I've been taking Klonopin for only a week now. Kept going to doctors and telling them about my anxiety, they kept prescribing me antidepressants (many of which made me very emotional). Finally I was sent to a psychiatrist who prescribed 1mg Klonopin before bed and 50mg Pristiq every morning for the depression side of it. The Klonopin has been incredible. Makes me feel normal, much like I felt several years ago before all of the anxiety developed!! As for the Pristiq, I can't tell anything yet but I'll give it a while....

I'm taking 2.5 mg twice a day for migraine prevention and chronic daily headahces, and it works great. I would much rather deal with the mild sedation it causes than the pain I was going through. I can get out and do stuff more often now. Before klonopin I was laying in bed crying from the pain most of the time. Anyone who says they would rather deal with the headaches than the drugs has not been in as much pain as I have.

severe short term memory loss, notable irritability and aggression. I've been on 1-2mg a day for a year now and prior to that I was on .5mg a day with memory loss issues even then. If anything, I'd say the higher the dose, the higher the aggression, lethargy, confusion, and irritability are. Also I have blurred vision but since I am on adderall, that tends to go away shortly after I take it. For me the side affects outweigh the risks...Klonopin slows my racing thoughts and practically erases my overwhelming social anxiety and panic. I also have very, very few intense panic attacks anymore, maybe twice a year? This sure beats twice a day...With school it is hard, I am a senior in college and the memory thing is quite the frustration. But, like I said before, it outweighs the risks to take this drug. I also used to be a drug addicts and have had no issue with abusing this drug. I respect its limitations for it resects me by helping me, literally. Hope this helps.- H. in South Florida.

I recently was diagnosed with bipolar. My doctor put me on Klonopin .5mg three times a day. and on lamictal 25mg once a day Since I have been on those I have never felt better. I am finally thinking clearly. I am able to take care of my son better and do my day to day living. The only side effect I have noticed is blurry vision. But that comes and go so I won't be driving anytime soon which is fine with me for now.

WOAH. Klonopin works wonders for me. I have been on a number of anti-depressants for my ANXIETY... before I got on klonopin because the psychiatrists wouldn't let me go on anything like klonopin because it can be habit forming. All the anti-depressants I was ever on screwed me up in the head so badly that they all, in some way, made me some kind of crazy. I would be insane, turn into a raving lunatic, become extremely depressed to the point I could not stand being awake so i constantly slept. All these weird racing thoughts consumed me. Than I finally found a wonderful doctor who prescribed me klonopin and MAN! It makes me feel soooooo soooo calm.... feels like im floating on clouds. No more being nervous. NO more anxiety. =) I'd recommend it for anyone who becomes nervous and jittery to the point where they can't stand it.

I take Klonopin and Celexa and my mood and feeling are better than I remember before I started them. There are many other positive outcomes we have notices. I used to have many addictive behaviors and many of them have ceased. Now for the issues: I fall asleep every time I sit down. I have had arthritis since I was a young teen, so I do need to sit down for breaks anyway. I used to fall asleep from time to time, but now it is everyday. If I am in a meeting I nod off and start snoring. I was not able to work while depressed and anxious with panic attacks. I feel better, but I still am unable to work. I plan to stay on Klonopin as any other of the drugs would probably only be worse. When I was on Ativan about 17 years ago while I was in the hospital it only took me 5 - 15 minutes to fall asleep for at least 8 hours. I have friends that can drive long distances on these drugs, so it is not like this for everyone thank God!

Occasionally take approx. 2 mgs. of the generic form and have experienced the very disturbing side effect of memory loss. A place I visited in reality recently while on Klonopin now seems like it was only a dream. Though the drug helps with anxiety and helps to sleep, the negatives out-weigh any positives.

Please read his entire post in its entirety.

I spent 15 years on Klonopin. Initially I was placed on this medications for the side effects of Prozac, but it worked so well (initially) at curbing my panic attacks that I remained on it. It was a godsend for many years. My maximum dose was 1 mg twice daily (toward the end).

Several times I was able to discontinue this medication on my own with no problems, but in the late 90's I suddenly had trouble discontinuing this medication even with the help of a doctor, and I assumed this was because I had developed a 'dependence'.

My depression, anxiety, and panic attacks began to worsen during this time period, and I began to develop other symptoms - insomnia, pain in my spine and joints, IBS, a droopy left eyelid, restless legs, teeth-grinding - to name a few. I began to see more and more doctors as my list of symptoms grew, but doctors assumed that I was seeking more Klonopin and that there was nothing wrong with me.

There's a lot more to my story, but basically I almost died. Klonopin was merely a bandaid for what was really going on with me. I no longer even believe in "benzo dependence". Here's what was causing my anxiety:

Chronic Lyme, babesia, and several viral infections causing brain inflammation (join Lymenet!)

Also, severe electromagnetic hypersensitivities/microwave sickness.

If you've been placed on Klonopin, there is a good chance you are merely a victim of chronic Lyme and the wireless boom. Google "Elves Against ELF (& RF).

Electrical Sensitivity & Hypersensitivity:

http://www.ei-resource.org/illness-information/related-conditions/electrical-sensitivity-&-hypersensitivity/

Bioinitiative Report:

Klonopin only serves to sedate you to the fact that you have a raging infection in your nervous system, fueled by the wireless boom.

I only take .5mg twice a day for anxiety. Started taking to help with palpitations and lightheadedness (chronic). Seems to help alot. Just as I started it a head cold settled in, so can't discern if the fatigue is from the cold, the klonopin, or both. Even with the fatigue I feel so much more functional. So very interesting. Bill

My husband takes 0.5mgs. each day for restless leg and mood problems. He is still having leg jerks but they are different than usual. He usually has flutters in his feet about every 5 to 10 seconds at night but now they jerk and wake him up. He is better mood-wise but I have noticed sometimes he is more aggitated in public places like restaurants. He seems to be annoyed and loader when he talks. He seems mad all the time except at home. I wonder if he just needs to be at home at night at dinner time? OR is that just a side effect of this medicine. He changes once he has had something to eat though. It seems to me that food is the key with him to stablize this situation. I have also noticed once or twice him staggering like John Wayne when he walks at that same time. Otherwise he feels generally better and less anxious at work.

I have been on Klonopin for over a year, with positive results.
Becacuse I did not make it to my Dr. app. last week, my doctor will not refill my RX, I have been told by three doctors that I have anxiety disorder. When I take my prescription of this medicine--- it helps with my anxiety. I take it as prescribed, which is 2 tabs of 1mg a day. I do not abuse my medicine. When I take it, I feel normal- with NO side effects, sometimes- it does make me a little sleepy....but I do feel so much better taking it, then with out it. More to talk about, but do not want to go on, and on about it! Thanks for reading! H. Clark in Washington

I'v take Klonopin 1mg 2 times a day, but I take an extra if I'm getting anxious, many problems in my life recently have left me taking an extra 1 or 2 aday. Now I feel tired even after 10 hours of sleep and my head is dizzy, swaying almost I feel it mostly in my temples. Is this overdose. When I finally got the right combination of Lexapro 30 mg. once a day and Klonopin 1 mg twice a day I felt normal now I think I screwed it up. Teresa

I am taking a small dose of Clonazepam to prevent sleepwalking... I have noticed increased joint pain and I am wondering if it is related to this drug...

I am female and in my early 50's.

I have an uncle and he takes Klonopin. For about three months he has been having problems waking up with a sudden jerk of his leg. When he tries to fall asleep the jerking of his leg wakes him up. Is this a bad thing that can lead to something unhealthy?
