I went to see my PCP in March 25th 2008 because my allergy. My pcp told me she'll give one injection since it's allergy season and it would make me fell better. She didn't tell me what kind of injection it was and I trust her.
The next day I was having panic attacks while I was outside on the street.
I couldn't breath because my heart was beating so fast, and I felt "pacey" all day. I just went home hoping the symptoms go away but it only got worse. I couldn't even walk because I was out of balance, my vision got blur and I had massive headache. I assume it was happening because the injection so I called my PCP, but she told me she didn't do anything different. My PCP had a day off so I went to the ER that afternoon. I had cat scan done in case I had stroke but my cat scan was clear. The ER dr think it's side effect from the shot.
I called my pcp 2 days later after my visitation to the ER but she never returned my call. Somehow, I couldn't trust my pcp I didn't go back to her.
I was hoping the injection fades away and try to manage my body. I start notice I had anxiety and couldn't sleep at night. I had pretty regular period but I had very irregular period following month and that drove me crazy because I had 2 full periods within a month and I had blood spots. I barely had period following month. I notice that I gain so much weight. I always watch what I eat so I never get out of control with my weight but I couldn't fit into my jeans I used wear. I also notice that I get back pain the side I had shot if I seat for long hours which I never had before. Now my legs are swelling ,numb and have tingling sensation. I was really concern so I call my pcp today to find out what kind of steroid she injected me. The medical assistant told me that doctor can't not give the name and he was giving me ridiculous excuses to not to give me the name of the injection . I was so upset and didn't make sense to me. I asked for the dr. and asked my pcp the name of the shot. It was "Kenalog". I googled the name and I found this site. I am really scare and I am upset at my pcp that she never mention what the injection was and never discuss the side effects with me. If I knew about the side effects back then I would never let her give me the shot.
I never signed anything with my pcp. My pcp promise to call me back today. I even left her a message again to call me but haven't heard from her yet.
I believe FDA is responsible for this steroid but doctors are holding great responsible also!
How long dose it takes to get back to normal? I would greatly appreciate for any information!
Dose anyone knows powerful lawyer?

I am also a victim of having the Kenalog injection administered over 8 months ago to alleviate poison ivy itching symptoms. Prior to having the injection, I was not informed of any side effects. Not only did the injection not alleviate the symptoms, but has resulted in a discolored and uncomfortable indentation in my left buttock area and psychological anguish because of disfigurement of my body. It is 8 months later and the indent appears to continue to deepen and lengthen. The dermatologist who administered the injection stated that there was nothing I could do to reverse such effects. I reported my case to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) Med Watch. I urge others to report their adverse event to the FDA--just click on this link and complete the form: http://www.fda.gov/medwatch/. The FDA is responsible for assuring safety of medications. Therefore, it is imperative that the FDA recognize the adverse effects to provide any credibility to a class action suit. Please consider forwarding your case to the FDA to force them into action and begin addressing these atrocities. Such documented cases and recognition by the FDA will provide leverage for attorneys in pursuit of a class action suit.

I am glad I found this site before I got rid of my puppy. I had the Kenalog shot also back in mid summer of 07. I had a bad case of poison ivy at the time and the shot got rid it. For a month or so I was rash free then I started itching on my head, back and sides. I hate to even brush my hair because it is coming out (thank God I have thick hair). My back still itches and the rash is mainly around my elbows and lower part of my legs. But I will not be wearing shorts this summer unless I can get rid of it. It really looks bad and the itch is almost unbearable sometimes. I have tried several creams and nothing works now I know why. Anyway I thought my puppy was the cause of this until now. I had other side effects but this rash is the worse one and I hope the last.

I had to get a kenalog shot when I moved to another part of the state I live in because I was having trouble breathing. This was 12 years ago when I was 19. My breathing problem cleared up immediately and I didn't have any symptoms? Two years ago I developed some sort allergie that created blisters all over my legs from right above my knees down, they itched like crazy and the scratching I was doing was causing infection. I had to go on bactribin for 4 wks. The blisters came back almost immediately so my physician gave me a shot of kenalog and the ichting and blisters went away with in days. I did gain some weight and there were some cramps in my legs but the benefits (for me) far out-weight the problems before I took the shot.

I just returned from seeing a hematologist for bruising and bleeding under and through the skin of my forearms. Luckily, it is not a bleeding problem, but a dermatological condition known as "cutaneous atrophy". I read on this website that is a side effect of the kenalog injections.
I've been getting the injections in both my knees for the past year (shots every four months). The injections help the pain in my knees, but I think I will just take darvocet for the pain and tell my rheumotologist that I do not want any more of these injections. I've also experienced the excessive sweating around my neck and upper back, not knowing why. Scary side effects.

I got a shot of Kenalog in my back last December and then again in January. Then in February my face, nec, and legs starting swelling up. The doctors could not figure out what was wrong with me. I had blood work done and found out that I was going through a adrenal insuffiecency and had cushings disease and hormonal problems. They did a cat scan and found a sist on my pituaitary gland. I was sent to a endroconoligist who told me it was all from the Kenalog injection. It took close to a year to go away. Well guess what I was just giving another Kenalog injection even though I told the doctor I couldnt have one. And now my face is starting to swell again. I am soo mad I called the doctor and wouldn't you know it he is on vacation for a week. I have been getting bad headaches also which are probably from that darn shot.

Last resort, sent to new pain clinic where for chronic sever low back and leg pain began rec'ing epidural steriod injections. Results were good, but side effects of severe, ex-cruiating charley horse cramps to feet and calves of both legs I felt like cutting them off. Brought it up to doc and he say oh yeah, and prescribed quinine which is helping. But its another pill to take! Its awful to feel like your feet bones are crossing over each other and calf cramps that are so tight your legs feel like splitting open. The pain and soreness lingers for a week or more. Never has steriods of other kinds affected me like this. Its the first time rec'ing kenalog.

I got a Kenalog shot in May 2006 at first I only had a dicoloration at injection sight and it didn't really concern me.I had a terrible period that lasted for 11 days and had another terrible period 2 weeks later that lasted for over a week and have recently started again.I also experienced severe muscle aches for a week but I thought it was from working out although that had never happened before,I could barely walk I ached so bad in my legs.now i have a disgusting dent in my hip that keeps getting worse.I go to the gym almost everday and bust butt to get my body in shape and it was disfigured in a single shot.I was never warned of any side effects and trusted my doctor.I returned to his office today and he did not seemed suprised about the atrophy and told me he would consult a dermatologist friend about how to repair the damage because the tissue will not regenerate itsef. This is a terrible side effect and people should have a right to be informed.I would have never gotten a kenalog shot had I known what it could do to my body.

After receiving two kenalog injections in my hip on seperate ocassions, my psoriasis increased ten fold. At first it was like a miracle, no psoriasis. A few months after my second injection, I noticed new areas of psoriasis popping up. For over 30 years I had psoriasis on my elbows and knees, after the kenalog shots I have them on my arms, legs, and head. The worst thing about this is I have no pigmentation in these areas, I probably have 50 or so white spots that range in sizes. My self-esteem has dwindled terribbly because of this. I wont wear shorts or short sleeve shirts because of people staring at me. I went to another dermatologist for a second opinion and she said it looked like my psoriasis rebounded after the shots. If anyone could help I would be so grateful.

August 30th this year I received a 40mg injection of Kenalog from my dermatologist, also Triamcinolone Acetonide cream usp 0.1% & Betamethasone Valeraate Cream USP 0.1% to be used on my skin for a terrible rash. Used the cream as prescribed, I also was in severe pain from (nerve cell damage?) in my legs, (no I'm not diabetic) which my primary Dr an internist had diagnosed from blood work? and he had been giving me the Kenalog injections about every three or four months and the last two had not helped the leg pain....trying to make this short-----the amazing side effect, if it was caused by all the steroids was, I had been horribly bloated which we had surmised was from the Kenalog, in a week I had lost 18 pounds of fluid, my legs were back to normal size for the first time in I don't know how long. My sister is an RN and we were baffled. I asked my dermatologist, I've seen a neurologist since then, and they had no clue??? Have you ever heard of this happening???

BE AFRAID--BE VERY AFRAID!
Had 3 20mg shots of Kenalog in each hip for bursitis pain on March 7th. Went back to doctor two weeks later for follow up. Bursitis pain was gone! So....he asked me to trust him and gave me two more (20mg) shots in each buttock for fibrmyalgia, even tho I reported weakness in my thighs. Had had a succession of problems since then. Legs so weak that I was unable to get up from toilet and chairs without pushing off with my hands, difficulty going up curbs, 3 upper resiratory infections in 4 weeks, extreme fatigue, depression, moon face, hair on face, thinning skin which bruises very easily, vertigo, diarreah, ankles that are grossly swollen. It's almost 5 months now, and there is some improvement in the strength in my legs; however my legs feel like Gumby legs, I bump into walls, still feel week, anke still swollen, still feel fatigue. I can walk, but find it difficult to stand for more than 2-3 minutes. Fortunately I found a doctor who practices integrative medicine and he immediately put me on adrenal support, which helped with the fatigue. I always know if I need to increase the dosage, because I cry easily (not a natural state for me) and jump at every sudden noise.
Like most of you, my doctor gave me no warning on the side effects of Kenalog. Needless to say, I've changed doctors.
I'm seeing a neurologist next week, and I hope he will be of help! It would be nice to know how long this stuff takes to get out of my system.
I sympathize with you all and wish you well.

I am a 34-year-old, white female, who received a Kenalog shot over a year ago. Since that time, I have noticed a casual indenting and now it is about the size of a 50 cent piece with no fat, kind of white appearing in the middle with a dark circle that looks bruised going around it. I have been to about six doctors not knowing for sure what it was from. The biopsy showed steroid atrophy and anetoderma. I was told that there was nothing that could be done for treating this. It is now getting very painful like it is in my muscle with like a tingling sensation like worms in my legs. I am not sure what to do. I was told to give it another month and see how much more it grows. The derm did suggest may be filling it in with fat but was not sure if it would last or not. If anyone can help or have any ideas, please e-mail me. ******

Unfortunately I found this website years too late but maybe my entry will help someone else and prevent them from the misery and altered life that I now have.
I am 38 years old and I have had excema since I was a small child. When I was in my early 20's my Doctor prescribed for me what I thought was a miricle drug. I live in Atlanta and in the hot and humid months I couldn't stay outside in the heat or I would develop a severe rash from the excema on the insides of my legs. Once I started using the medication the doctor prescribed my rash would disapear. It was actually regular lotion that had Triamcinolone AKA kENALOG injected into the bottle. I would use it each time I got out of the shower while I was still wet per my doctors instructions which just made it get into my skin even more. The bottle had no warning label and needless to say over a short period of time I begin to develop stretch marks on the insides of my upper thighs. I was newly married and very embarrased and had no clue that it was caused by the lotion that I was prescribed. I hid it for a while thinking that I was just getting overweight and that was causing the marks but the damage was already done. In a short period of time the marks were down to my knee and spreading to the inside of my calfs. The stretch marks are 3/4 of an inch wide and some of them are 9 and 10 inches long and dark purple. I went to doctor after doctor and had test after test just not my dermatoligist tryiing to find out what was wrong with me and when I realized that it was the lotion I was just horrified. I went into a shell and had a very difficult time dealing with it. I couldn't talk about it or show anyone my legs. I thought I was a FREAK. Needless to say I waited too long to pursue a medical malpractice against the doctor but it has altered my life greatly. I don't go out in public in shorts or even a skirt. I can't go to the beach or anywhere in public in a bathing suit because I am so self consious about my legs. I have a wonderful husband and fortunately he loves me for me and not my looks but I can't tell you that it has not altered his life as well. My children don't understand why their mom doesn't wear shorts and things like other moms.
This drug has altered and changed my life in almost every aspect pysically and emotionally and I will never be the same but hopefully my story will prevent someone else from having to deal with all the pain and misery that I have had. I was told I was past the statue of limitations in Georgia to pursue anything legally so hopefully I can help you on a personal leval before this happens to you. DON'T USE KENALOG OR ANY TOPICAL FORM OF IT!! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or if I can help you in anyway.

I received kenalog for planters faciaitis...one shot in each foot. I also received an injection in the buttocks over a year ago...for edema of the legs. Each injection served its purpose, but both times I have experienced vivid dreaming, strong emotional swings (anxiety to what I would call depression), and headaches due to tension in my neck (related to anxiety??). I will not take another shot unless it is absolutely necessary...I hate feeling like it makes me feel. I cannot wait for the medicine to pass through its active existence in my body. I asked a nurse and doctor about such reactions to Kenalog and they confirmed that it is very possible for people to experience such side effects.

This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Kenalog. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Kenalog, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways. I have had my kenalog shot last April '08 for allergy relief. After a few months, I have noticed an indention and discoloration where the needle was injected; it is an ugly sight. After reading this article, I could assume that my menstrual irregularity, my period would come twice a month, was also another side affect of Kenalog.
-- By summer69 | Reply | (1) replies | Send Private MailJust like a lot of you, I would be interested in a class action against Kenalog, pls contact me.
