Checking in again. Been off the lipitor 3 weeks now. It feels good to feel better. I feel my old self coming back. I laugh sometimes. HOORAH!!! Pain in my legs 50% gone. Hips still troubling. Legs are still weak. I don't know if its from not using them much over the past 8 mo. or the poison lipitor. Still sapping life forces from my body. My life is a wreck . I can tell life is starting to get better. The only thing different, is off the lipitor. Lets get this stuff off the market. It is debilitating, painful, causes depression, to the point you are thought of as lazy, unmotivated. The pain and ache is all you can muster to deal with on a day to day basis. it is indescribable agony. I want to kick something. For the months that I have lost of happiness. Something has got to be done. There was a move awhile back to sell this stuff over the counter. What will they think of next. I am just thankful that I am feeling better. moonman

My mother started on Lipator about a year ago, she's been having shakes that last about 30 seconds in her legs and one arm. The shakes come and go and she can go a month without them but they seem to have gotten worst. She also has a hard time walking 4 out of days a week, she feels like her legs aren't under her. She is always tired and has restless leg, sometimes at night. She has respiratory problem that also seems to have gotten worst in the past year.
She is seeing a nuro but a cat scan, eeg and blood have all come back ok. Do you thing these are common problems with Lipator?

I have been on lipator about 4 years 40mg.. started having leg pain. Being me I thought being over weight was the cause. I can hardly walk 20 steps. Doctor took me off the drug after speaking loudly about the symptoms. Unable to sleep an entire night. Life seems to not exist. Depressed....lazy...constant pain....take the max amount of Excedrin every day...no relief. If I could just wake up and have one day of painless living Oh what a blessing. This is unreal. When on rare ocassions I shop at the mall. I use the shopping cart as a walker. Sit down at every available bench or chair. Used to be fairly active. Rode motorcycles, fishing, yard work. Just everyday take for granted stuff. Its awful. Only been off the drug a couple days. I will be thankful when the pain goes away. P.Ode that a drug Rx'ed can cause such devastating affect on a human being and still be on the market.

I started taking Lipitor Sept, 2006. Soon after I thought I had the flu and was really sick for about 3 weeks. I assumed the muscle pain was due to the flu. I've felt really tired, aches all over, muscle pain, horrible lower back pain (I also have 2 bulging discs but the pain is worse than it's ever been) and I can't sleep a whole night through. I wake up in the middle of the night due to pain in my hands (the joints in my fingers almost feel like there's fluid around them and it's hard to move them), or back and leg pains. For the last month the pain in the arches of my feet and heels have been getting worse, to the point that I can't walk without pain. I have to have good suppory tennis shoes on at all times to be able to walk. The aches and pains started slowly and kept adding up so I just didn't pin point any one thing as the source of my problems. When my husband watched me hobble into the kitchen tonight he told me that everything started after my physical in Sept. The only medication that was added to my daily meds was Lipitor. (the only other med I take is 1/2 of a .25 HCTZ for slight elevated bp) I am schedule an appt with my doctor ASAP but I think I will stop taking Lipitor as of tomorrow. If the pain is reduced then I will be able to report that I believe Lipitor to be the culprit.

I have taken lipator for a number of years, within the last 3 months I have had more pain in my left shoulder and arm than any pain I have ever had in my life,I was told I was told I had extensive degenertive disc desease in my neck and spine, I had a bone density test about 2 yrs ago and there was no sing of it.I was also given sinthroid abouth 4 months ago for my aches and pain in my joints and for fatigue, when I ask if the sinthorid could be iteracting with the lipator ,the doctor said it was possible, but didn't take me off of either one,I now have a frozen shoulder and am taking phyical therapy,I just at this moment thinK I will take myself off of both of these medications,Ihave a pretty big problem with my memory,I have gone from being a high energy, fun loving person to trying to figure out what to take or do for the pain.I sometimes feel like I am lost if I drive after dark.

Since taking Lipator I completely lost may balance.I couldn't walk through the house withu bumping into the walls and I couldn't walk down the sidewalk without shoving my husband to one side.
My skin is shriveling up and so dry it cracks. After one week of being off Lipitor my balance is back to normal, I suppose the other symptoms will take longer to get back to normal.
At first I was on a strict diet that I never varied from and still my chlorestrol did go down. The doctor said what I had was inherited chlorestol and would have to take medication for it.
So, What do I take?

OH man. I am so glad I found this site.
I STARTED TAKING LIPITOR A YEAR AGO. ABOUT 10 WEEKS AGO I WOKE UP WITH A BACK PAIN SO BAD I COULDN'T WALK, MY RIGHT SIDE HURT FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY RIBS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO MY LEG. i FIRST WENT TO A CHIROPRCATIC DR. HE ADJUSTED MY BACK BUT SIDE & HIP STILL HURT. SO I WENT TO MY DR WHO SAID IT'S NOT THE LIPITOR. I HAD A SONAGRAM & A CT SCAN NOTHING SHOWED. I QUIT THE LIPATOR 3 DAYS AGO. THE CHIROPRACTIC DR HAS PUT ME ON A LIVER & GALBLADDER FLUSH. I WONDER IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THE HIP,SIDE & BACK PAIN. I WONDER IF I'LL EVER BE ABLE TO WALK OR STAND WITHOUT PAIN. IT HURTS SO BAD TO LAY DOWN FOR MORE THAN A FEW HOURS, TURNING IN BED IS A REAL JOB. I'D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU. i'M 51 GRANDMOTHER OF 13.

Am quest # 4859. After months off lipator, I tried 10 mg. for
the past ten days and again started having severe leg cramping.
Have noticed blurry vision and went to opthamologist and he
said I had some irregularity around both corneas that he was
stumped at and had know explaination for. Off lipator today and with eye drop lubricant only will recheck with optho doc
in a week to see if it has cleared before going to a conrea specialist. Blurry vision seems to be helped by otc eye drops
recommended by doc. He thinks it should get better. Will keep posted. Will inform him about Lipator side effect.

I have been taking Lipator for about 2 years. I have noticed bad back aches and aches around my hips. I work in a hospital and I can't walk on the cement floors before it seems my hips want to freeze up. I can hardly make it back to my floor.
Six weeks ago I had my cholestrol checked and it was high. My boyfriend ask me to give him 4 weeks and he would have it down to normal. He had me take Flaxseed oil with Omega 3. 2 pills in the morning. 4 weeks later I had it checked again. It went from 376 to 204 and Trigleserides(sorry for bad spelling) went from 375 to 296. Good Cholesterol was 47. I stopped taking Lipator and am starting to feel better after 1 week. I highly recommend Omega 3 Flaxseed Oil.

I have been on Liparor for nine months ( 10 mg) , approx 4moths ago I started getting severe muscle spasms in between my shoulder blades but mostly in the area at the base of my neck and in the left shoulder blade area.
Also my left foot on the ball of the foot and near the toes I devloped swelling in those areas with some slight burning sensation. Lots of cramping in me left lower leg area and now I notice I have some problems with my left knee.
I just quit taking the lipator about 5 days ago, I hope to see some impeovement. If anyone knows of anything that will counter react this please advise.

65 year old female highly energetic with super brain functions.
Taken 20 mg lipator for 1.5-2years and definately noticed short term memory loss. Also had severe leg muscle cramps
like charlie horse in upper thighs, totaly excruciating pain. Stopped lipator for six weeks and cholesteral shot up to 290
but I feel great and energetic. Doc wants me to go back on
and recheck blood in 7 weeks. Will try 20mg every other day
and not let him know until blood results, otherwise I'm off it for good. I would rather die at 80 with a good functioning brain, then 100 like a zombie.Doc also said memory loss atributed to getting older and I said bull crap. I'm fine now and workiing full time as I was before even though things were not as sharp to me as now without the lipator. Will advise.
