Like Bill, I am searching for an answer as to how to relieve the pain that still continues after being off Lipitor for 7 months. I now have pain in arms as well as hips and legs and even my fingers. are swollen, stiff and painfulI. I got a long acting cortisone shot today and hopefully it will help for awhile. I was on for 3 years and cpk was elevated slightly so doctor finally listened to my complaints and took me off. Has anyone finally gotten relief over a period of time. I would like to hope so.

Very stiff and sore neck, very tired.
All of this talk about lipitor....I am having real problems, and have just now discovered it is caused by lipitor! How I wish I had found your site sooner.
My real problem is triglycerides....lipitor has brough them down from in the 1100 range to a lower but still too high.
I am convinced that lipitor is hurting me very much....but what can I do to control my triglyceride problem. I am taking 1 tab of lecithin daily, and now will start 3000 ml of vit c. What if it all gets out of control again. Help

I have been on Lipitor for about two years. I am extremely stiff particularly my knees. I have been to a rhumatologist who injected my knees with cortizone and synvisc. Neither seemed to help. I walk with great difficulty and have to be extremely careful when going up or down stairs or just walking on flat surfaces. I just saw an orthopedic surgeon who recommended I go for physical therapy. Has anyone else suffered with these symtons?

I am a 63 year old female who has taken Lipitor for 3 years. Since I have arthritis in my right knee, I dismissed symptoms starting last summer in my thumb. I had pain and gripping problems, very difficult to lift anything. By first of October my left knee became involved. Had minor popping in my ankle and left knee until I turned over in bed one night and felt big pop in my knee. Knee was sore and within about two weeks stiffness started in both knees - so stiff after sitting that I have to stand for a few minutes before walking. The stiffness in my knees became painful and then my left hip developed sharp pain and some discomfort in my back. Walked very slowly and stiffly, difficult to get out of car, put on panty hose, step in and out of shower , or lie on left side. Started taking more ibuprofen and aleve, using a tensunit, and applying heat to both knees. Had some improvement but on December 9, notice my left leg was quite swollen from knee down to ankle. Called doc who said to quit taking Lipitor to see if that was problem. Will be 3 weeks this Friday since I quit taking Lipitor and I am experiencing a lot less stiffness in my knees, less pain in my hip, but my left leg is still somewhat swollen. I will see doc January 26 and get his verdict.

I am 63 years old and have been on Lipitor 3 years. Since I have arthritis in my right knee, I dismissed symptoms starting last summer in my thumb which by October involved my left knee, increased problems in my right knee, and left hip and back. This finally became so stiff and painful I could hardly walk across the room. I have to stand for a few minutes when I first get up before walking and am so stiff I walk with an unsteady gait. I also tended to trip over nonexistant things on the carpet. I have had a few experiences with vertigo. I started doing some leg strengthening exercises, using a tens unit, applying heat to my knees, and taking a lot of ibuprofen and/or aleve. I finally mentioned this to my internist and he said to discontinue the Lipitor and it could take 5 to 6 weeks for it to get out of my system. It has been 1-1/2 weeks since I discontinued the Lipitor and don't know if I have improved ever so slightly or it is just my imagination. I have an apointment with my internist Jan 26 to evaluate the situation. I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced improvement and what was their time frame for improvement.

Well, let's hope it is the Zocor, left leg, left arm weakness, no pain, neck aches and stiffness and tingling in neck, funny twitching in calves, burning and just different neurological symptoms. First, they thought stroke, previous heart surgery 8 months ago. Been on Zocor for 8 months. Now, MS or tumor or differential diagonosis, no answers. Have stopped Zocor for 2 weeks, strength has came back neck is still stiff. We will see, pray for us. 42 years old.

Ihave been taking 20 mg Lipitor for 3 years and have noticed loss of feeling in the ends of my toes. This loss is now extending to all my toes and my ankles are getting stiff. I have trouble standing if I have squatted down and from time to time have difficulty swallowing. Some times , particularly when out in the wind, I have great difficulty breathing and now carry an asthma spray. Is all this due to Lipitor.??? By the way I sometimes hit the wall when walking and have to be careful going down stairs. I also suffer from gas and constipation.(61 years, female, tennis player)

I have been on Lipotor for several years. I am almost 60 years of age, It is easy at my age to put "changes" in your physical being down to "old" age. Could some or all of these changes be symptons of Lipitor damage?
Gradually I seem to be losing the ability to walk. My legs feel as if they are encased in cement. Getting up from bed or a chair, I stumble around until my muscles seem to get moving. Sometimes I seem to get vibrating spasms in my legs.
My whole body has become stiff. I walk from side to side with my arms bent like a wooden soldier. I have lost my elasticity of movement. My wife looking at me walking has wondered what is wrong with me.
Stepping up onto a step ladder one step at a time, I feel like my legs are too weak to handle my body weight. I thought it was due to my increased weight. I had not considered that it was a breakdown of muscle caused by Lipitor. I continue to go to the gym and do not think that my eating habits have changed but I seem to be putting on more weight.
I had a bit of arthritis in my knees before Lipitor but it did not stop me from running for miles. Now I find if I walk on the treadmill for a mile or two that I am stiff and sore all day. I live with joint pain, muscle ache and a weakness in my legs that makes getting up a real struggle. I put this down to having put on weight but maybe I am putting on weight because of Lipitor and that is causing the problem.
I now seem to have a perpetual nasal infection which I have been putting down to the smog. My skin is so dry, at times, it hurts but I was putting it down to the dryness of central heating in winter. I too have floaters in my eyes but have been told they are common at my age whether I was on Lipitor or not. Sometimes my vision is so blurry I have geat difficulty reading.
I am also taking Cozaar, Allopurinol and Gen-Doxazosin.
I am looking at this web site because I am worried. I will now see my doctor.

49 y.o male first prescribed Lipitor about 4 yrs ago. Gradually arms and legs have become stiff and painful. Walking is excruciating some days. Have great trouble sleeping because no position is comfortable. After complaining of this muscle pain for almost three yrs the physician who recommended Lipitor finally admitted that one of possible side-effects was this kind of pain. Took me off hte medication but pain not gone. Is this a permananet condition? Is there a way to notify the company of this?

I was put on Lipitor because of a one time spike in my Trigliceride. It was only 10mg for three weeks. Within a week my ankles were stiff and my feet heavy. I had cramps/pain in the legs. Within a couple of weeks, I had pain in all my joints and muscles, especially my legs. It has now been a year, and I've have been told that if I don't stop the process, I may not make it. All of my muscles have atrophied to the point that I can hardly walk. My spine is no longer being supported my my muscles so I have three torn disks. No one will address that problem because the muscles are not strong enough to undergo even the most minor procedure. In addition, my hips have seperated as though I had been in an accident. The only accident was taking Lipitor. I am desperate to find some help. Time is running out. I am already on CoQ10 and Fish Oil. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would greatly be appreciated. I have been to California with no help. Please, please, please. I will do whatever necessary to stop this horrific illness. It is beyond my imagination how they can get away with passing these drugs out like candy. Help, Dianne

I have been taking Lipitor for several years. All of a sudden I am experiencing knee/leg pain and neck pain. My friend told me her husband had such leg cramps and could hardley walk, just like I am experiencing. She mentioned that he quit taking Lipitor and this righted itself within a couple of weeks. Anyone else have an experience such as this? I plan on stopping Lipitor tomorrow. At this point, I can barely walk and my leg and knee or so stiff and sore.

I am a 47 year old female and started using Lipitor (10 mg) about 4 weeks ago. In the last two weeks, I have been experiencing numbness, pain and weakness in my extremities. The numbness and pain is excruciating from my neck to the tips of my fingers on my left side. I am also weak and my muscles ache throughout my entire body. My joints hurt and are extremely stiff from my feet to my shoulders and I was so tired yesterday (November 26, 2007) that I could not go to work. I was about ready to go to the emergency room today thinking I have some undiagnosed illness, but since reading the side effects of others, I am calling my Doctor to inform him of my problems and I have am refraining from taking anymore Lipitor. I just want to know if the symptoms will go away after the medication is completely out of my system.
