Husband taking 10mg. He is having dizziness, confusion, memory lapse, depression, short-temper, severe leg cramps, chills, loss of appetite, constipation and severe stomach cramps. We are discontinuing this medication. He thinks it's literally killing him like being poisoned.

I went over to Lisinopril when I transfered insurance carriers recently. The new carrier was going to charge the max allowed for using Altace and Lisinopril is way cheaper. So I went back to Lisinopril and have been on it for about a month. When I first tried it many months ago I had a sick gall bladder that has now been removed. The side effects at that time include a rash on my chin, burning urine and crotch area. Within two days of stopping, the symptoms were gone. Since I don't have the gall bladder problem I decide to try it again to save money (ha). After a week I notice my BP was increasing. I was taking 10 mg so I went up to 20 mg of Lisinopril and that didn't work - my BP kept going up! I keep talking more of the stuff and my BP keeps going up. This morning I took 40 mg and my PB was 200/90 and I suddenly thought it's the meds as there is no reason in the world that my BP should be going up crazily like this. Then I found this side and several folks mentioned their BP had gone UP. No more Lisinopril for me. I'm so glad I found this site! Thanks all for being independent thinkers and sharing your stories!

I have been on Lisinopril 20mg.for 4 years now. At first I just noticed fatigue and a lack of motivation to do things. A year later, I started having chest pain, fast pulse up to 130/min. and activity intolerance especially after meals. I went to my Dr. and he put me on a beta blocker to lower my pulse. At first it worked and I felt slightly better. Now I have all these symptoms again together plus I have gained 22 pounds from the activity intolerance and the beta blockers. I went to my Dr. this week and told him I am going off the Lisinopril with or with out his help. He reluctantly agreed and lowered my dose.It is very important to wean off this med and not stop taking it suddenly.I am weaning off the beta blockers too. He has given me HCTZ to assist to lower my B/P while I wean and to help lose weight which I am motivated to do. Wish me luck!

Doctor prescribed 10 mg. Lisinopril four months ago for borderline HBP. Since then I have suffered from an itchy rash, chest and shoulder pain , extreme fatigue , low concentration and memory loss , a dry cough so annoying that I live on cough drops and a strange feeling in my throat like a lump is always there , and most recently I have developed pain and swelling in the lymph nodes under my armpits. I also have dizzy spells so bad that I have almost fainted a couple of times. Once it was so bad that I could not even get out of bed. I am convinced that it is the Lisinopril because I did not have these problems before I started taking it. I am going to stop taking this poison and see a Naturopathic Practitioner. I have recently read that fish peptides also called bonito peptides have been used successfully in treating HBP and is a safe and natural alternative to those Pharma drugs that cause so much misery. I will keep you posted.

I am 37. My BP was around 160/95. My Dr put me on Lisinopril 10mg daily. My BP became normal almost immediately. I have been on it for over a year now and here is what I have noticed. I am CONSTANTLY tired and dizzy. Any thought of walking anywhere of any distance is horrifying because of the fear of collapse. I sleep over 10 hrs a night only to wake up exhausted. I am so sick of being tired. I just want to sleep my life away. This is no way to live. I am depressed all of the time. I can't even shop anywhere because of the anxiety which comes with it. i.e. numbness in arms, rapid pulse, faintness, hyper ventalation and just pure panic for no reason whatsoever. I can't control it. When I sleep, my fingers and hands fall completely asleep. They are dead. It wakes me up numerous times every night. I can't get good rest. I stopped taking Lisinopril a week ago. My BP is below normal now. My pulse is around 55 at all times. I have never had joint pain, just extreme fatigue. God willing, I won't have to take this med again, or any med. I forgot how I used to feel. I wasn't always like this.

I was first diagnosed with hypertension in the late 80's and have been on several different medications to treat it. I think that Lisinopril is the worst that I have been on. I have extreme fatigue and severe dry and burning mouth, sore tongue and difficulty breathing and flu like symptoms. I have anxiety and PTSD so my symptoms have been blamed on that. With all these symptoms,
I sometimes wonder if it would be better off to have the hypertension.
Sometimes my mouth and throat is so dry and sore, I can't eat and I have difficulty breathing which is not addressed with asthma medication. Daytime symptoms are bad at night but when night time comes, it is almost impossible to sleep.
I would be interested if anyone has these symptoms and would like to hear from you.

I had been taking lisinopril for a few years with no apparent effects but last summer began waking with extreme fatigue and slight nausea. I also developed spiking blood pressure but that was stopped by adding a beta blocker. I have vivid dreams and often wake feeling worn out from the dreams. The fatigue is severe and accompanied by depression and anxiety. I also wake feeling hot in face and torso and have intolerance for heat.My dose is 40 mg and has controlled my BP until recently when I have had a couple high readings, possibly due to anxiety. I also had a couple of remissions when I felt OK fro a coule weeks, but the symptoms recurred..

I was prescribed lisinopril after I underwent open heart surgery for aortic valve replacement last July. Initially I was on 40mg, and was successively reduced to 5mg, which is where I am now. Basically, my dosage would be lowered after I would start to complain about side effects (dizziness, fatigue...), which my cardiologist would attribute to my recovery -- i.e. my blood pressure would stabilize, hence the higher dosage would lower it too much). Well, now I'm down to 5mg, and I feel worse than ever. I'm dizzy all the time, I have severe aches in my joints -- particularly in my knees and elbows, stiffness in my hands, pain in my feet, extreme fatigue, weakness in my arms, shortness of breath, and mild chest pains. My cardiologist maintains that it's not the lisinopril, yet after running full bloods, my primary doctor can't find a single thing wrong with me. I tried getting off the lisinopril for a little over a week, but I didn't feel any better. So, my question is this: does anyone else feel as crappy as I do, and how long does it take to get this drug out of your system? I'm only 34 yrs old, I'm not overweight or otherwise out of shape, and this is really affecting my ability to work and to spend quality time with my wife and 10 month old son. Ugh.

I have been taking Lisinopril (5mg) daily along with atenolol (25mg) daily more than three years ago. I had a host of sysmptoms such as extreme fatigue, itching, shortness of breath, dizziness, numb fingers, etc. My doctor put me on this regiment after i had to stents put in my heart. I didn't have a bp problem. I had a coleterol problem, but she said i would need to be on these meds fo the rest of my life. I was ruched to hospital when i couldn't get my breath. I was told i was suffering from depression and anxiety and put on Clonazepam and Citalopram. This only added to my fatigue and i have had sexual side affects to boot now. Before i took Lisinopril i was playing softball and spending time with my children. Now all i want to do is sleep and no matter how much sleep i get it is not enough. I want my life back!!! After reading your posts i have decided to stop taking all the meds and hopefully find the person i once was. Thank you all for opening my eyes. I am not crazy after all.

I am a 50yr old female... was prescribed Lisinopril 10mg for bp.. after a few weeks I started getting a funny hard to explain feeling with my heart beating a certain way.. don't know how to explain it.. fluttering maybe.. feel it pounding. So after I realized it could be this pill I stopped it.. I moved out of state from my dr... and not ins. yet.. however I watch my bp and when it got alittle higher I thought I will take 1/2 one.. which takes BP down to normal, but after doing this here and there.. that same feeling in my heart started..
Has anyone experienced this feeling?? I don't seem to have the other side effects Thank God.. but this one scares me as I don't see anyone mentioning this feeilng..

I have been taking lisinopril for 3 years. My cardiologist believed I had a virus that attacked my heart. He prescribed lisinopril for my hbp. It has worked to lower my bp but I am experiencing all or at least a majority of the symptoms that everyone is complaining about. I have on multiple occasions stopped taking the medication but experience extreme exhaustion to the point that I can not function. I did not notice anyone having a problem stopping the medication. Please if you have any information let me know my Dr. does not believe me. Thanks.

June 4 I almost fail out in a store and I thought my vertigo had returned. Rushed to the jospital and my blood pressure was 195/95 and they said it was due to stress. I am currently taking Lisinopril and I feel crapy and tired all the time. Plus they gave me Xanax for anxiety. I do not know how long I can continue this medication. My head hurts, I have tingling in my right arm and of course I have a cough I though was due to sinus problems. We take medication to help us not to make us feel worse.

I started taking Lisinopril for my bp about 2 1/2 months ago and even though it did lower my bp, I started having strange side-effects. It started out with drowsiness throughout the day, no matter how much sleep I got. And, waking up feeling drowsy even after 8-10 hours of sleep. Then, I started getting strange aches and pains throughout my body, like I was getting over a stomach flu. My asthma also flared up and I started having to use my inhaler for the first time in almost 15 years (usually I just need it after exercise.) The side-effects continued to get worse over the next months with increased fatigue, drowsiness, coughing, anxiety, muscle aches, poor concentration, feeling like my nerves were "shot," headache, weakness, tightness in my lungs, numbness in my hands and feet, and just plain feeling bad.
I made an appointment to see my doctor because I thought there was something seriously wrong with me. It crossed my mind that I might be feeling this way because of the Lisinopril. I stumbled across this website and after reading everyone's testimonials, I decided to stop the Lisinopril. I haven't taken it in 3 1/2 days, and I am already feeling much better. I would rather try a more holistic approach to lowering my bp then taking Lisinopril.
I hope this helps someone else out there who might be going through the same thing.

How long does the fatigue and weakness last after switching off Lisinopril. My dad was on it less then a month and he started suffereing from extreme fatigue and lightheadedness. He's been off it now for a week or two and still seems to be suffering from these side effects. They've switched him to a different low blood pressure med now.

I have just called my dr. for an appt. I was not researching Lisinopril I was looking for info to email someone - happened to spot the first post...I nearly fell over! I now know I am not losing my mind, because that's how I've been feeling - the cough, the weary feeling, palps, my anxiety increase, etc. etc. Low readings that I'm wondering if I'm still alive, and this head detached from my body,, feeling, sort of walking like a well in control drunk, if that makes sense to anyone, a feeling like "iI'm gonna have a stroke" feeling in my head...it feels "tights". I started this med. last year, and feel this has been a gradual on-coming train! I have anxiety, and try to keep it under control myself, since I took prosac for about a week, talk about looney - look up another charming side affect - akethesia - nasty. For one poster who said we're all overweight nuts, I am 103lbs, I do a mile every evening, and eat very healthy, thank you.

My doctor prescribed Lisinopril 20/25 in 2003 when my bp was 180/110. In September of 2006, I experienced a full blown panic attack. It was shortly after I had my left knee replaced in August. After this panic experience, I never seemed to recover from anxiety, and heart palpitations that were so crazy that I told my husband that I felt like I had just run a race. I experienced these palpitations every day and when they started, I started getting anxious. I thought that I was having these sensations because I was weak from the surgery. I experienced lightheadedness, and extreme fatigue, and blamed everything except the Lisinopril. My appetite has been poor and I force myself to eat only because I have to in order to survive Also, after the September panic attack, I felt like I was disconnected from reality - like someone posted earlier, a feeling like I was not all there. Awful feeling! A few months before these feelings, my present doctor (not the one who had prescribed the Lisinopril) told me to cut the Lisinopril in half because my bp was quite low. I did that but I still had the palpitations, etc. I never for one minute thought the Lisinopril was the culprit. Then about two months ago, I had a blood draw and it came up with a high level of potassium. It seemed at first that the lab had made a mistake, however, in a recent draw, I not only had an elevated level of potassium, but the calcium was elevated as well. My doctor called and told me to stop the Lisinopril. This is when I began to search the web for side effects, etc. Like a dumbbell, I never thought to question the Lisinopril. I have been off it three days now and the palpitations have lessened, however, I am still not back to my normal self but I hope that these effects will eventually go away. I have total empathy for all of the folks out there who have suffered these horrible, debilatating side effects.

I don't know for sure it is the lisinopril. I am on other meds as well. I don't sleep too well, but haven't for a long time and never had this depth of fatigue.

I am an otherwise healthy, fit 50 year old male with mild hypertension (typical reading 140/95). Was put on Lisinopril following an atrial flutter episode. While my BP was lowered (typical reading 125/83), I experienced extreme fatigue and dizziness - felt horrible, like I had been poisoned. With my cardiologist's consent, after 2 weeks I stopped and switched to Cozaar. After 3 days, I feel vastly improved. BP readings are a little higher - 125/93 this AM. I do not know if Cozaar will ultimately have side effects, but cannot imagine they are worse than Lisinopril, at least for me.

Mom is 80 and was always a go getter. Now her life has been in shambles with taking the Lisinopril. This drug is made from Brazilian poisonous snake venom. Hard to believe that this is being out to treat folks. Anyway, Mom went down after three months on this stuff. Her mind was always good and her memory sharp until her Physician put her on this stuff. Now, her hands go numb, mainly at night. Her breathing is hard and extreme fatigue. We almost lost her last week from a spike in her blood pressure, she was still on the Lisinopril by the way. 911 was called and they worked to get her blood pressure down. She was hauled to the hospital twice. The doctor could not find a thing. Ha ha. They never once thought to take her off the Lisinopril, even though it showed no effectiveness against the blood pressure spikes. She is scared to get off this mess. They now have upped the dose double and put her on an additional blood pressure patch, dizzy pills and an anti anxiety drug. All this due to this venom that she is ingesting. Has anyone had stroke like symptoms with this medicine? Also, her hands go numb and she cannot sleep. She has had hallucinations of people sitting and talking during the night. What a terrible thing for the FDA to approve!

I am so glad I found this site. Since I have been on Lisinopril 5mg, I have experienced extreme fatigue, sweating, left side of my neck is sore and my left eyeball was swelling and I am getting floaties and little spider like webbs, sometimes itching of the eyes. I also have gained weight and have been so bloated I could not wear some of my clothes. I went to my eye doctor about my eye situation, he did all the tests necessary and could not find anything wrong with the eye, other than the swelling, he suggested sinus problems and referred me to my primary doctor. The primary doctor could find nothing wrong with my sinuses and referred me to the eye doctor!!!!!. I am drowsy a lot and just plain have no energy. The problems with my eye started when the doctor upped the dose from 5 to 10 mg. I have ringing in my ears to go along with everthing else. Of all the above I had none until I started on this rx. I was beginning to think I was on a downhill trip until I found this site. I cut the dosage from 10 to five and the swelling in the eye and the sinus pressure decreased. I will insist on being put on another rx for my b/p or I just will not take it,

I have taken Lisinopril for a long time. Not sure when it came into the market, but seems like I been on them a few years. I been taking blood pressure meds for about 10 years. I am 53. Not sure when I was switched to Lisinopril. I have fought most the symptons that are on this website. I have never connected it with Lisino and neither have my doctors, even at Mayo Clinic. I always check out healthy as a horse, except, they write this off to having Fibromyalgia. I have had long periods of time when I did feel I could "catch my breath" It's like the feeling of holding your breath in, till you need to really breath badly. So you breath, and that feeling seems to stay to a large degree. Extreme Fatigue, walking 100 feet and back sometimes. Dry cough or clearing Phlem all the time. Dizzy for like, 3 years now, weakness in legs, pain in legs even in the morning. They carry a burning with them like if you were working out, but it burns like that if you just walk a short distance. Bad insomnia, so freaking tired, but the sleep button just doesnt kick in. Sometimes totally exacerbating as far as the fatigue is concerned. Do not know if its connected, but can tolerate the soap isle in the grocery store, I can just feel it suck any energy out of me. Hot flashes, ear aches..not infections, they just seemed to stay slightly inflammed. Lots of stiffness in neck and shoulders, and lots of just skin pain, across my back. So for years I have been fighting this fatigue and pain and we will see if it's connected to Lisino or not. Let me add also, when the fatigue is greater so is the brain fog and/or lethergy. Lots of headaches. I was feeling so weak not long ago, I thought it might be MS. But Dr. Said MS is not painful, and my legs, especially thighs, and hip joints hurt a lot. If this is caused by taking Lisino, I would have to say, I am about 10% of the man I used to me, Physically. Might as well throw a sexual activity report in here. All the plumbing works fine, it just the concern if that's where I want the energy to go for the rest of the day. Sometimes and physical excertion, the best way to describe it, it like an exahusting "flare", It will kick your butt and put in bed. Like, hmmm, think I will move the couch over there...bammm. Okay, I am done. I just wanted to be a bit detailed, it might help others out. If it is Lisino, I am sure it will take several weeks for me to get it off and out of my system, but I will write back. I hope this may help someone else out there.

I wanted to find out if others had the same EXTREME fatigue when taking Lisinopril. I was relieved to find that my tireness had more to do with Lisinopril than my overall health. I've noticed that when I stop taking Lisinopril my energy level returns to a high rate and I am happier and more agreeable (my normal self). With Lisinopril, I was almost like in a depression state. I have an appointment with my PCP in a week to discuss the alternatives. Thanks to everyone who has shared their story to keep us all healthy and happy.

THANKS EVERYONE for your input. My NEW Dr. switched my B/P med. to Lisinopril several months ago. He said it was a great med. and it was better than what I was already taking. I have been feeling terrible, experiencing:
Severe coughing causing vomiting at times
Hair loss
Back pain
Neck pain
Constant bad lingering headaches the time (got one RIGHT now)
EXTREME fatigue
Can't hardly sleep due to coughing all night
I have been having to RUN to the bathroom at night to muffle my coughs or vomit, because I am constantly waking my baby coughing so hard. I am sooo glad I finally did this research. NO MORE LISINOPRIL FOR ME!!!!!!!!!

I have been on lisinopril, 10 mg., for about six weeks now. Two days after initiating treatment, I noticed that my tongue had a white coating. I have never before been bothered with thrush or other oral oddities until now. Now I don't know if one is related to the other or not, but it's strange with the timing. I also want to add that I, too, have had that dry, tickling, unrelenting cough...especially bothersome at night time. No one in my household can sleep. Also, over the last 2 days I have began crying at the drop of a hat, for no good reason. Extreme fatigue, dizziness also. As of this A.M., I am off this med. Good luck to all.

I took Lisinopril for a month. I developed a cough--thought at first that it was bronchitis but I didn't have other symptoms. I had been exhausted and miserable but didn't really connect that with the medication because I was under some major stress at work. Finally connected all the dots and called my doctor. Thank heavens he listened to me and got me off the Lisinopril. Because my bronchial tubes were inflammed by all the coughing, he put me on Qvar for a month. I have been off the Lisinopril since the first of May. The cough (which sounded like major bronchitis) lasted into June. I still cough once in a while. I no longer get home from work and go to bed. My energy levels are returning slowly. If I overdo, I am miserable for several days. There are days (thankfully more and more) where I really feel good--no aching muscles, extreme fatigue, and general feeling of malaise. One down side--my eyes were affected by the Lisinopril. The upside--they are getting better, too. It takes time to get over all of the damage caused. I figure, from all of the postings, that I got off lucky because my doctor listened to me.

Hello, fellow sufferers,
I was given a prescription for lisinopril about six weeks ago. I had gone for an employment physical, and my blood pressure was very elevated. I panicked, and went strait to my doctor, who put me on a trial of lisonopril. Luckily, I only took it for two weeks, but I've experienced, and continue to experience, many (most?) of the symptoms registered here.
The first to appear were floaters. The morning after I took my first dose, very large, dark floaters appeared in my vision. Most of them slowly "dissolved" over the next hours, but they reappear from time to time, and one in the lower left corner (when I'm looking straight ahead) has remained all this time. It flies into my vision field when I move my eyes when reading, etc.
The next to appear was the cough. Coincidentally, I went out of town to a conference the day after starting the medication. The conference was in Washington, DC, the weather was hot outside, but the meeting rooms were freezing, and so I thought I caught a cold. However, I was not congested, didn't have a sore throat, and the cold didn't progress. Also, I am a healer (Reiki Master) and I'm quite good at fending off colds and such, or at least getting rid of it quickly if a cold does manifest. I couldn't budge this cough, which continued to get worse each day.
The next symptom was extreme fatigue. I could hardly get myself and my small amount of luggage onto the train to get home. I had to have my husband meet me at the train depot even though I had planned to take local public transportation to get the rest of the way home.
In the next days, I stated to experience a "foggy brain." I felt like I was drugged, and couldn't function. I wouldn't dare drive, and I couldn't work. The cough continued to worsen, and it kept me up all night. The last two days I took the drug, I also developed congestion (which continues). I also had a rash, which cleared up quickly in a day or two.
The next thing that manifested was extreme muscle weakness. I work out with a personal trainer, and on my last visit to her I had to give up early because I just couldn't make my muscles work. When I got home, I was so fatigued and foggy I had to lie down and sleep for a couple of hours. I'm normally a high energy person, so this, I think, distressed me more than anything else.
That same night, my friend, Linda, invited my husband and I to her home for dessert, but I told her I just couldn't get myself together to go out. I told her what I had been experiencing, and she asked the big question--"Are you taking any new drugs?" I told her about my high blood pressure and the Lisinopril. She told me that she experienced something similar a year ago, and that it was her blood pressure medication that was to blame. Thank Goddess for Linda!!
The next day I went to the doctor and told him this medication was making me sick. He agreed that the cough could be due to the lisinopril, but said he didn't think any of the other symptoms could be blamed on it. Oh, yeah? He wanted to put my on another drug, but I said "No way. I'm controlling my bp through diet and exercise," and he agreed to let me try. He said not to expect spectacular results.
The next weekend was Linda's wedding--I was the photographer. I did manage to get through the wedding with the help of a lot of cough drops and nose blowing. I got some great shots and didn't ruin key moments with my hacking cough.
The cough continued, with the congestion, but the lethargy and fogginess have abated, but had not entirely disappeared. I tend to get winded climbing the stairs I used to run up. A new twist was added--I seemed to have developed sensitivity to everything: pollen, dust, smoke, mold, my cats.
My husband and I had scheduled our vacation to Maine, and we decided to go, thinking that if I got away from my house and the cats, I might improve. That didn't happen--we were near the ocean, but there are a lot of plantings along the ocean in Maine, expecially goldenrod, which made me miserable. I was extremely congested, and my sinuses got infected and my ears filled with fluid.
When I got back from vacation, back to the doctor. My sinuses were so inflamed, he put me on cortisone and an antibiotic. The corisone got rid of the inflammation of the sinuses, but didn't help the ears. The cough was only occasional, too. However, the cortisone also gave me insomnia, and I began to get leg cramps. The cortisone was given in decreasing dosage--six tablets the first day, five the next, etc. to one on the last day. As the dosage went down, the insomnia disappear, but the cough started to return.
As I finished with the drugs, my doctor was away, and, being an alternative healer, I decided to try another alternative healer. My sister is away, so I decided to take her appointments with her AMMA therapist. AMMA is an Asian message healing modality. The therapist also did cranio-sacral and lymphatic drainage with me. I'd feel better after each treatment, but rebounded worse each time. Last treatment was two days ago, and I decided not to go back, but to take back control of this thing. Since my ears are STILL clogged and I can't hear very well, I also returned to my physician to see what he suggested. His suggest was a 12-day course of prednosone. I that doesn't work, he's going to refer me to an ear, nose and throat doctor to have my ears drained surgically, and perhaps have tubes put in. Today's the third day, and I think the fluid is reduced but not eliminated. The cough is worse. It feels deeper in my chest, and it is unproductive. I worked on myself with Reiki a lot yesterday to clear my lungs. I was pretty good last night, but I'm coughing again today (dry heaves as well). I think I might try Mucinex to make the cough productive. I have to check to see if it's okay to use it with the prednosone.
The sensitivities do seem to be getting better. The cats, at least, don't seem to bother me, but mold is still a problem. I think my air conditioning might be contributing--there's standing water in the drip pan, so the drip line must be clogged. I'll bet there mold or mildew in the system, but I can't get anyone in to fix it and clean it out until Tuesday. I've turned the AC off, but I'm sure my husband will be switching it back on when he gets home from work since it's in the 90's. (He doesn't get it). I've also eliminated dairy, orange juice and tomato products from my diet since they produce mucus.
I hope to post of my improvement soon. Positive thinking helps! I promise not to be so long next time.

I started taking Lisinopril about three months ago. I already have been taking Metroprolol, HCTZ, Paxil and Avandia. The Lisinopril gave me swollen, red, watery eyes; a persistent cough that gets so bad I puke; tightness in the chest and shortness of breath and extreme fatigue. My doctor keeps telling me it's all in my head, but I know it's not, I feel a lot worse than I did so I'm changing doctors. There has to be a better alternative.
In reading through everyone's posts, I feel better about my side effects, but it's really SAD that the doctors all think it's in our heads!

Switched from Zestril to Lisinopril in Jan 2004 - Starting in February have had incredibly severe leg crams eleven times; numbness and tingling in arms a couple of times; extreme fatigue; dizziness and light headedness, large weight gain. Numerous medical tests have not revealed cause. Visited a dietician today to discuss weight gain, and she immediately connected my syptoms as a possible side effect to Lisinopril, and suggested I discuss the possibility with my doctor. Internet research indicates many others have similar symptoms from Lisinopril.

I've taken 5 mg of lisinopril for about 10 years now. Recently I started experiencing shortness of breath and irregular heartbeats after climbing just a few stairs. Previously, my only sympton was extreme fatigue and lack of sexual desires. After having several tests for the heart and breathing problems (which were all negative), I was prescribed 10 mg per day (my blood pressure was in the high range). This has helped lower my blood pressure but all the other symptons, as mentioned, are still there. It's comforting to know it's not just me experiencing these same problem. I'm only 56 years old and in relately good shape except for the blood pressure problem.

I have been taking Lisiniprol for 6 weeks. I have lost 15 pounds. Had diahrrea for 3 weeks. Experienced extreme fatigue and slept most of the day. Loss of appetite and queasy stomach all the time. My blood pressure dropped significantly.
I printed out all the side effects on this website and brought them to my doctor who took me off this medication. Since then I have not had diahrrea, have gained a couple of pounds and feel alot more energetic-a real turnaround and in only a few days.
Thank you for having this website...it probably saved my life.

I started taking 10 mg. of Lisinopril on July 8, 2008. At first, I experienced extreme fatigue and weakness. However, this wore off after a few days. The dosage was increased to 20 mg. on July 21, 2008. I started having horrible symptoms on July 29, 2008: rapid pulse (as high as 118 b.p.m. while I was quietly reading), heaviness in my chest (which felt worse after I exercised), and shortness of breath. I had never felt so bad before in my entire life!!! I suffered with these symptoms until August 15, 2008 because I was hoping that they were just temporary. Unfortunately, they only got worse the longer that I waited. It is such a shame, too, because Lisinopril really did a good job of keeping my b.p. down.
This is the third day that I haven't taken Lisinopril, and I am feeling a little better. I am now on Metoprolol, which is helping with my rapid pulse. For those of you who experienced breathing problems while taking Lisinopril: How long did it take before your breathing returned to normal?
