While taking Levaquin I experienced insomnia and anxiety. One week after completing 500mg a day for 10 days, I began experiencing Tendonitis in my right hand/wrist and have had an incredibly painful earache with tinnitus and vertigo. The ENT doctor diagnosed TMJ, but I do not grind my teeth or clench my teeth. My jaw operates just fine with no immediate pain, but the earache persists almost constantly. The ENT doctor's solution was Vicodin, but I want a cure not a pain treatment. I don't believe I have TMJ and wonder if it could be the temporal tendon. I am indirectly aware of two other people who have had the same experience, and I wonder how many others are out there. If any one else has experienced this and has any knowledge or advice to offer, I would greatly appreciate it. I have no idea who to go to about this. The ENT doctor does not have any solutions, and I doubt a dentist can help me because I don't think it's TMJ.

To everyone who has taken this drug,
I thought I was going crazy after the third day of taking levaquin. I started 4 days ago and haven't been able to sleep because the pain is waking me up. Also my right leg from my back to the tip of my numb toes is excrutiatingly painful. I've since stopped taking it but, I feel terrible. I can't begin to describe the level of pain that I have. I feel so alone and in so much pain that I dare not to tell the doc of this because I have cancer (carcinoid) , and I'm sure he will just think this is a result of my cancer. Somebody please help me!

Had an aching testicle...for unknown reasons. Doc put me on levaquin for 13 days...no symptoms. About a week after taking it developed a 102 fever (but only at night), aching joints, blood pressure went up, pulse increased, rapid weight loss (16 lbs in less then 3 weeks). Doc gave me another perscription for 30 days. Six days into it I called and complained of symptoms. Took me off it and ordered a blood test. All was normal except alkaline phosphatase (slightly elevated). Doc was concerned about the rapid weight loss saying that it is attributable to cancer however acknowledged none of this started till after I started taking levaquin. Now I'm going for a battery of tests. I'm 40, no health problems, no other meds, and was very active. Something shut me down! I hope this is the problem and I hope the reactions subside. Anyone similiar...especially with the weight loss?

I have posted before. I am still having extreme pain in my joints, particularly my knees. Mobility has become very difficult, and this whole thing is getting really old.
Now I have been diagnosed with a 4.7 cm. mass in my right lung. I had started coughing about three weeks ago, which I attributed to the pneumonia for which I took Levaquin and Cipro in the first place. Then I started coughing up blood and my doctor has done a chest x-ray and a CT scan of my lungs. He says I have a tumor suspicious for cancer.
Now I'm wondering if anyone else's symptoms have progressed this way? If anyone, ANYONE, has had this happen to you, I really need to hear from you. I am feeling very scared right now, and in constant pain from the joint pain and now in my lung.
My email address is ******. Please put something about Levaquin in the subject line so I'll know it's a real email.
Thank you to everyone.

Three years ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an infection. After the Levaquin I was unable to stay up in my wheelchair for more than two hours. I started taking two extra strength Tylenol and I was able to increase that to three hours. I added Naproxen 325 mg and that has decreased the pain and has also increased the time in my wheelchair by about an hour. I am also on a drug called Lyrica 150 mg which has decreased the pain further. I am a quadriplegic so I cannot feel anything below my shoulders but my body responds to pain. I can tell that my body is in constant pain but of course I cannot feel were it's coming from. Ever since the Levaquin I also have a condition called Terry's nails. I looked at this condition on the Internet and is says that Terry's nails occurs when the body is in distress usually with kidney disease or liver disease or cancer. I've had more blood tests than I can count and all of them are normal. My body's sensitivity to pain appears to be getting worse. I'm not sure what can help anymore, have any of you found anything out about pain management?
