I agree with everyones comments on here. I have had all of the side effects associated with Kenelog except for the tissue deterioration in the buttocks. However I have found I new side effect that I can only contribute to Kenelog. I am a father or a wonderful little girl who is now 7. I have stayed active my entire life and at 31 I have never been on any other medications other then kenolog for the last 7 years. My wife and I have been trying to have a baby for over two years and have been unable to. After going to the fertility specialist I have found out that I know suffer from azoospermia, which is basically that I do not have any sperm what so ever being created. I will keep you updated as I get more testing done, but I may never be able to conceive a child again because of Kenalog.

I had a Kenolog injection in Nov. 2006, for pneumonia. I got better and thought all was fine. After a 2 months i noticed a strange indention on my upper left buttcheek. at that time it was about the size of a quarter. Also at that time, never having heard of any side effects i was stressing Big Time about why I had this "hole" in my cheek. After going to a different doctor and having a sonogram and a bunch of people looking at my behind with No answers. I finally found a Kenolg complaint web site after google-ing indentation in buttcheek. I was shocked as i finally put 2 & 2 together! Now It's Sept. 2007 I still not only have a "hole" in my cheek, it has gotten much bigger, about the size of my fist!!! It's hideous! It also aches. I use to run now that hurts my glute. The doctor has been no help. I keep hoping it gets better, but so far only worse. Does it get better and heal up?? Is anyone currently involved in any lawsuits regarding this situation?
any info would be much appreciated.

I had a lumbar injection of Kenelog in April of 2005. Within a week of having the shot I was in the ER with chest pain and numbness in my left arm. I never thought that it may have been the injections. I was absolutely pain free in my back after the injections so I was happy as a lark considering I was cripled for a year before them. 13 months later (June 2006) the old back started to act up so I went in for another shot. Within 2 days I had bad heartburn and hot spots on both of my arms that were red and hot to touch. Still oblivious to the effects being from the shot-I went in for a second set of shots 4 weeks later (July 2006). Now 2 days later I am experiencing severe chest pain for 2 days.

I had kenelog shots for sinus infection related to asthma for a period of about 10 yrs-3 to 4 times per year. It worked almost instantly and the only side effect I noticed was an increase in appetite. I gained about 15 lbs in this time. The benefits far outweighed the drawbacks to me.

My 52 year old wife had a painful capsulitis in one arm that just did not get better. In the absence of her regular doctor, we went to a walk-in clinic for help for the unrelenting pain. She was given two injections of Kenelog withing 14 days of each other. The pain in the arm started to recede but a few days after the second shot, we had to admit her into a hospital emergency department for severe heart palpitations, extreme weakness in her legs, tingling and numbness in her hands and fainting. She was stabilized over six hours, blood tests were done and an electrocardiogram was done. She was negative in all the tests. It is now almost eight weeks later and she continues to experience palpitations irregularly and continuing fatigue that forces her to lie down at work and curtails her usual activities. None of this had ever happened to her before the second Kenelog shot. Her doctor has now had her screened for liver and kidney inflamation and she will have an echocardiogram in ten days. She has also seen a hematologist for interpretation of the blood tests. She is anxious and depressed by all this and feels frightened about the severe fatigue that keeps on hitting her. She'll never let herself have another Kenelog shot as long as she lives!!!

I recieved a kenelog shot from my local urgent care office for an chest cold. Four days after the shot i was rushed to the hospital for severe adominal pain..throwing up..severe weakness...only to be released with gastointestianl distress. I then started having nights sweats, mood swings, sore throats, infected hair follicles, skin lessions. Then i noticed the indentation and skin discloration where i had recieved the shot. I started putting all the information together and after reading all the stories on this web site have concluded that KENOLOG IS VERY DANGEROUS!! I was givng NO prior warning for this shot and given it by a front staff nurse. I'm si upset about this...if anyone can help please contact me!

I had a serious swelling and redness around my eyes 3 weeks ago. My first visit to the doctor, he gave me 60 mg kenalog. The next day I was worse, He drew blood & gave me Zyrtec. The third day it was worse, and I was having problems swallowing, my husband took me to a different doctor, I told him about the first injection, He said it may not have been enough and gave me another 60 mg kenalog, and Allegra. Finally, the swelling stopped and started to recede. A week later the symtoms, started again, however, I was not near medical help. I started downing benedryl. I still have discoloration around my eyes, and have developed cataracts, which I did not have weeks before, (I had an eye exam shortly before this, and had to go back due to seeing problems) However, the doctors did say if the injection was not into the muscle, and was injected into the fat, it could cause deteriorization of the fat and a divit in the area injected. I don't have that problem. I asked the md about the kenelog about causing cataracts, and was told it was a condition that should clear up in a couple of weeks. I'll keep you posted if is disapates.

A little indentation on my buttocks is well worth the relief of this insatiable urge to dig my eyes out of their sockets. I've been taking Kenelog at 80mg once a year for 35 years. There is an indentation, which is more like a small cute dimple. My eyes don't itch, my nose doesn't run and I can actually be outside every day with no side effects. This is a priceless medication for which there is no known substitute.

My daughter had an injection of Kenelog for a rash that covered most of the right side of her body. At the time she was only 19 months old. A few weeks after the injection, I noticed a bluish color spot near her right hip area whe the injection was given. I first thought it was a bruise. It has been 7 months since the injection and the area has an indention, and has grown in size. It is now about 2" in diameter and continues to grow and is bluish in color. Like most, I was not told of any possible side effects. I am left to only imagine what her long term side effects will be. Will it continue to grow? Will it cause her pain? How can this medicine still be in use if these are the known side effects? How many others will have this injection without knowing the side effect? I guess I am angry because as a mother, it is my responsibility to take care of my daughter and now she has this area that I don't know if it will get better all because I was not told the possible side effects. If I had known, she would not have had the injection.

I've had severe-debilitating allergies for thirty-four years. About 15 years ago I started taking kenelog shots 2-3 times per year. (Once I had the discolored indentation in my hip as described by the postings here. It took a long time (year+) but it did finally go away. )
My concern now is that I've been diagnosed with degenerative spine disease, it's similar to arthritis-- basically my vertebrae are deteriorating. When I received my CAT scan at a military hospital they asked me if I had been jumping out of planes... I have no family history for this problem, nor have I ever been in any kind of accident that could lead to this. A long time ago I remember someone telling me that she had to have a hip replacement at an early age and she thought it was linked to kenelog use. Any other long time users have bone deterioration problems?

I have been getting a Kenelog shot for 19 months by a nurse practioner. I had ear aches for 7 years and Doctors could not clear them. I moved, and by accident, met a nurse practioner. Without any testing, she said my problem was allergies, and the Kenelog shot would stop the ear pain with little side affects. She also warned me that I would get a small dimple on my rear, but not to worry. This would go away in a year. Well, it has been longer than a year, and the dents in both sides of my rear are so deep you could put a large mans hand in them. I can no longer wear tight dress pants, because the dents are too noticable. I am extememly uncomforatbe anytime someone puts there arm around me near the dents, because they feel so ugly. I have also lost 30 pounds since I had this shot. I don't know how i am going to live with the ear aches, but think i should stop the shots ??? I would also get large bruises all over my legs that would itch terribly. Please help me with some advice, and the long-term effects of this shot.
Thank you sincerely,
Sharon

I have diagnosed osteoarthritis, two joint replacements, looking at a third, and my knee hurt at time. Bad fall over a year ago led eventually to spine surgery with fushion of several vertebrae. Before fall I had some back pain and have had the shoulder pain for years(and now requires partical reaplacement). I was very active and relatively athletic doing agility with my dog. After fall and sugery for pinched nerves, I have never felt normal. Too much pain all over, fingers still numb, don't feel safe running with my dog. I suffered muscle degeneration due to the pinched nerves. Finally after numerous expensive test etc, rheumatologist suggested kenalog shot if I didn't feel better soon. Also tentative diagnosis of gout but my stomache could not handle pills for gout. So I got a shot of kenelog. - Super! I felt "normal" for the first time in over a year, didn't feel weak in knees, felt I could walk faster and further. Positive side effect was clearing my sinuus' and clearing up cough from phlem from sinus area. Got shot about 5 weeks ago and it has gradualy faded. I do not feel as painedl, but my activity level has decreased. I want another shot.

I find all the above symptoms/side effects strange.
I have keloids all over my body caused by ingrowing hairs and injuries. My doctor adviced me not to go for surgery as I had 90% chance of the keloids getting bigger. He suggested I tried kenelog injections and cordran tapes and they have worked like a miracle. The keloid behind my ears caused by ear piercing have flattened completely. The only side effects I have noticed are that my menstral cycle goes crazy (which is normal for someone taking steriods), I have increased pimples and the areas injected get slightly thinner and change colour. Asides from this, I believe that the results far outway the sideeffects which a somewhat reversible.
Only problem is that kenalog is a prescription drug and cost me too much to get since I am only a visitor in the UK.

I had severe allergies from hayfever for years, I tried everything from antihistermenes, herbal remedies, ocular steriods and every hayfever product on the market - to no real noticeable effect. Then my doctor advised a single shot of kenelog once a year (this was all she would allow for any patient) - IT WORKED. It was as if there was no such thing as hayfever. The only side-effect was a small dimple on my bum, so if you weigh up a small dimple on bum vs months of misery and lack of concentration etc... that is inothing. A friend of mine is a cellular geneticist at the oxford cellular research hospital and advise that steriods are harmful to your cells, but the frequency and volume I intake should not cause a problem as long as I don't keep taking it year after year (and always depends on your cellular make-up). If you have bad hayfever like myself, you need to retrain your cells to recognise that pollen is in fact a friend not foe. Inducing yoursef full of the local honey, and many herbal products taken CONSISTENTLY for over a year are said to to provide this retraining programme your body needs. I've just started this programme, but I will take another shot of kenelog to get me through this year.

I received a kenelog injection for severe allegeries last week. After years of different sinus/allergy medications, I was referred to an ENT for care. Within 5 min, of the office visit the dr. numbed my nose and injected each nostril with kenalog. He did not warn me of the side effects. I now have insomnia, dry mouth, frequent urination, and a "larythargic like" feeling that has not gone away. But my allergies are better that they have been in years. I wish I would have done some research before the injections. Not sure if I will try this again.

I received an injection of kenalog I.M. on my right bronchial and after a month noticed bruising and dimpling. The dimpling became deeper as the year went by and finally after almost two years it is starting to fill in but the discoloration is still present.
