day. I am so terrified and so depressed about this, I wish I would have been warned. I am not sure what to do!

I have been receiving Kenalog injections in my deltoid for allergies from my m.d. each fall for the past 4 years with no incident. Six weeks ago, Nov. 19 2007 I went in for the same symptoms and received the same injection of Kenalog in my deltoid once again. This time it seemed to be unusually painful but I thought it was just poor placement of the needle and did not think much of it. Now after six weeks I have developed a depression/ indentation in my shoulder at the site of injection that has grown to the size of a golf ball and is lumpy and soft even when I flex the muscle. It also has discoloration with splotches on the skin. It still aches and is getting more painful. After visiting my doc. today he seems concerned and claims he has no idea what it is and is sending me to the labs for more testing. In the mean time this is very strange and costly. After finding this web page it makes me wonder how could he have no clue as to this side effect? I am a otherwise healthy 30 year old male, except now I have a very weird looking shoulder.

Not good news. The attorney who was handling my case against the clinic and the nurse called today to say that we'd have to drop the case for lack of evidence. Absolutely incredible! I had the shot about 2 years ago, and the indentation is still horrible looking and painful. It has filled in to a small degree, but is still discolored and very noticeable.
Because it was used for a purpose that is indicated in the drug literature (allergies), the shot was generally in the right area (gluteal) and we can't prove what needle was used or how deep it was injected, I'm screwed. Even though I was given 80mg...too bad!
I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but it looks like it'll be really tough to win this type of case. Bastards!

I had a shot of kenalog in my knee for a problem I have when I run long distances. I was told that it would have a 50% chance of helping but it could prevent surgeries. He never mentioned side effects. After the injection- my period came a week late and lasted three days longer than normal. Four days after it ended I got another period. This one was accompanied by severe headaches(I never get headaches) This period lasted another nine days. I went for my follow up and questioned the doctor about it and he said he must have forgotten to mention it but that it can cause some hormone irregularities but that it should go away within a month. I have been so exhuasted and barely able to function. It was five days since my last period and now I got another one today! I am furiouse because I was trying to get pregnant! Now I am freaking out because I am seeing on this sight how long this can really last!
After all of us have had these same problems you think we would be able to sue the company. What can we do becuase I'm on board if you all want to have a class action law suit. How do we start it?

If you are a woman or have a daughter PLEASE READ.......
Please be very careful before getting a Kenalog injection especially if you are a woman or for your daughter. In March my 13 year old daughter received one Kenalog injection for hay fever. Now almost 4 MONTHS later it is a 2 inch indentation with dark bruising all around it. She has also had her period the entire time with maybe a 1-2 day break between them. It has taken this long for the doctors to say the bleeding is from the Kenalog injection. I never would have allowed them to give this to her if I had known of these side effects. She has been put through test after test and no end in site. Now my 13 year old will have to go on birth control to stop the bleeding and there will prob. be side effects from that as well. I was shocked to find this site and now how many lives this drug is hurting. Now my daughter is suffering, all from 1 SHOT.

Kenalog shot over 1 month ago for allergies. That nite, I had severe muscle aches and headache. Then that went away. The allergies stopped almost immediately (which was great), but I began getting side effects. For about 2wks, I had excessive urination, almost every 30minutes. I also had rapid, pounding heartbeat for about 4wks. My period, which was due one week after the Kenalog shot came 2wks late- was normal. But then my next period came 2wks early, and I am still having it (for 10 days now). I am a person who is ALWAYS regular!! I also noticed anxiety/agitation during the first 4wks. I have also gained 10lbs, although I exercise, eat well.
I hate this drug.

I have suffered with the loss of taste and smell which would last for months. We found a site where a doctor said that he suffered from the same condition for months but when he fell ill and was given predison he regained his sence of taste and smell. He found that kenalog is safer and gives the same results. I was taking allergy shots every week and so no results. I asked my doctor about kenalog and after looking at the data she gave me the shot in my deltoid muscel. In less than 12 hours I was able to taste and smell and have so for three months. I just received another one today. I have not suffered from any allergies at all.

I also had a reaction to a kenalog injection in my upper right buttocks area. I have a HUGE discolored indention that has not gone away. It has been a YEAR!! I also had irregular periods for three months with ultrasounds, etc. to make sure I was alright. My doctor did not think to ask me if I had had a steroid shot lately. I sure didn't tell her because I had no clue it was a side effect. I had the shot for severe allergies and was not warned of the side effects either! I am very against having another shot, even though it cured my severe allergies last spring. I look deformed!!

This stuff is excellent for my sever allergies. Every year or so I have a terrible allergy attack. I get a shot of this and I'm good for over a month, by which time the allergy attack is over. God bless whomever invented this stuff.

Bruce, don't take the shot anymore, go to a E.N.T. allergy Dr. & start the shots for allergies. I think these weekkly shots last for a period of at least 4-5 years every week. Check with your primary care physician for a referral. I'm gonna do just that!! No more Kenalog shots, there's to many side effects that hurt you in the long run!!!!!!!

I took kenalog to help with my severe allergies. At the time I was trying to get pregnant and I was told that there would be no side effects. They were wrong!! I have a bright purple indent in my butt the size of a quarter that has been there over a year. That is not even what bothers me. Two months after getting the shot I got pregnant and while pregnant my allergies came back and my doctor said getting the shot while pregnant would be fine. Fortunantly I looked at this website first and read all of the bleeding problems and did not get it. And even still while giving birth I had a substatial amount of bleeding for no reason. The only thing that would have caused this was the first shot there was nothing else in my system except for a prenantal vitamin. I have never bleed like this before! I could not imagine what would have happened if I had got the second shot while pregnant. So in my opion I would think twice before getting it.

Three months after my second Kenalog shot for allergies a indent in my butt about the size of a quarter which is sometimes purple and sometimes pink showed up. It is sore like I just got the shot. I returned to the doctor and she knew what it was immediately. She said it would go away in 3 to 6 months, and it some people maybe several years. It is also possible that a slight indent would remain, but it should not get any larger. She said other shots can do the same???
Will see what happens. I won't ever get the shot again.

I have had numerous Kenalog shots for allergies over the years with no side affects. I got one in August 2006 in the left arm and in about 3 to 4 weeks I have started getting numbness and aching in my left arm all the way down to my fingers. I have aching in my shoulder joint and into my back between my shoulder blades. I have also lost about 15 pounds. This has never happened to me before ? Has anyone else ever experienced this ?

I am a 35 year old male and have had Kenalog shots for allergies for the past 11 years (usually only 1 per year). Within the past 3-4 years I have developed major pain in my right hip (generally where the injection is given). Several "other" doctors (sports medician) are saying the Kenalog shot could be causing degeneration of the Femerial head. After numerous MRI's / X-rays they are saying it is arthritis, I feel it is the Kenalog shot. The problem is that I can not deal with my sever allergies and have tried everything and Kenalog is the only thing that seems to stop the allergies for 6-12 months with one injection. Anyone else having this type of problem? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I've been taking kenalog injections for several years for my allergies. I had back surgery about 15 months ago. A ruptured disc pressing into my spinal cord causing severe numbness from stomach to toes as soon as I sat down. The numbness is gone but I still have severe lower back pain. Could this be from the kenalog?

Had the shot on Monday the 19the of October for allergies, went on brisk walk on Tues evening had tightening of chest numbing of face then extreme pains in abdomen area that ended up sending me to the ER. All tests came back negative followed up with both family practice and OB and no one can come up with reasons for pain and discomfort am beginning to think that it was all related to Kenalog shot.
