hello, patches here. Just to update my previous posting. Having stopped taking lisinopril over the past couple of weeks i now have no bloating and can wear rings again as my fingers are slimmer and my tummy is no longer solid bloat, the black tarry loose stools also have stopped but i still have bouts of urticaria from time to time. I wonder if anyone knows how long it takes to get this poison out of the system. Also i got chest pains from the amlodipine and the doctor conducted an ecg and blood test which both came back ok so it must have been the amlodipine. She has now given me candesartan but i have not started to take it yet as she said to wait until after the Christmas break in case i had a bad reaction when there were no doctors at the surgery. I can't believe i am the only one suffering this way and would like to hear from others and maybe someone can give me positive feedback. My blood pressure has gone up as i am not on any medication. Yesterday i felt very ill indeed - dizzy and panicky and later on had a bad rash on my arm and back of neck. today is slightly better so wonder, again, if i had a virus or if it is still the effects of the lisinopril. if anyone can advise i would be so grateful. many thanks.

I am on the lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide combined pill. I take two a day, which is 40 mg of lisinopril and 50 mg of hydrochlorothiazide. I have been on the medication for about a year, but about a month ago I started experiencing horrible nausea and a bad taste in my mouth. I also had very bad dizzy spells, to the point I nearly fell down several times. I went to my medical practitioner, who is an FNMP, and she said I had ear wax and that was what was causing the problems. Cleaned out my ears, pronounced me well and sent me home. I don't think she really listened to me, because I work in the medical field and never in my life had I heard of ear wax causing vertigo, dizziness, and profound nausea. Maybe an ear disorder. At any rate, I stopped the medicine and all the symptoms disappeared within a few days. I went to see my neurologist yesterday and my BP was 162./102. I told him about the problem with my BP medication and he told me to go home and immediately take the medication and call the doctor Monday to get the medicine changed. So I went home, took only one pill, and the symptoms immediately returned. I will just have to die of a stroke between now and Monday because I am never taking this medication again. Why don't medical practitioners listen?

I was put on Lisinopril (10 mg) back in August for my diabetes. My blood pressure is very normal without medication. About a month or so later I developed a urinary tract infection, something I have never had before, which was followed by severe, migraine-like headaches along with sinus pressure around my eyes. I also felt very anemic. My doctor(s) attributed the headaches to a degenerative disc in my neck. After five weeks of these daily headache bouts, I stopped the Lisinopril when my chiropractor insisted it was the blood pressure medication that was causing the headaches. The headaches subsided within a week.

Doctor prescribed Lisinopril along with Metformin about a year ago , he told me the lisinopril will help protect my kidneys from the diabetes along with reducing my high blood pressure. I started with cramping and shaking which left me bed ridden for days! I blamed the metformin, thinking it was reducing my bodys sugar level. In this time I started having these pulsating, center of chest, waves of severe hot pain, I went to his office and he put me on an EKG machiene. Everything was fine. I have these bouts every so often, along with lip numbness and severe pain that feels like my right arm is caving in with muscle spasms, my veins stick out in the effected arm along with a numb cold feeling!(goose bumps too?). My physician told me it may be GERD.He put me on protonics which helped for a while, but it is back! I also get edgy, have trouble staying asleep and walk around like a zombie in a fog all day long. I started getting strobe light migraines without the pain recently, wondering if anyone else has had these symptoms from Lisinopril? By the way my blood sugar is in control. Also on allopurinol with no problems.

I am a very anxious person, so that could be causing my symptom, which is gagging. No nausea (until the gagging bouts send me to the toilet, but nothing happens, just spit). Took this drug in the past with no problems, but was taking (stopped on my own four days ago) a higher dosage this time. The gagging is disruptive, for sure, and I can never tell when it will strike, although so far it hasn't happened in social occasions. Usually when I'm walking and a breeze hits, or when I'm looking down at the computer on my lap. Feels like the back of my mouth, the uvula area, is swollen. I've never had this problem before.

Here is a follow up- I have been off of the Lisinopril now for about 6 days. I am slowly feeling better and getting energy back. I still have some residual muscle burning, bouts of fatigue, bouts of depression. The shortness of breath is getting better also.
The irregular heartbeat is almost gone and the cough is now only occasional.
I have been taking vitamins such as vitamin c, multivitamin and drinking lots of water.
My memory and loss of words is getting better also.
I am forcing myself to exercise and lose weight. This med almost killed me.
I just pray that I don't have any permanent damage.
Also significant is the symptoms got worse when they were manufactured bu IVAX.

I am so glad I found this web site-I really thought I must be dying, I feel like crap. I was diagnosed with hbp, borderline, but also diagnosed diabetic at the same time, dr gave me metformin, simvastatin (for cholesterol) and the lisinopril, i was told they all work together and are prescribed together, well i never felt so horrible i have been taking them since the end of May, I have a dry tickle cough that mostly happens when i'm laying down at night but get some coughing bouts that bring tears to my eyes. I have this horrible left front neck pain i thought was a sore throat, but it doesn't hurt to swallow -just pain and pressure like a constant dull toothache. i have a headache and sinus ache that feels like pressure that doesn't ease up even with Tylenol, i took motrin one day & the pain went away but my feet swelled up. now i have had a pain in my right kidney (back) for the last 2 weeks and i can hardly walk when i rise. I get cramping in my fingers and toes. I am very short tempered and have depression to-so many side effects in such a short time---July 14 i have a doctor appointment, but i'm not taking anymore after today.

I have been in Lisinopril for about a month. I have a dry cough that keeps me awake at night, headache, fatigue and lightheadedness. My doctor refuses to believe the cough is from the Lisinopril. He said I have not taken in long enough for it to be side effects. He keeps increasing the dosage from 5mg then 10 now 30mg my blood pressure continues to climb averaging 150/100 not dropping below 140/90 and spiking to 177/118.My doctor is not concerned and says come back in 2 months. I am calling him tomorrow and if he doesn't change my med. I will stop Lisinopril and find a new doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had been on Lisinopril for about 5 weeks, first on 40 mg. then I reduced it in half on my own, and have now decided to stop entirely and go back on Avapro. When I started it, I developed flu like symptoms and I thought I was just sick, but my body continued to fill "unwell". I had such terrible vertigo that I fell down 3 times and would get very dizzy when sitting up or bending over. Sometimes, the vertigo comes when I am sitting perfectly still! I became constipated and bloated with bouts of gas, headaches and sore throat in the evenings. My arms and legs were falling asleep during the night, so bad that I had to wake up and massage my hands and move my legs to get them circulating. Also, leg cramps have developed and cramps and shoulder pain that doesn't want to go away.I started to have to urinate all the time, as well! When I went to the doctor's office after being on it for 3 weeks, I complained that I was feeling awful (like I was going to die), depression had set in, I want to sleep all the time and have terrible vertigo, I was told that these were unusual symptoms and to try it for a few more weeks and see if these symptoms subside! Typical!!! It is thru researching blogs like these that I found that my symptoms are not at all unusual, but they are VERY ALARMING! I am a 46 year old woman and am healthy in every way. This medicine makes me feel as if I am being poisoned! I went off of it yesterday and am now doing an herbal cleanse to detox myself. I am also on fish peptides - which lowered my bp substantially in the past, but needed to find a reliable source that keeps it in stock all the time. It is safe and has no side effects.

I am a 44 year old woman and have been taking lisinopril for about one month for high blood pressure. I have also been taking ritalin for 14 months for hypersomnia. Within a week after starting the lisinopril I started having several adverse reactions. The first one I noticed was fatigue. I switched from taking it in the morning to taking it at night, but it has not helped. I also wake up several time at night. My hands and forearms are frequently numb and feel tight and sometimes burn and turn red. I have an increased incidence of raynaud's syndrome. I also have heart palpitations. The worst symptom by far is increased anxiety and severe depression. I have been searching the web for 3 weeks for any information that lisinopril may cause depression and this is the first site I found that mentioned it. I see my doctor next week and will request he find me another medication that will not react adversely with the ritalin.
