Lipitor and fever

I have been taking Lipitor for several years now, 40 mil. About a month ago I started having terrible shooting pains in my left hip. Within a day or so the pain had also started in the calf of my leg, like a cramp that wouldn't go away. My left calf all the way to the tip of my toes felt numb and tingly like it was asleep and it feels as though I don't have control of my leg or foot. The pain got so bad I couldn't walk. It would get better for a day or so and then come back again. It got so bad I couldn't walk, stand or sit. The only way I could get any relief was to stay in bed in one certain position. I stopped taking Lipitor on my own. It has been over a month now and I still have pain but isn't as bad most of the time. This pain is so terrible I hope writing this note will help others. I'm wondering if I will ever be normal again. I was a very active 58 year old but now I feel like a crippled 100 year old. They should take this drug off the market or at least warn people of what it will do to them.

Been going to doctors for extreme muscle weakness and pain, but no diagnosis was made. Some days I can barely function. Two weeks ago I was so weak I could not get out of bed (very abnormal for me) and when I tried to call the doctor, I began to vomit violently and they called an ambulance to rush me to the hospital. Tests there did not show anything significant, so I was sent home with antibiotics for a "slight bladder infection". I hurt worse than with the worst kind of flu, but no sign of fever. Off and on during the past weeks the pain gets so bad I can barely function. I decided to investigate side affects to various meds I am taking and have now found all these warnings for Lipitor, which I have been taking for about a year. The blood tests were all fine, but I suppose those are to determine kidney damage. Can I stop taking this immediately?!?? I cannot bear these symptoms another day......

Have been on Lipitor 10mg for about 4 weeks. Am being treated for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as well as counselling for major life changes required as a result of the trauma.

Since taking Lipitor, sleeping is in increments of one to one & a half hours (sleep deprivation is getting worse), nightmares, headaches, dizziness, sensitivity to light, frequent fever & fever like symptoms (especially when it is warm outside), violent shaking of the entire body, loss of apetite, urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, depression (severe), chest pains, racing heart, malaise, dry mouth, diarrhea, nauseated, eye hemorrage, change in taste (most things taste like sawdust), confusion and disorientation, loss of balance, feeling of deep fatigue, stomach pains, CTS flare ups (very bad), acne, problems with memory such as loss for words when speaking, anxiety.

I have always had extreme sensitivity to medications. At first, I thought the foregoing were 'anxiety attacks' somehow related to the PTSD. However, these symptoms only started to manifest, and have intensified, since taking this medication. Today I stop taking it ... the side effects are not worth it, it is enough to deal with trauma and life changes without having all of these side effects exacerbate the condition.

Sorry, this medication is causing too many issues ... just not worth it.

I started taking Lipitor at the advice of my physcician even though I had just lowered my high cholesterol to normal levels by diet alone. Go figure. He said that new studies show that people with diebetis should take it because they have an increased chance of having a heart attack. I have diabetis but is controled by diet. So I reluctantly started taking it. I took 10 mg. At first, within a week I developed a fever I could not explain. Although my doctor said that Lipitor doesn't cause fevers, the warning on the package of the prescription said to stop taking it and consult your doctor if you develop a fever after taking. Mine was getting up to 102 degrees for about 4 or five days. I quit taking Lipitor and my fevers stopped. He accused me of "non-compliance" and told me to start taking them at bedtime instead of daytime. I thought I'd try again. No fevers but, I developed a severe neck pain on the left side that felt like a tight band or chord from under my chin, where the glands are, and it progressively over a few days moved down to my underarm. It would start every morning as soon as I awoke. It felt like any small movement really strained my muscles on that side of my neck. Then around the same time, I developed a pain in my knee. I thought I was just uncomfortable from our van and not having enough room, but I never had the pain before taking Lipitor. I also at the time, developed an excruciating and dibilitating pain in my right arm. It got so severe that I could not even lift a piece of paper without it hurting. I'd fell a sensation of burning as well as muscle weakness and pain whenever I moved it just slightly. I didn't even imagine it was all from Lipitor. My salvation was that I had forgotten to take it for about 3 nights in a row and to my surprise, I stopped experiencing the pain I was having with my neck, my knee and my arm! Then I decided to see if I could find out if there were any dangers to taking Lipitor before I started taking it again, and I found this site and read all the testimonials. I am convinced now that Lipitor was causing my fevers, my pain and is a very dangerous drug. I WILL NOT take it ever again. Thanks to this site, we are all warned. fever-like symptoms(hotness)
throughout day and night which wakes me up.
I've been on lipitor for 2 & 1/2 weeks now -10 mg.
Anyone else with these symptoms?
