I've been on Lisinopril for about a year and a half now. I thought some of my side effects were just my bad health - tingling in my hands and arms and legs and feet. I've been in ER a time or two in fear of heart attack and they cannot usually find anything particularly wrong with me or my heart. I thought since my blood pressure was down, that this medicine was a life saver. I had no idea these side effects could be from the medicine. Especially since they were pretty mild and sporadic originally and only in the past few months have they seemed to increase almost daily. Also I had to get an ultrasound for my enlarged uterus and I believe the pressure I feel (I had no pressure just a few months ago) is due to the increased side effects of this drug. My concern is this, how do you safely wean yourself off of this junk once you've been on for years. I don't want to even take any more bp medicine - hbp will eventually kill me but feeling daily like I'm going to die at only 36 is not worth living a long life if these symptoms are all I have to look forward to. Save my heart, but give me neurological disorders? I don't think so.

Husband taking 10mg. He is having dizziness, confusion, memory lapse, depression, short-temper, severe leg cramps, chills, loss of appetite, constipation and severe stomach cramps. We are discontinuing this medication. He thinks it's literally killing him like being poisoned.

I took 20 mg of Lisinopril and experienced skin flushing the first day. Mostly on my arms, neck and face. Has anyone else noticed this symptom?

I had been on Lisinopril for about 5 weeks, first on 40 mg. then I reduced it in half on my own, and have now decided to stop entirely and go back on Avapro. When I started it, I developed flu like symptoms and I thought I was just sick, but my body continued to fill "unwell". I had such terrible vertigo that I fell down 3 times and would get very dizzy when sitting up or bending over. Sometimes, the vertigo comes when I am sitting perfectly still! I became constipated and bloated with bouts of gas, headaches and sore throat in the evenings. My arms and legs were falling asleep during the night, so bad that I had to wake up and massage my hands and move my legs to get them circulating. Also, leg cramps have developed and cramps and shoulder pain that doesn't want to go away.I started to have to urinate all the time, as well! When I went to the doctor's office after being on it for 3 weeks, I complained that I was feeling awful (like I was going to die), depression had set in, I want to sleep all the time and have terrible vertigo, I was told that these were unusual symptoms and to try it for a few more weeks and see if these symptoms subside! Typical!!! It is thru researching blogs like these that I found that my symptoms are not at all unusual, but they are VERY ALARMING! I am a 46 year old woman and am healthy in every way. This medicine makes me feel as if I am being poisoned! I went off of it yesterday and am now doing an herbal cleanse to detox myself. I am also on fish peptides - which lowered my bp substantially in the past, but needed to find a reliable source that keeps it in stock all the time. It is safe and has no side effects.

I started taking Lisinopril about 10 months ago and now I have had severe redness and heat in my face, neck, and chest. I have constant headaches and my eyes are bloodshot most the time now. I have quick sharp pains throughout my chest arms and legs/feet a lot. I get blurry vision and disorientation every time after taking this stuff.. My heart rate varies from high to low but it feels like my blood is extremely thick no matter if I eat or not, I also get extreme nausea after eating even a salad with no dressing. I hate this stuff so much and it scares me to no end. I have major anxiety disorders anyway but this crap makes it worse. I think I am dying everyday its so nerve wrecking and I am only 25yrs old!!!! I recently stopped taking this junk for about a week but still took my Xanax for my anxiety and my face and neck aren't hot at all most the time anymore only when I move around and work a lot but not bad at all. My heart rate is normal and my blood pressure is staying about the same but maybe bout 8 or 9 notches lower than when i was on this stuff. I think someone is really going to get hurt on this stuff and we are all going to see a commercial on TV saying to call a lawyer for cash rewards because of med induced illness or even deaths... I'm going to the doctor and telling them to give me the most expensive effective and less side effect BP med..

WOW!! I can't tell you how glad I am to have found this site and learned about all the side effects from lisinopril. I've been on lisinopril since about January of this year...12.5 mg. Been back to see the doc 3X since i've been on it. I complained about chest pain and coughing. I've had EKG done on me 3X (including the one done recently when I checked my self in at the ER at 2:30am) also did the treadmill stress test. I've also been referred to and did see a pulmonary specialist where they checked my lung capacity/function due to the shortness of breath. I've been friggin joggin' 7 days a week for 3 months (used to do 3X/wk) to combat the fatigue, shortness of breath, tickly & scratchy throat causing me to cough to try to clear it, tingly arms and legs, chest pain (kinda like pressure or cramping, real discomfort)...and yes, i feel like my days are numbered. It's been such a life altering experience. I'm stopping lisinopril starting today. I hope the chest pain will get better. Will post again in a few days and let you all know how I feel. Thank you all again for taking the time to post your experiences. God bless!

I have been on Lisinopril 20 mg since
February. After a few weeks I kept waking up every morning around 5 am and felt my heartbeat all over the place, like I just had run a marathon. After 4 weeks, this subsided. Then I started hearing weird sounds in my head like a church bell ringing in the distance, this was going on along with waking up for the past two weeks every morning at 4 am with a rapid heart beat, a creepy sensation going up my arms and legs and getting cold. On top of that I was getting very anxious and shaky. My doctor seems to think I suffer from anxiety attacks and put me on Zoloft. I also start getting out of breath just bending down, tieing my shoes and I feel tired and shaky all the time. In the beginning I had the cough, that has subsided but I seem to develop all these other side effects. After reading all these emails, I will stop my medication tomorrow and see what happens. I might try the apple cider vinegar approach. By the way, my blood pressure went down to 92 to 55 most of the time and my doctors thought, that was great! I was under the impression the bp to shoot for was 120 over 80.

I have been taking lisinopril for about four months and my doctor increased my meds to 20mg from 10mg. Everything was fine except the tiredness so I take it at night before bed or I could not stay awake during the day. Then I wole up with numb feet one morning and just thought it was nothing as i get swelling when the weather gets warm. well the numbness is still there two weeks later. It is very uncomfortable and is moving up my legs and my arms and legs feel very tired and weak. Last night I counted the pills remaining from the last prescription refill and sure enough the amount left coinsides with the last refill, which by the way is a different manufacturer because the pills are a different color, shape and size. I went to the doctor this week and am waiting for the blood test results. I should know today. I am active and walk five days a week and work out at the Y three times a week. Has anyone else had funny feet problems?

I have severe itching, with dark rash spots on most of the body, with nervousness, panic attacks and weakness in the arms and legs, and flu symptoms. I take have been taking 20 mg once a day for about 10 years. Previously taking zestril, I had to change because of insurance costs, and have had these symptoms almost from the start. I was told by the pharmacy that zestril and lisinopril were the exact same ingredients, so I thought I was allergic to something else. The itching is now so severe, I have purple spots and scars on most of my body. I finally went to the dermotoligist and he did a biopsy, which reveiled the allergy to lisinopril.

Another drug getting flushed here. At least this one was cheap. I have had only 3 doses and now have the dry cough, stomach cramps, and a hot tingling sensation in my arms and legs. I always try to research a drug first and read complaints on and then form my own opinion but there are A LOT of pages to read on just this one drug alone. It is scary to think these are just the people that have taken the time to post! How many more are out there having symptoms?

I am taking 20mgs. of Lisinopril and had no effects for the first 84 days. My blood pressure has come down dramatically. It went from 200/110 to 128/74. Not bad !! However, on day 85, I walked across a parking lot with a piece of cardboard over my head for about 600 feet, to protect myself from the rain. I got into work and sat down at my computer and about one-half hour later I got extremely dizzy and started to faint. I got down on the floor and my arms and legs went numb, almost like my circulation system was shutting down. I thought I was going to black out and go into cardiac arrest. They rushed me to the hospital and checked me out all day. They did EKG's and checked my heart enzymes. All Good. Then I was given a stress test, which also checked out Good. I still felt rather weak, but was released anyway. The same event happened 8 days later, after cutting my dosage down to 10mgs. I was moving some pallets, holding them over my head again, and experienced another event very similar. It took about 1/2 hour to pass and for me to regain my composure. I think holding my arms over my head has either fluctuated my blood pressure, or I am cutting off the circulation up in the neck area. I have had a severe neck ache lately on the back right-side. The benefits outweigh the risks as far as my blood pressure, but if I pass out swimming, driving, trimming tree branches, etc and kill myself, it is of no longer a benefit. SO, I'M WARNING ALL OF YOU OUT THERE, TO TAKE HEED, AND BE CAREFUL WITH THE ACTIVITIES YOU PARTICIPATE IN. DELAY CERTAIN THINGS UNTIL YOU ARE OFF OF THIS MEDICATION, BUT DON'T STOP ON YOUR OWN. ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR PRIMARY PHYSICIAN FIRST.

My husband has been taking lisinopril for one month. He is complaining of extreme weakness in his arms and legs and at times it is so bad that he feels like he cannot lift them. This drug has also caused impotence and the doctor who prescribed this is totally unconcerned.

I have been taking lisinopril for 3 months. A slight cough stated about 2 to 3 weeks after I started taking the drug and I thought, I can live with this because my blood pressure was coming down. This drug was to supplement the blood pressure drug I was already taking..the Dr wanted my blood pressure lower. For the past 2 weeks the coughing has been getting worse and worse to the point of almost throwing up...I have a water bottle in my hand at all times...Also, I have another side effect that no one else has stated...My arms and legs start itching and will break out in what appears to be a rash, even my feet. I have decided to stop taking the drug and will contact my Dr tomorrow and let him know. I will continue with my other blood pressure meds, including the water pill..make sure my diet is good and start walking more..the exercise is the best you can do...has anyone else had the itching?

Hi
-- By theradekin4 | Reply | (2) replies | Send Private MailMy husband has been prescribed 2 different blood pressure meds Lisionpril and metoprolol back in June. Come mid July he started to have trouble sleeping and slight tingling in hands and feet. Then it progressed to the arms and legs and then the face and chest. We have seen cardiologist, neurologist, sleep apnea doctors, Had EKG, MRI, Heart sonograms, Nerve test done due to the symptoms. Everything came back normal. He is miserable. The burning and pain is unbearable to wear he wants to cut his feet off and the only thing we keep hearing is well LETS DO ANOTHER TEST or TRY THIS MED. So now he is taking a a sleep med for insomnia and some seizure med for the nerve pain, thinking he may have neuropathy. This is going on 2 months now of trial and error and after reading 20 minutes of experiences, I THINK ITS THE MED!!!!!!!
What do we do then? He had high blood pressure so what meds are good with no side affects of burning or insomnia? Any suggestions or help would be of great appreciation. Thank you!!!
