Levaquin and body aches

I have been on levaquin for three days 750 mg i feel horrible i cannot sleep i wake up soak and wet and then have chills my body aches and i feel as though i cant keep still. i have a constant headache, what i thought was going to make me feel better from a severe sinus infection has left me feeling like im gonna die. it is scarey that they allow this to stay on the market. iam not by any means taking the rest and feel like not only flushing the rest but burning it. oh yeah iam sick to my stomach and then when i do eat i have pain and nausea again. i hope it doesnt take to long to get out of my system this stuff is straight up evil. i will tell anyone who will listen NOT TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE. BEST TO ALL.

After first two days I had very bad diarrhea with bad gas and cramping. So I took Immodium. The diaherra got better but I still experienced some gastro issues. I also had a few bumps on my face that looked like acne. The next day I started to get very bad body aches in my neck, lower back, knees, hips and calfs. The rash exploded and was all over my face. Big red sore and very itchy. Benadryl cortaid help a little but not much. I looked up this site and will stop taking it and call my Doctor.

I've been taking 500 mg Levaquin for about 2 weeks for a chronic urinary tract problem. I've taken it before for a shorter period of time, with limited side effects, but this last time was another story. I got severe abdominal and lower back pain that keep that makes it difficult for me to walk, sit or lay down. I'm experiencing so much nausea and lathargy that I haven't been to work since I started this last regiman of Levaquin. My doctor has no idea why I'm experiencing so much discomfort despite my urinary tract infection has been resolved even though I still have the constant urge to go and are totally bloated. I told him I thought it was the medication,but he wouldn't confirm it. He just discontinued the medication and scheduled me for a CAT scan asap. The nurse told me that she's heard of Levaquin causing body aches similar to the flu. What's up with the doc not informing me of that information. Conspiracy with the drug company ? I'm just scared the symptoms with take forever to go away. Anyone out there experience the same thing and have seen the light at the end of this horrible tunnel?

Migrane's (which I never had before), Can't eat anything, I can only drink water everything else makes me sick. Body aches, a lot of cold sweats.

I had to worst bladder infection of my life this past weekend. I have been on Levequin since Monday night, and my entire lower body aches. I thought I would look up side effects of the drug, and WOW there it is....all the problems I have been having. Im only 22, and I may be 10 lbs overweight, so I knew it wasnt anything like that. What is the deal with this mess?

After taking Levaquin 500mg daily for seven days plus one injection:

Side Effects:
- Body Aches and Sore Joints - especially the shoulders
- Nausea
- Night Chills
- Swollen & Achy Testicles
- Swollen, Sore, Stiff Right Foot, protruding up through calve muscle

With four days of medication remaining I called my doctor and told him I could not continue. He switched me to Zithromax and most of my symptoms have disappeared. After being off Levaquin for four days, my foot is still very sore, to the point where it effects my ability to sleep.

My mother was prescribed Levaquin for a bladder infection on January 19, 2004. She took it for 8 days and our life has been a living hell ever since. She is a little better now but after she took the medication we thought she was going crazy. She did not sleep at night, had muscle spasms in her legs (her legs would pop up for no reason at all), had heat flashes, serious anxiety, she could not taste food at all (she lost 30 lbs), body aches, very sore muscles, nightmares, crying, feeling like she wanted to jump out of her own skin, an overall feeling of doom. After several doctors visits and emergency room visits she is almost herself again. My mom is 64 years old and a very outgoing woman. Someone needs to see that this drug gets taken off of the market!! If she had been told of the possible side effects she would have never taken Levaquin!!

I took Levaquin for a pretty severe case of pneumonia. It's hard to say whether I could initially distinguish side effects from the 103, coughing fits, wheezing, and tremendous body aches and fatigue -- interestingly, I thought the body hangover (2 days after the fever was gone) was from the heavy-weight cough medicine. No material impact once the 10 days of meds were complete.

Just got back on Levaquin to combat what felt like a sinus infection - Dr. did not want it turning back into pneumonia like last month 37 year old, I feel like I'm 70!

I stopped taking the Levaquin after 2 days - something was definitely not right this time around:

My sinuses feel better BUT:
My hands are killing me - the bones hurt!
My throat it as dry as the desert
Headaches that come and go
Sore calf leg muscles
Didn't sleep the first or second nights very much at all
Tightness breathing or some kind of chest discomfort - know that it's not a heart attack

I dug the prescription card out of the garbage and looked at the possible side effects - holy crap, it still hurts when I type .. kind of like I just bowled about 60 games in a row with a ball that had holes that were too small. Got to go back to fix this cough again, but from now on, no Levaquin - I don't feel quite right yet after 2 days off.

I have taken Levaquin very successfully with little or no side effects. A very effective treatment for UTIs and ear infections. I would like to point out that if you are taking it in conjunction with another medication, your conditions may be do to the other product or interaction between the two. I.E. - Prednisone. I absolutely CANNOT take that at all because it literally turns me from Dr. Jekyll into MRS. HYDE, complete with irritability, severe insomnia, basically made me CRAZY. Also, if you have been diagnosed with a UTI, the body aches and general "been hit by a truck" feeling can be due to the infection, especially if it is a serious one.

I took Levaquin for only two days for a sinus infection and bronchitis, my bloodpressure is up and my heart rate is 84, my chest is pounding all day and night, I do not sleep well or at all, my head hurts, I have swelling in my face and I am experiencing depression, crying spells and my body aches. I will never take it again. I am amazed that it is still prescribed by doctors after reading all the side effects that have been reported. After reporting my symptoms my doctor did take me off the med., if she hadn't I would have.

7 days into my Levaquin I began suffering panic attacks, severe dizziness, tinnitus, severe muscle pain, visual problems, nausea, difficulty walking, huge mouth sores, severe body aches and pains, sweating, insomnia, night terrors, seizures, and on and on. One year later I am still suffering from some of these.

tendonitis, horrible pain in both ankles. Crippling, in a wheel chair, ankle in cast. Overall body aches and pains, anxiety disorders, neuropathies. not fun. don't take and don't take with any cortisone product will double your side effects.

I took Levaquin for bronchitis and an acute upper respiratory infection and have had body aches, headaches (I never get), exhaustion, dizziness and my balance being way off, neck, back and rib pain that comes and goes all together. I went to the doctor and only got to see a PA (Physicans assistant) who said it must be a virus. I later read the side effects of Levaquin. I can't believe an antibiotic could have such side effects and be on the market. But that is our good old FDA - run by the pharmceutical companies lining the board member's pockets with stocks. How else could they keep women on HRT for decades despite the breast cancer research.

Anyway, I took Levaquin from Feb. 8th to Feb. 17th, 2003. Can a Naturopath offer any solutions?

I appreciate this sight. I have been feeling weak and I have been experiencing body aches and pains. After reading many comments by people here, I feel like Levaquin is probably responsible. I have also had the headache and heartburn that others mentioned. I am not going to take any more of the pills and I will call the doctor tomorrow.

Thank you so much for this site. I thought I was crazy. I developed pneumonia,doctor prescribed LEVAQUIN. I have many of the same body aches that other have discribed. I can hardly lift my right arm, severe shoulder pain, I can hardly standup because of the pain in my knees, feel like swelling behind the knee. Very tired, I still have a lot of conjestion in my chest and I have finished my (10) days of LEVAQUIN. During this I have had Dexascan, EKG, (2) chest Xrays, Complete blood work, my EKG had some abnormalities,(HEART RATE WAS VERY HIGH)Another side effect? so I had to have ECHO-CARDIOGRAM,no results yet. I was convienced that I was getting rheumiod arthrithis. Hope we all recover soon.
