It saddens me to read all the horrible effects this drug has caused. My husband took Levaquin back in August 2007and after 2 days starting have aching muscles, joints, drenching night sweats, high fever, rash. He took this poison drug for days(for a swollen lymph node in groin) and the side effects would not go away. He too was a very healthy 43 year old who worked out 4-5 times a week and very physically fit. This went on for months. He was tested for TB, AIDS, Lyme disease, I think every infectious disease and lymphoma, all came back negative. In Oct. 2007 he was hospitalized for 6 days and we were told that he had a very rare disease called Still's Disease. (google it and read about it please) I with all my heart and soul feel that LEVAQUIN brought this disease on. There is very little known about Still's but it's scary to think that doctors are giving this poison to patients. My husband has been on daily injections of Kineret, Methotrexate and Predisone since October and thank God these meds have given him relief. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE LEVAQUIN and tell all you family, friends and co-workers about it!

I took this in the hospital for 4 days through a IV, I had a 9 beat V-Tach then a few triplets and more. The RN on duty came in and said don't ever let them give this to you again, and showed me the tape that was off the monitor that I wore, she said they use paddles to get you to come back and that's the only thing they can do. I have never had a heart problem in my life, I had a blood infection and my ammonia level was high because I have a liver disease that was why I was in the hospital. The infectious disease doctor they got for me for the blood infection came in when I was ready to be released and said here's a script for a weeks worth of Levaquin , I said isn't that what caused my heart to react like that? He said no take it. I came home and called my liver coordinator and she said get of that stuff we've had so many problems with it.

Oops! Excuse the entry below. I goofed & hit the wrong key.
Anyhoo, here is my Levaquin story. I am 51 & was diagnosed with cellulitis on Jan. 19th of this year. I was given an IV drug, (Daptomyacin) & 500 mg of Levaquin for 16 days. Towards the end of the treatment, my joints became very achy. (mostly in my knees) I was having burning, tingling sesations throughout my body & my calves were cramping. One week after treatment, I could barely walk through our house. I normally am active, with daily walks & short jogs. Within days, I had to have knee surgery. It is now almost 5 weeks past my surgery. The achy joints, burning, cramping & tingling are still present off & on throughout my body. Although the orthopaedic surgeon did find trauma in my knee, (past fractures, etc.) I am convinced the Levaquin sped up & exacerbated the damage. Now my other knee is hurting so bad, I am starting to think that one will need surgery as well. Both my orthopaedic surgeon the infectious disease Dr. that prescribed the Levaquin dismiss the notion that Levaquin had anything to do with it or that my joints are aching because of the drug. I am thrilled I find this site, because I realize that I haven't imagined these symptoms. But the reality of these reactions is quite sobering. I have never had a bad reaction to a drug in my lifetime. This one was so sudden & severe, I had to add my account to this list. I've just started trying the Milk of Magnesia & hope it works. I too have been drinking lots of water. God bless each of you out there suffering with this & may we find some solutions soon.

I am 35, was in good health, ate right etc. In October of 04, I took levaquin for a bacterial infection that had caused swollen lymph nodes. The infection returned and I was given another round of levaquin after Thankgiving. Around the holiday season, my feet and legs starting hurting (feet hurt, leg muscles ached), left wrist and fingers started hurting, and recently my knees and thigh muscles have begun to hurt. I have been to several doctors, including an infectious disease doctor who ran scores of tests (everything came back negative). He is treating me for TB even though the tests came back negative (a biopsied lymph node indicated an infection). He thinks it is a mycobacterial infection. When I can across this site about levaquin, it was like an epiphany - some here decribed my symptoms to a T. I called my doctor but he said these symptoms were not from levaquin. He wants to put me in steroids for a week to see if that helps the pain. I am able to go to work and function, but running and moving around pain free are not options now. I am ready to return to normal.

Anyone have suggestions for these symptoms? How long does it take for these effects to dissipate? If the pain would go away, I'd be back to normal. This has been going on for a few months now, but I haven't taken levaquin in 1.5 months.

Help!
Rob
