Kenalog and class action suit

Wow, reading this is very scary. I also had a steroid injection about 4 months ago. It is in my lower back/upper buttocks. Now I have an indentation the size of a quarter and pain when I sit down for any period of time. I was searching for what it could be and found this site. My heart just sank. I called my doctor to see what he injected and sure enough, Kenalog. I am so upset about this and feel too uncomfortable to even wear a swimsuit or go to the beach anymore. I am very thin so this huge hole in my butt is very noticeable and people notice it all the time. It looks terrible, and from what I am reading it can get worse! I would love to be part of a class action suit against them, if anyone has any information please contact me with it.

I'm so glad I found this website - thanks to all of you who have shared. I had a Kenalog injection in May 09 and about a couple of months ago noticed an indentation in the side of my leg. I had it given in my leg instead of buttocks due to other health issues currently going on. It is sore sometimes and hurts sometimes when I bend down or exercise. I also had abnormal periods for several months and didn't realize that it was related to the injection. I had a sinus infection/ear infection and had to get on a plane to go out of the country the next day, otherwise I would have never done this. No one mentioned (or I think knew) anything about the possible muscle/skin side effects. Does anyone know about a class action suit regarding this? I've already made a report with the FDA. I am working with a dr that is doing soft tissue work on it weekly, this does seem to be helping, the indentation decreases quite a bit, but it the indentation increases if I don't have the soft tissue work. I'm hoping I won't have to have plastic surgery to fix this, but looks like I will looking at all the other postings. Does anyone know of a class action law suit regarding this? I tried the person listed in Delaware's e-mail listed on the posting, but it wouldn't go thru.

I had the shot administered in my butt On November 2008. I now have a huge indent, on my butt, t is also discolored. This is ridiculous, we need to file a Class Action Suit, and have this shot off the market.

I too received a Kenalog shot for poison ivy in my buttocks. The nurse informed me it may cause a little indent for a few weeks since I am thin, but will go away. I never asked anymore questions b/c I was so desperate to get rid of the poison ivy and she made it seem like it was nothing.

Well it's been 9 months and I have a HUGE indent where the kenalog was injected! AND it's gotten bigger and deeper with time. Luckily it is under my bathing suit bottom and most of my panties. But it's sore to the touch and sensitive.

After reading posts on this, I sent a complaint to the FDA. Has anyone who did this heard back from them? If there is a class action suit, I am in. It's amazing all the blogs I've found on the Internet with people in our same situation. It's about time something was done!!!

I would have NEVER got the injection if I knew this was going to happen!

I have contacted an attorney in Delaware who is willing to pursue a possible class action suit. I explained my side effects from this drug and told him of the countless others that are suffering as well. He said if I was willing to do the "legwork" and gather up names of others who would like to join this suit, perhaps we could get a class action started. I am so thankful I can end my search for what has been wrong with me. I have an indention in my right butt and now my hip and lower back are hurting and aching all the time! I have asked my ob and primary care doctor and everyone has been at a loss not knowing who to refer me on to. I can now put an end to that search but now am curious if anyone has filed a class action suit? I would like to be a part of it. I am a runner and now can not continue due to my lower back hip pain. I was never warned or told any side effects of this medication!! I am curious if this continues to get worse or if it will heal itself eventually. It has been a year ago since I was given the shot and nothing has changed! Is the drug in my system for this long to continue to worsen!?? Who can we talk to for justice!>??

I got a shot in early January for a severe tonsillitis infection. I was so sick at the time, that I consented to the shot because I thought it would relieve the swelling. The doctor never mentioned any side effects. Unfortunately, the shot did not help at all. Even worse, I noticed a few months after I received the shot, that I had developed a dark indentation at the site of the shot, on my butt cheek. Since then, I have noticed that the dent has gotten bigger and uglier. I'm very upset about it. I went to a dermatologist/cosmetic surgeon, and she advised that I do nothing. She said it would fill in with time - 6 months to a year. We will see.....it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

The worst and most distressing side effect, is this month I had two periods, two weeks apart. I've never been on birth control, and my periods have always been very regular. I had been reading about this side effect a few months ago, and was relieved that at least my periods had not been affected.....well, I was wrong. 4 months after the shot, I've been affected. I had noticed in the past several months, that my periods had gotten shorter, lasting only 2-3 days as opposed to 3-5. They have also gotten lighter, except this most recent irregular period which was a bit heavier.

Along with the dent and irregular periods, I've been experiencing back aches, extreme fatigue and some nauseau - all symptoms which I've never experienced before. I'm a runner and in pretty decent shape and good health. Now I feel like my body has deteriorated due to one small but devastating shot!

I'm very upset and distressed about these side effects. I'm afraid of what other side effects I might not know about yet.

I contacted a lawyer that I found on this website, who is helping a client with these symptoms. I want to join a class action suit. This is unacceptable!

I had two shots of Kenalog 80mg. three months apart for a sinus infection.Both shots were in the upper left buttocks,lower back.I have a huge disfiguring crater where the shots were given.I have noticed it has worsened over time,and wonder if its still growing.I received the first one 2/18/07.I want my tissue back, and cosmetic surgery will cost $4000.00.I'm a young mother living pay day to pay day.I prey that someone will start a class action suit so I/we are able to feel comfortable in my/our skin again.

I to have a huge dent in my right butt cheek. I would be interested in a class action suit. This is ridiculous! It has been about three months since I received the shot. Has anyone noticed their dents getting better with time?

I have recently discovered that I too have had a major side effect from this drug. I only received one injection 5 months ago in the buttocks for an allergic reaction I was having and now I have a huge indention like crater in the area that looks like the tissue has been eaten away. I did not even know it was from that since it has been a while and only one shot. After finding this website and talking to my doctor's office. They did confirm that the shot given was Kenalog and in that spot which I was certain of after reading so many others who have this side effect as well.
I am very interested in joining a class action lawsuit. People need to be warned of these major effects. I would have NEVER allowed the injection to be given had I been warned.

I had one series of Kenalog shots in lower back facet joints. Dr. did not inform me of which drug he was using prior or that it was not recommended for anyone over 65. Pain increased in lower back, and for two years I have had burning pain in proximal muscles (deltoid, shoulder and thighs). It is worse in morning but always there, This is a very nasty drug. If anyone knows of a class action suit, please post it here. Thanks.

I had a kenalog shot in May of 2007 for a rash I had on my chest. I asked the Doctor several times if there would be a side effect. His answer was no. His person (I don't believe she was a nurse) gave me the shot. I felt like I was having a heart attack that night. I got my period twice in June and July. I have had pain in my calves and have gained about 5 pounds. I also have a dent in my left bum cheek that is getting bigger and a bruise. Since it is now September and I have been pms for 3 weeks I decided to look online for side effects of Kenalog. I am pissed! It is September and I just called my Dr. He claimed that Kenalog leaves your system within seven days. He want to send me to and endocrinologist. Why? So they can tell me it's Kenalog? Yeah I know! I want to sue the people who have put out this drug without listing the real possible side effects. I have malasma on my face from the hormonal imbalance. I have paid to see a hormonal specialist and have a vaginal ultrasound, because I couldn't figure out why my hormones are so out of whack. There are enough of us, we should get together and file a class action suit before this happens to anyone else!

This is a horrific story but must be read for those who may want to EVER use this drug. I am a 26 year old female who has had some fatigue/headache problems for the past two years. In an attempt to alleviate some of the symptoms associated with the headaches (burning, tingling, hairloss). So, the doctor administered seven small injections of 3-1 dilluted Kenalog into the top of my scalp. After two weeks I started to notice small indentations at the injection sites. After a month I started to feel painful sore spots all over my head; they were actually raw and bright red. It felt as though someone had placed a hot curling iron on my scalp and left it there! I notified my Dr. who said there were no known side effects with dilluted measures and it couldn't be the cause of it?? So, I waited a few more weeks only to notice that the seven injection sites were now large bald spots where the hair completely stopped growing and then just fell out. There are now VERY deep crater-like formations in my scalp that are tender to the touch that are getting worse and may never go away. The injection actually ate away at the skull! This has been a horrific experience and all my doctor can say is, "Sorry." One thing I want to post is this...yes, this is hugely unfortunate and we are all dealing with some major symptoms here but we are not alone. You know what they say about "power in numbers" so there may be a class-action suit on the way...this is not acceptable so don't let your doctor tell you it is nothing!

May want to consider contacting Daniel Levinson, Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, because he oversees FDA, CDC, and NIH. FDA approved the drug Kenalog, so not sure if there will be a problem filing a class action suit against Bristol-Meyers, but still may be able to sue. Definitely check into individual suits against the doctors because they should be liable for not informing patients of the serious side effects of this and any drug before writing prescriptions or (especially) administering drugs in their offices. I don't think most people ask about or research side effects--we put too much trust and faith in the medical establishment.

My goodness...after reading some more of these postings it is truly sad that this drug is still being used!!! How does one start a class action suit???
