I received a kenalog injection to the right side of my chin for acne around the first week of August 2006. They wanted to
inject two of my pimples, fortunately I refused. Two weeks later I noticed discoloration, then the indention. Thank God it was small, about the size of the tip of my pinky. My GP sent me to a dermatologist who stated that it would go away but would take several months, maybe a year. I was skeptical and scared. It was Nov 2006 before I noticed any changes. Now, today, I can barely see an indention and the discoloration is completely gone. From looking at this site, I've concluded that I was definitely lucky.

Injection into bicep has a large indentation with numerous tiny pimples and whiteheads...its been 9 months, and the doctor said it should start to fill in over the period of a year (since the injection was administered)It hasn't gotten better, and may be worse...

In 2000 I had a cyst injected with Kenalog-10 in my right cheek (face) by Dr. Boyd at University of Michigan Cosmetic Dermatology in Livonia, MI. The cyst shrunk a little bit but a week later I still had the cyst and the Kenalog had created a red circle around it about .5" in diameter. 3 weeks later it looked like the cyst was ready to be drained (redness was still apparent) so I tried to squeeze it out. What a dumb idea. Now I'm left with 2 line scars, one above the cyst and one below it. To this day I still have the line scars and the bump from the cyst is still there, but I can't feel it anymore. I've tried glycolic peels, Retin-A, pulse dye-laser since the injection. I'm convinced now that I'll have these scars the rest of my life. I wish Dr. Boyd would've warned me ahead of time. I've squeezed pimples before in that area and have never gotten a scar. I believe the Kenalog thinned the skin, weakening it. It still looks somewhat depressed compared to the surrounding skin, and it turns pink if I don't cover it with moisterizer. If I just would've waited for the cyst to go away by itself I could've avoided a lifetime of suffering.

I find all the above symptoms/side effects strange.
I have keloids all over my body caused by ingrowing hairs and injuries. My doctor adviced me not to go for surgery as I had 90% chance of the keloids getting bigger. He suggested I tried kenelog injections and cordran tapes and they have worked like a miracle. The keloid behind my ears caused by ear piercing have flattened completely. The only side effects I have noticed are that my menstral cycle goes crazy (which is normal for someone taking steriods), I have increased pimples and the areas injected get slightly thinner and change colour. Asides from this, I believe that the results far outway the sideeffects which a somewhat reversible.
Only problem is that kenalog is a prescription drug and cost me too much to get since I am only a visitor in the UK.
