I have been on .50mcg of Levoxyl for Hashimotos for three months now. I definitely have the dry eye issue and am going to my optometrist today to see if the steroid eye drops helped.
In the early weeks I had dizziness and even broke out in a light rash twice. The only thing that hasn't completely gone away yet is the morning sickness-like nausea that I wake up with. But that generally passes within that half hour period before I eat.
To you who have posted or will post, my suggestion is TALK to your endocrinologist. Your dosage may be a little bit off, which may cause some of these symptoms.

I've been taking Levoxyl for approximately two years or Hypothyroid. Before that I took levothyroxine, but my symptoms were worse with that. I've never taken Synthroid.
When I was first diagnosed, my TSH level was around 144... off the charts. It tooks about 4 or 5 months before I got level. The medication seemed to make my symptoms increase. Each month however, my TSH level dropped.
I started feeling good when my TSH level was below 10. I felt awesome at TSH level 1.
My doctor became concerned that my level would drop too much so she lowered by dosage to .150mcg. Over several months, I noticed my symptoms returning. I requested to have my level checked but my physician said it wasn't time. By the time I was checked, my TSH was 20.
My dosage was increased to .175 mcg. The last two weeks after the dosage increase have been horrible. Migraines, vertigo, nausea, irritability, and absolutely no motivation.
I've been feeling better over the last two days and think I'm getting level again.
Don't assume your doctor knows you better than you do. Find out the number that works for you and fight for it!

I was experiencing all the side affects and more PRIOR to taking this medication. What brought it all to light was having a menstrual flow since Jan. 10th and ending early March. I realize there will be side effects I have to deal with - also we must remember there are other factors involved - do we smoke, drink alcohol, eat processed foods, eat too much refined sugars, caffeine? Given the opportunity as I slept way too much prior to this drug, if one of the side effects is that I can't sleep - I'll have a valerian root tea at 8:30 p.m to be in bed by 9:00. Cut out alcohols, caffeine, etc. Should nauseau arise - eat smaller portions through out the day. Should constipation arise - increase water and a less fiber intake. We as individuals must try to find that fine medium to a balanced lifestyle and not depend on the doctors for all of our answers. Our bodies and chemical equations are extremely complex and will be for quite some time.

About two years ago my entire body fell apart. I was told that my thyroid was not working, a couple of months later I was told that I also had acid reflex. I have been taking Levoxyl (.075mg) going on two years now.
My joints hurt so (hips, knees, shoulders, elbows, and knuckles) sometimes I feel slightly nauseau.
In the past few months the pain has worsened. I mentioned this to my doctor and he gave me some sample pain pills used to treat arthritice. I also mentioned tightness in my chest and pains under or next to my rib cage. The good old doctor sent me for an ultrsound and everything was normal, next he sent me to a doctor that ran a scope down my throat and everything was normal as could be having acid reflex. I am so tired of the run around, my body feels like I am beyond my years. I just want to be able to sleep a full night once again.
My husband said that he heard that virgin coconut oil is not good for your health. Who do you believe?

This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Levoxyl. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Levoxyl, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways. Please always contact your physician.

I have been on Levoxyl for years. Have experienced all the side affects this medication has and then some more! My hair loss and thinning, depression, bone aches, headaches, fatigue, and much more...finally I asked the doctor is there was anything else out there in the market which had less side effects....there is a natural product which has been in the market for many years called Armour Thyroid (*******). All I know is that if I continued to take Levoxyl, I will most likely end up in bed for life...I am only 43 yrs old and would like to have at least "normal" energy for my age. There is NO reason I should feel a lot older and I know for a fact it is the medication. I have only been taking Armour Thyroid for just a few days but will report my well being in about the next 30 days. Since I was on 100mg of Levoxyl a day, am taking two grains of 30 mg a day for a total of 60 mg of Armour a day. In about 25 days I go for blood work to check levels, so far I experience a bit of nausea right after I take the "new" medication but it does not last all day. Hopefully, this new med will give me my LIFE back! Thanks for reading.
