Levaquin and tremendous pain

I took Levaquin for 20 days for a sinus infection. It wasn't until that last day that my right knee was in tremendous pain; I couldn't straighten it out or really move it. It's been almost 2 weeks since I stopped the Levaquin and my right knee is still painful. It feels really tight and if I turn my leg I get a sharp pain. I have to walk gingerly or I will have a shooting pain in my knee. I also have pain in my elbows and my right thumb, along with sporadic headaches. The pain seems to change daily. Does anyone have any experience as to whether this thing will go away -- every?

Wow, this is so scary! My boyfriend, incredibly strong and physically fit was put on the antibiotic for a UTI and has used the antibiotic maybe 5 or 6 times over the past couple years. He noticed severe pain in his feet and went to his family doctor as well as an Orthopedic doctor, neither came to the conclusion that this drug was his problem. We just found all of this information that has answered so many questions as his tendons have been torn in both feet for quite a while now with no explanation. Does anyone know....IS THERE PERMANENT???? He is also having soreness in his biceps as well as in his shoulder area? He just stopped taking the drug and any information would be great! I believe that everyone should get together and sue these drug companies...this shocks me!

I was prescribed Levaquin in Feb./March for 30 days. I have had tremendous pain in my heels since then. I am walking slower as every joint and muscle in my body hurts. I can barely stoop down and it is getting worse. I can not sleep. I thought I was just going through some depression and stress until I started reading about it in the WSJ and now realize I fit many of the symptoms being discussed.
We all need to take some action as this is only going to get worse for everyone.

Tremendous pain and pressure in eyes. Broken ankle feeling. Sprained wrist feeling. Unnatural headache. Less frequent peeing. Insomnia. Severe fatigue. Depression. Detachment. Anxiety. Crying fits. Nightmares. Manic episodes. Saying wrong words and dropping things from my hand very easily. Confusion while driving in my own neighborhood. Calf pain, as though it were going to split wide open, and at other times as though on the edge of a charley horse, lasting for several hours. Extremely DEEP shoulder pain. Funny taste in mouth. Substantial decrease of appetite. Misc deep and quite disturbing pains in fingers and toes and hands and feet. Strange 'bubbly' sensations under skin. Strange 'wet' feelings (like blood running down) under skin. Sore to the touch 'sunburned' feelings on skin. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE POISON AND MUST BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET!!! STILL AFFECTED 3 WEEKS AFTER STOPPING PILL AND COUNTING!!! DO NOT TAKE WITH STEROIDS OR IBUPROFIN OR CAFFINE - MAY LEAD TO MULTI-SYSTEM ORGAN FAILURE!!!!!!!

I was given samples of Levaquin for a U.T.I. and read this site before beginning the pills. I was scared out of my wits by reading the postings and drastic and lasting side effects. I went to see 2 pharmacists, who assured me there were very few people who developed these reactions. I decided to try the pills, just taking the first one to see how I did, as I was in such tremendous pain from the infection and it was getting worse rapidly. I felt no side effects, other than a slight metallic taste in the early morning, and felt 100% better just a little more than an hour after taking the first one! I took one per day for 7 days and never had any side effects. I am now done with the pills and would recommend that people consider taking Levaquin and not being freaked out by the messages on this site- tho I realize each person is different, Levaquin worked well for me and I had less side effects than I can remember ever feeling from any antibiotic.
