I took it for one month only. In the first week I was extremely fatigued but ignored it. Then I got stiffness in my fingers. I started getting cramps in my feet and legs. I stopped the medication after exactly one month. It has been one month since I stooped taking it. But my symptoms have not gone away. My arms and legs are still stiff. I develop severe pain in my left arms. There is a terrible tingling sensation in my body when I sleep. I am going to see a neurologist next week. I hope there is no permanent nerve damage. I have started taking Lyrica 50 mg in the mean time to get rid of this tingling sensation.

my husband had never been one to go to G.P.s or have reason to take prescription medication( not even an aspirin ) . Finally had a medical test- Cholesterol was high- was not given a chance to change his eating habits- and was placed on LIPITOR ( this was 18 months ago ) and since- everything has gone downhill from there. He has suffered nausea, blacked out, had headaches/tingling sensation, chest pains, aching/fatigue to legs/feet and arms. - shoulder pain- has problems getting up from bed or from sitting position- has generally lost power in his arms and legs. His doctor was advised over the past several months of his pains- but had no idea what caused them and changed the script to Crestor. ( still a Statin drug ). Have ( on good avice from chemist assistant ) now got him on daily dose of Q10- and he ( 2 weeks ago ) decided to stop taking the Lipitor or any other cholesterol lowering statin drug- of his own choosing. He has had several visits to podiatrist to help alleviate the pain to his feet - which are sore and swollen. His liver levels were also high at on stage. All this has happened to him sine he started the Lipitor statin. Prior to this- He has never had previous medical conditions or medication. Seems to point the finger at one reason- LIPITOR !!!!!- THEY CANT BLAME IT ON ANYTHING ELSE. Just want him to get back some energy. He is 56. One more story to add to the thousands of complaints, Why isn't anyone in the medical field / lawyers commenced a full investigation to all these complaints? thousands of people cant be wrong. Bring on Erin B.

My husband had a day fuzzy thinking and memory loss That scared me more then I can explain. With years of Joint pains back pains, loss of patiences and sometimes showing signs of depression for unknown reasons. He has a lot weakness in his arms and legs,he is tired more then ever. I thought he was just being lazy. constant fatigue and the shakes real bad. His knees pop in and out sometimes.
He difficulty with short-term memory and when we tell him things he did or said he has a hard time believing it. Also through the night he has to 'go' more often then ever. I always wondered where it came from.
Lipitor has almost destroyed our life in ways that we hope to be able to overcome in time. This is the only medicine he took so it has to be the BLAME.

I took Lipitor for about 2 years- 5 mg.
Leg cramps-soreness throughout my muscles- very sore buttocks-
my legs are shaky- if I use them too much; (as in walking 3 miles)
I am (was ) an avid body builder that could squat with 100 lbs- and now ( I am a health conscious -non drinking- NO other medication 104 lb slim female) have quivering legs if I stand for too long. I even had a muscle biopsy- and it cam back negative- I have not had a statin for 6 months- but I still have cramps- and abnormal liver values- and I have NO other conditions-I have been scanned from head to toe - open MRI- closed MRI -but the muscle stiffness- soreness- especially legs- continues-
does anyone know how long it lasts? I have also been tested for liver cancer- thank God-negative.
I really feel that Lipitor did this- has anyone else gone from fit as a fiddle to a quivering -achy person- I have gone through 5 doctors- internal - gastrointestinal - neurologist- hematologist and all is negative- just high liver values and muscle pain. Thank you so much.Maxine

I have read many letters concerning side effects of Lipitor as I have been taking this medication for some years. I too am suffering many symptoms such as tingling in arms and legs, severe headaches, nausea, extreme lethargy and severe depression. I would like to ask if you other sufferers experience these symptoms continually or transiently. As in my case I do, very occasionally have a reasonable day with the pains slightly more bearable. 10 months ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease but I am now having serious doubts about this.

I used lipltor for about 6 months. I started to get pain in my arms and legs. My arms and legs became weak and I could barely walk up the stairs at night to go to bed and also started getting leg cramps that were vissible under the skin. It has been about a year since I stopped taking the lipitor and most of my problems went away fairly quickly after stopping. I still have pain in my legs especially the left leg. This has not gotten any better for months. Are there others who have had a similiar experiences?

I am a 69 year old female and have always been in good health and very active. I have been taking Lipitor for years and the side effects have been gradual. After my daughter gave me an article on the side effects of Lipitor, I could not believe what I was reading. I have so many of the same side effects that are in the article -- weakness in arms and legs, dizzy most days till late afternoon, my hands have become shakey and I recently have been falling a lot. My hand writing is getting worse and I can't seem to remember things. I have bad pain in neck and back and I feel fatigued almost all the time. I don't enjoy doing things I used to do as I just do not seem to have any energy. If I had my way, I would stay in bed most of the day. People that have know me for awhile say that I have not been the same person for awhile. I have an appointment with my doctor and plan on discussing all of this with her.

I am a 58 year old male diagnosed with heart failure and afib in Jan 2004. I have been taking a combination of Lipitor, Topral, Hyzaar, Pacerone and Magnesium and Potassium supplements since then. CoQ10 was added by myself since my cardiologist feels it is of little value. My body felt like it had turned to lead and my arms and legs like dead weight. My joints hurt to move. I took myself off the 80mg Lipitor two weeks ago and felt better in 24 hours. I find the Topral causes weight gain and I am a tall big fellow, but 80lbs in two years while eating like a rabbit is too much.

On Lipitor for about 10 years. Starting getting numbness in fingers and arms and upper shoulder. About the same time experienced weekness in arms and legs. Had to stop jogging as my legs were very weak. Lots of night leg cramps. Had an MRI which showed hernited cervical disk. Doctor had me go to rehab which accomplished nothering. Went to chiropractor who took more xray's and showed degenerative arthritis. She indicated she did not think the muscle deterioration was due to any of these problems and noted I had been on Lipitor. She was shocked that the doctor didnt consider this as the culprit. I stopped taking the Lipitor about a month ago. Have had no improvement. Doctors try to get me to take prednisone, mobic, and celebrex. I have refused them all and am going to check out natural cures. I am concerned about the fact that I read the muscle deterioration may not be reversible. It has even afftect the way I walk. I can hardley walk in a straight line. If ever stopped for an alcohol test I would probably be arrested for dui.

Muscle weakness, dry eyes, fatigue.
My dad has been on Lipitor for at least 3.5 yrs. He started getting muscle weakness in arms and legs and last week it had progressed to him being wheelchair bound. He was getting muscle weakness when on Lipitor and went to two Drs. which one diagnosed him with Myastemia gravis and the other with Lou Gehrings disease. He finally went to a third Dr. last week and she got him off Lipitor. Between the three Drs they had him on prednisone, mestinon etc, totalling 8 different medicines. Family members finally told the Drs to get him off all medicine except an aspirin and vitamins. He is starting to respond, not slurring speech, more movement in arms and looks much better. Hope he can get his life back.

I'm 62. I started using Lipitor April 2004.

About a month ago ... it felt like I was losing my ability to walk and climb stairs. Left leg was worse than right. Muscle and joint pain in lower back, arms and legs. Even my toes and fingers ached! Sounds strange, but the skin on my thighs became loose and flabby. My fingernails became very dry and brittle. It even was uncomfortable for me to sit for any length of time unless my feet were up.

I saw a Lipitor ad on TV last week that warned of unusual weakness. I searched the internet for more info, found the NIH site, and I stopped the Lipitor on Dec. 20. I started doing some leg exercises and feel improvement.

I'll notify my doctor of my decision to stop at my next checkup in early January.

Hi there:

I came down with an upper respiratory infection which caused me to have a tight feeling in my arms and legs for a couple of weeks. About two weeks later I started Lipitor, only 10mg. It seems to have made the weakness in my legs and arms worse. In addition, my upper legs and arms are sometimes weak. I can barely walk for more than an hour or two a day at times/ This happens especially after exercise. Exercise makes me feel good but I pay for it after. I went off Lipitor for a week and the fatigue went away. But now I'm back on it and those symptoms are worse again. My doc thinks that the symptoms are not from Liptor but fatigue from the URI. However, I am thinking the Lipitor made the muscle fatigue worse.

49 y.o male first prescribed Lipitor about 4 yrs ago. Gradually arms and legs have become stiff and painful. Walking is excruciating some days. Have great trouble sleeping because no position is comfortable. After complaining of this muscle pain for almost three yrs the physician who recommended Lipitor finally admitted that one of possible side-effects was this kind of pain. Took me off hte medication but pain not gone. Is this a permananet condition? Is there a way to notify the company of this?

I've had Fibromyalgia for a long time. The #1 thing, is to have a positive attitude. Get info. about this disease. Get moving. Start out slowly. Do what you are able to do, nothing more and nothing less. I know its hard to keep moving. But if u dont, ur stuck with no life. I've been down this road too. Get some physical therapy. I have found, for me, that pool therapy is the best. I dont have as much gravity to deal with in a swimming pool. The water seems to hold u up. Get involved in som...

Hi Guys I have been suffering from chronic daily headaches since March 2006. Have been to 4 neurologists and they all confirm that there is nothing seriously wrong with me neurologically and they put it down to stress. I have tried herbal remedies, acupuncture, body stress release, dietician, exercise, pain killers, massage, physio, posture modifying appliance, bean bags and oils, ice pack, pilates, chiropractor, daily meds like inderal and trepiline and still, nothing has been able to give me long te...

I was given the fantastic news that my body doesn't like itself anymore. I don't know when it had a falling out, but all I can say is the course of action to remedy this disease is CRAZY. Taking meds that have more side effects and the restrictions on my daily life, because of the meds, no driving, no salt, no sugar, and little fat in my diet, very little sun. Bathing in skin moisturizer, moodiness, mental confusion, can't work, but expected to continue cooking for family, and cleaning. Which I guess ...

My partner insists that he's not drunk & he's just very tired. He has slured speech, incoherent, unsteady on his feet & drops off to sleep in the blink of an eye. Could it be something other that drink related? or is he just pretending to himself he's ok?
