Levaquin and severe anxiety

Hey guys i was given LEVAQUIN for a Bacterial infection, maybe a UTI or some other types pertaining with E-coli. At first i was fine. I was given 750 mg for 5 days. Today is 9 am of the 4th day and i have one more pill to go. First night was fine. Had a few nightmare, specially one pertaining to my umbilical cord poping out of my belly. VERY WEIRD... Second day was ok felt a little weak from the drug, but have severe anxiety attack. On the third day i started noticing. Some sores most probably thrushing form the drug ( years infection ) but more like sores in circles on my tongue. The fourth day i was the worst. My mind could not stop racing. I was very anxious. I could not even sit through a movie without going crazy. I had bed tremors. Left very HOT real quickly and started sweating and then feel cold when there is too much air blowing. Weird things like that. I got a lump in my throat. NOt sore but more like i can swallow my spit. I had no headaches at all from this drug. ( I THINK YOU GUYS NEED TO REALIZE THIS, headaches are caused by this drug if you do not drink A LOT OF WATER. I am now drinking about 4 to 5 liters of water a day. It helps with the JOINT ACES and headaches. BUT NOT the physiological effects. Man those are killers. I think i am going to take my last pill this evening at 7:30 and hope for the best. I have had no fever at all but soem fluxuation in degree of temp from 97 to 99 degree in general. Please if any of you guys have similar symptoms like mine, specially hot and cold sweats and mouth dryness and soars on your tongue. Please email me back i would like your input.
I am going to call my doctor today and ask him what to do but i am sure i ca continue on this drug.

I started taking Levequin before a procedure I was getting (cystoscopy) and was told to take ot for 3 days, 500 mg. The first day i took it I had severe insomnia/heart racing/shortness of breath but I attributed this to nerves due to the proecdure I was getting , the night of the procedure I slept fine but I was also doped up on anesethia. Yesterday was my last night of Levaquin and I once again was up all night. Not only that but I have severe anxiety, feelings of hoplelessness, dread and just worry all day long. I don't knwo what to do. I am 31 years old and 2 weeks ago was feeling fine. I actually took some xanax last night for the anxiety and it really did nothing although it usually does help when I have minor anxiety. I really do not know what to do. I have to go to work every day feeling depressed, achy and lethargic. I just made another dr appt. 3rd dr in 4 days. I have lunesta at home but it rarely works for me. Any suggestions to help me sleep and get rid of the jitters??

I was prescribed Levaquin 750 for 5 days for resolving pneumonia. I didn't finish the last pill due to increased heart rate and severe anxiety. These symptoms did stop for me. However, about a good 2-3 wks later my wrist started hurting. I thought I may have slept on it funny or something. Then a day or two later, my jaw started hurting so bad I couldn't chew at times. Another 2-3 days which leads me to today, I am having tingling/shock sort of feelings running thru my legs and arms and still having the jaw and wrist pain. I have an appt next week with my doc. I'm sure she'll send me thru all the tests everyone here has mentioned to no avail. This is very frustrating and scarey. I wish folks would repost and let the rest of us know how they are progressing. I will post back after my visit. I am going to try the magnesium and 5-htp the gentleman said worked for his wife. I am becoming a firm believer in a more holistic and natural approach to healing. I know sometimes chemical medicines save lives but this one has caused my life a lot of pain that I feel was not necessary for a very light case of walking pneumonia. Good luck to everyone. I was prescribed 500 mg Levaquin for a bacterial throat infection. About 4 hours after taking my first dose and going to bed, I jolted out of my sleep in a panic. My heart was racing and I was covered in sweat. I assumed I had experienced a nightmare but after several minutes my symptoms did not subside. I felt "out of my body," my head was spinning and I was experiencing what I now know was a severe anxiety/panic attack. (I almost asked my roommate to rush me to the hospital) At that point I did not connect the anitibiotic with this reaction. I took another dose the next night and again experienced the dizzy~lightheaded~sweaty~slight paranoia-type symptoms, but not to the extreme as the first dose. On the 3rd day when the joints in my right fingers felt swollen and painful I decided to cruise the internet for side effects. I was shocked to see so many others had experienced something similar. I'm discontinuing this drug (a wasted $35) and will warn others about my reaction.
*On a side note: My roommate was placed on the same drug and spent 7 days on this medicaiton. She experienced no adverse side-effects.

pulse went up to 135 causing Atrial fibulation. Severe anxiety.
Blood sugars up from 105 to 225. Ankles were extremely swollen. Blood pressure...usually 130 over 80...went down to 100 or less over 60.

Just started Levaquin 250 mg for a UTI, have only taken one pill (last night) and experienced the most wicked nightmares and disorientation upon waking that I have ever had. Fell asleep at 10:30, awoke at 12:00 and was up the rest of the night with insomnia. I remember my sister in law telling me her husband experienced depression, nightmares and palpatations after being on Levaquin for a few days, and that is what I initially thought of after my head cleared a little last night. Got up, read the PDR (probably should have done that BEFORE I took the meds) and then found this site. Thinking back, I stopped taking this two years ago when I had palpations and severe anxiety. That's it for me!

I was prescribed Levaquin for a sore throat. Within days, I experienced, severe anxiety & dizziness, couldn't concentrate or focus, couldn't function properly at work, my legs felt week, felt cold, and jittery. I thought I was losing my mind. I will never take this medication again.
