I did not suspect Lipitor as the cause for my shoulder pain and rash on my leg. I've been taking Lipitor for couple of years and over time both my shoulders were so painful that the doctors (2) said I had inflammation and possible muscle tears. Put me on antiinflammatory pills and eventually gave me cortisone shots in both shoulders. During this time I continued to take Lipitor. I went on a 2 week vacation to Mexico and forgot to take the Lipitor with me and I didn't have a prescription to get more in Mexico (legally) so I did without. Magically during my second week without Lipitor, my pain started to subside in both shoulders and the rash eased up. I have been off Lipitor for 1 month now and my shoulders are almost back to normal and rash has stayed away. I am convinced it is the side effects from Lipitor. I encourage all to see their doctors regarding going on another form of Statin. I myself have started taking some liquid glucosamine (with condroitin, MSM, and Colegen) that I got at Costco, Vitamin E, and Fish Oil capsules. Not sure about my cholesterol but the pain is almost all gone and improving daily. Good luck to all who are dealing with the side effects of Lipitor. This is my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Hi,

I was on 10 mg of Lipitor and seemed ok which I was on for about 2 months. Then my doctor increased the dosage to 20 mg., shortly after that I had such a severe red and itchy rash on both of my eyelids. So itchy and painful, at times I felt like pulling my eyes out. I went to a skin doctor, an allergist, and eye doctor. I changed my make up, changed laundry detergent. None of this helped. Then I started thinking back on when this rash started and it was about the time my doctor increased the dosage of the lipitor. I finally just took myself off of it. I was in pain like this for 2 months, I thought I would go out of my mind with the itching. It took about 3 weeks after I stopped taking the Lipitor before the systems started to disappear. Just wanted to share this info with everyone. I hope this helps anyone that may be having similar problems.

Bad red, itchy, bumpy rash on both forearms. Also, very itchy scalp and general itchy and dry feeling skin. I have never had this before. I have been taking Lipitor for about 6 months.

I am a 28 year old female who was put on Lipitor about three months ago. Since then I have been exhausted and have a had what appears to be a rash on my chin for weeks that won't go away. Most recently bruises have appeared on my breast and lower abdomen & have experienced shooting pains on my right side. After reading a few posts I think this could all be a result of the lipitor. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms?
