Levaquin and buttocks

A week and a half ago my doctor prescribed Leviquan for a sinus infection that I had. The day that I started taking it I noticed that my left shoulder was hurting when i stretched my arn out and lifted it over my head. My heels began to be sore and I developed a rash around my buttocks. Being 67 tears old, at first I attributed it all to my age and thought it would get better. I have had rashes before and got over them. I began to loose sleep and then there where 2 night where I didn't sleep at all. This is when my suspicions developed and then last night I went to bed and awoke an out later on fire. I have a rash covering my entire body now. i tried to use the restroom but could not relieve myself. I went to the computer and that's when i found that all of these symptoms are for Leviquin. The urination problem has to do with crystallization of the drug in the urinary track or something like that. I called the doctor's office and was immediately taken off the drug (I had already taken myself the damn stuff) and told to take bynadryl. If it get's worst, go to the emergency room (Well Ya!!). Time for the lawyer

Today I was prescribed 750Mg of Levaquin for an allergic reaction to something,which I & My doctor don't know what the underlying cause was. I was also given 3 other meds-however I didn't start any but the Levaquin today. It was only 1 hour after taking Leveaquin that my left side of my face went numb,followed by my lips and eyes swelling. I couldn't swallow or breath. My left arm went completely numb,and I started to shake and get very pale. I immediately called my doctor,who said to get to his office right away. He checked my throat,and said it appeared to be fine.He stated hes never heard of any of my reactions to Levaquin,but Gave me a shot of something in my buttocks. I would say in less the 15 min I felt so much better. Also the allergic reaction I had in the first place seem to be somewhat under control. I sure hope this is the end of it, and this medicine levaquin is completely out of my system as soon as is humamly possible.

Hello All, My Levaquin nightmare began on June 18th, 2008. The side effects I had were so unbelievable, most of you, if not all of you will believe this. I had severe night sweats which would transfer over to a extreme cold chills, which would allow me to sweat like crazy. Bathed in Sweat. I thought there were small needles all around me and poking me everywhere. My feet, toes, knees and buttocks tingled like there was no tomorrow (and still are to this day). When and how can I make these side effects go away. I'm sick of them. I no longer have the night sweats or the bitter chills, I'm now totally aware of want is going on around me, while taking the med and several days after I couldn't even tell you my name. The bridge of my nose, and running across to my ears tingled like crazy and my ears rang all the time, and they still ring once in a while still. I need to know when this feeling of tingling in my hands, feet, knees, legs and humming in my ears will go a way. Help! I think this drug needs to taken off the market. I took a total of 17 pills. My first scripted was for 15 days and by not knowing any better less then a week later and another doctors appointment, and one more script, which I filled. I took two pills from that bottle. My husband called the doctor and she told him this wasn't normal. She told him that I was to stop the med asap, which I did and I'm still having these awful tingling. If anyone, anyone has any suggestion of how to get those med out of my system I would certainly appreciate it. God Bless each and every one of you. May you all find relief.

My 22 year old daughter had reconstructive ankle surgery on March 2. Her doctor prescribed 500 mg of Levaquin once daily for 5 days as a preventitive for pneumonia. She has to spend 3 months down with her leg elevated and the chances of pneumonia are great. On March 4th she woke up with a small rash on her right inner thigh. On March 5th, she woke up with a fever and discovered that the rash had spread to both thighs, has completely covered her buttocks and has covered her entire back. I just got off the phone with the doctors office and they have advised taking her off Levaquin. It was obvious to me that it was an adverse reaction to this drug so I had already discontinued giving it to her. She claims none of the other side effects that others appear to be having on this site, but I thought I should add that a very itchy, painful, severe body rash is another side effect to this drug.

On top of the pain in my knees, shoulder, arm, hand, and waking-up rather foggy minded, I just started experiencing bluriness in my left eye and terrible pains in my buttocks. The pain seems to be more noticeable on the right side of my butt. It feels like I've been tortured with one of those exercise machines for firming your butt. I can't hardly walk and I almost used one of those electric carts at the grocery store this afternoon, but my pride wouldn't let me.

I am a female, I went to my doctor Maybe a month ago with a urinary tract infection, He put me on levaquin. I begun to get a little better but the infection was not completely gone, So I called him back and went a second round with levaquin. That was like a month ago. I went back to the doctor with a rash that would not seem to go away. It started on my feet and then my legs, he told me it was Chigger bites, he gave me an anti-inflammtory drug, predinsone,and a lotion for itching. Shortly after that I pulled muscles in my shoulder and neck swimming, Went back to the Doctor, Was told I just pulled some muscles and was gave muscle relaxers and loratab. My rash by this time was much worse, it had spread to under my arms, buttocks, arms. Basically all over. I went back to the doctor today and was sent to a dermatologist. She right off looking at it close under a light, Said I had a drug reaction. The rash had spread to my throat and she was concerned about that. We went over all the different medication I had been on, I absent mindly forgot about the levaquin. She told me to refer to my medical record and try to find out what drugs I had taken in the past, That I didn't normally take. Levaquin was it. Be careful taking this medication, Drug reactions can be very dangerous. I am almost 90% sure that it was caused by the levaquin. I will touch base tomorrow with my dermatologist to see what she thinks about the levaquin- But after reading all of these side effects you all have had, I am convinced. Next urinary infection I have, I think i will ask the doctor for a different antibiotic.
