I am a 52 year old post menopausal woman who received epidural Kenalog injections for arthritis in my neck (each one month apart). I didn't notice any symptoms with the first injection. About 2 weeks after the 2nd injection, I began spotting, and then bleeding for a few days. Prior to this, I had not menstruated for 18 months. I also noticed minor puffing in my face. The day of the 3rd injection, I had vaginal bleeding again, but it stopped. My blood pressure has increased, my skin appears to be thinning and I now have moon face. Does anyone know how long the facial puffiness lasts?

58-year-old female who received five 40 mg. Kenalog shots within a two-month period. I now have full blown Cushings Syndrome and my adrenal gland (I only have one kidney) has stopped functioning. Moon face, barrel belly, weak muscles in hips and legs, weakness, hump on my neck, hairy face. Does anyone know of an attorney in Central California that can help me. This doctor needs to be stopped before he harms anyone else!

I'm a 36 y/o female battling the side effects from Kenalog. I developed Cushing Syndrom (moon face, hump on back, easily brusing). I had my 1st shot in Dec 05 and 2nd Jan 06. I bleed heavily for three months straght. I still have the moon face and this horrible hump on my back. I ended up having to get a hysorectomy. I plan on getting a lawyer, but the Doctors I spoke with never heard of these effects with a shot. The more support I have the better chance I have. I'm constantly depressed looking this fat. Plus I gain 20 lbs in 1 month. This drug sux and I would never recomend it to anyone.

BE AFRAID--BE VERY AFRAID!

Had 3 20mg shots of Kenalog in each hip for bursitis pain on March 7th. Went back to doctor two weeks later for follow up. Bursitis pain was gone! So....he asked me to trust him and gave me two more (20mg) shots in each buttock for fibrmyalgia, even tho I reported weakness in my thighs. Had had a succession of problems since then. Legs so weak that I was unable to get up from toilet and chairs without pushing off with my hands, difficulty going up curbs, 3 upper resiratory infections in 4 weeks, extreme fatigue, depression, moon face, hair on face, thinning skin which bruises very easily, vertigo, diarreah, ankles that are grossly swollen. It's almost 5 months now, and there is some improvement in the strength in my legs; however my legs feel like Gumby legs, I bump into walls, still feel week, anke still swollen, still feel fatigue. I can walk, but find it difficult to stand for more than 2-3 minutes. Fortunately I found a doctor who practices integrative medicine and he immediately put me on adrenal support, which helped with the fatigue. I always know if I need to increase the dosage, because I cry easily (not a natural state for me) and jump at every sudden noise.
Like most of you, my doctor gave me no warning on the side effects of Kenalog. Needless to say, I've changed doctors.
I'm seeing a neurologist next week, and I hope he will be of help! It would be nice to know how long this stuff takes to get out of my system.

I sympathize with you all and wish you well.

Kenalog 40% 2cc in shoulder. Depressed pituitary/adrenal function- cortisol levels went to nonexistent. ACTH levels non-existent. Neither adrenal nor pituitary funtioning- had to take small dose of prednisone (2 mg) for ten days to keep from going into adrenal crisis- never felt so exhausted, so weak in my life- and I have fibromyalgia. Moon face, FACIAL HAIR on the sides of my face (and loss of hair on scalp, under arms, legs)- and I am a very fair Caucasian FEMALE- will this hair GO AWAY- one endocrinologist says yes- in 1.5 years, another says no, the dermatologist has never heard of it, and the orthopedic surgeon who administered the shot into shoulder says he has never seen this reaction. MD'S ARE PATHETIC- 35% OF MEDICAL DIAGNOSES ARE INCORRECT.
Yes- it relieved the pain in my shoulder- torn labrum- temporarily, and it cleared up my facial eczema- temporarily- but at what COST. I have been an invalid for the three months since the injection, although my cortisol levels are starting to rise again. Also- had ALLERGIC reaction at time of injection- about two minutes after the shot, I had problems focusing my eyes, was nauseated, disoriented, had diarrhea- was told this was an ANXIETY reaction- even though I went to the ER later, they also told me "everything was fine."
ANY EXPERIENCE WITH FACIAL HAIR- is it reversible with time? In despair....

I just finished three epidural injections for pain & numbness due to herniated & bulging cervical discs. Kenalog was injected.
I have felt just terrible since mid-week of the first injection ! I have had severe fluid retention. In addition to the retention I also get up 4-5 times per night to urinate with no change in the fluid retention! My abdomen and stomach are distended and very uncomfortable especially after meals. I now have an uncontrollable appetite & eat incessantly. I feel huge! My thirst has increased. I have night sweats. My breasts have been very sore. I am irritable, fatigued, bloated. I have moon face! My neck pain is now constant at the base of my skull with intense pressure, especially when I lie down. Obviously, I do not sleep well. My legs, ankles & fingers are especially swollen.
I wish I had never had the injections of Kenalog. Compared to the side effects I am experiencing from Kenalog, I would have lived with the discomfort and numbness!
What is the time this takes to get out of my system & I can expect to get back to normal?

the more i read.. the more depressed i get over the use of kenalog. Although it does help take out some of the mystery. I had a kenalog shot just a few weeks ago-- my second one this year. I have developed a big dent in my upper right hip... it's discolored and it hurts extremely bad. My vision has been blurry all year long... i even went back to my eye doctor -- and had another lasik eye treatment. yet i'm still seeing blurry. i've had fever -- chills... insomnia... irritability.. neck pain-- and severe pain in my right leg. i have cut back my workouts and thought my mystery illness and lack of workouts just meant.. a fat pocket. my doctor told me otherwise.. he is sending me to an orthopedic.. and said it's muscle atrophy but made no mention of the kenalog drug.. which the nurse told me on my way out. someone else wrote "moon face"-- not sure what thats but i feel everything has changed. And-- oh.. i have had many bouts of nausea and dizziness. Is there any recourse? does insurance cover any of that. ? someone please write me back.. how long will this last in my body and will this dent go away?

It's been about two months since the last of my three epidural injections. And, although all of my back pain and sciattica, related to my two herniated discs is gone, I am left with moon face, acne, irregular periods and a bloated stomach. One dr told me the symptoms would go away a few weeks after the last injection. They only seem to be getting worse. Any one else with a similar situation?

I had a series of 3 epidural injections of Kenalog for back pain. After the first one, I experienced increased blood pressure, hyper-irritability, insomnia. After the last one, my period was 2 weeks late and when it started, it was heavy. I have now been bleeding for 18 days. I have severe abdominal swelling and moon face. Medication doesn't seem to help any of these effects, including blood pressure. Anyone else have these problems?
