I have been on Lisinopril for about 10 months. I have really not felt well the whole time and have developed some side effects that i have gotten use to and just lived with and couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I had fatigue, problems concentrating, headaches, chest pain, blurred vision, body aches and overall didn't feel like doing anything. I also noticed a small rash on my stomach/chest when i would get out of the shower but figured it must have been soap or something. I even tried not using soap and it would still be there. Friends and family started telling me I never feel good etc. So about 3 weeks ago I got really sick with diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, chest pains etc. Kept thinking i had a virus or something. A few times i was so sick I layed on the floor wondering what is wrong with me. Finally got into my doctor today and he also said it was a virus. A few people said they thought i was my blood pressure pills including my chiropractor. The doctor ran a sleu of tests today and i should get the results tomorrow. I have also had itching all over my body and a vaginal infection so i thought that would not go away. From reading all of this I realize everything is a reaction to the medication and I did not take a dose tonight but 2 benadryl instead. I always noticed throughout this that i always felt better towards the evening of course because that was when my medication was due. I will not be taking anymore of this and I am not happy that so many people are being given this everyday without any knowledge. Thank goodness people are responding and telling their stories so we don't think we are going crazy and hopefully feel better and maybe save a life!

HI, I am a 56 year old woman with elevated BP. I was put on Lisinopril/Hctz about a year ago. I am not exactly sure when the cough started, since I am an asthmatic and have trouble with coughing already, but this cough is different and much worse than my asthma coughing. I like many others on here cough in the night and mornings until I vomit, cough up fluids, gag and can't breath. The cough was so bad on Friday I broke the blood vessels in my face, the coughing spell lasted for 30 minutes. It was just yesterday that I looked at the Warning for this medication as I picked up my refill on Friday. There on the warning was dry cough. So I looked on this site and there was my answer...most of you described exactly my symptoms....I feel so much better now that I think I know what has caused it, since my doctor was chalking it up to the asthma. I have emailed him with my new info, and hope that he will change my medication ASAP. I also have researched cronic fatigue sys....because I am always tired and unable to get anything done.....I was never like this before. Good luck to the rest of you, thanks for sharing or I would never know that this medication could cause all my problems.

Do any of you take Lisinopril by itself without a diuretic like HCTZ (hydrocortothiazide)? I got dehydrated 2 days ago & doctor has cut my HCTZ in half-- I felt light-headed, dizzy, pounding heartbeat like I was having a panic attack. I've been on this lisinopril/hctz combo for 3 months. I don't have any of the adverse allergic reactions (rash, itchiness, swelling) at all; nor do I have the cough thing at all. But weakness, chest-pounding heart, dizziness, fatigue all coming now daily. I wonder if our problem is the HCTZ, so is anybody on lisinopril WITHOUT HCTZ?

Doctor just changed my prescription from Atenolol to Lisinopril. After 2nd, 3rd day of taking it, I developed the cough in the middle of the night. He said that this was one of the side effects, so, I wasn't too concerned. But then, after another couple of days, started feeling the dizziness, nausea, lack of appetite, and the FATIGUE! Decided to call him after taking 6 of those pills, to tell him about my concerns. He said to stop taking it. Prescribed Diovan now. Still feel like I've been run over by a truck, but
SO happy to have found this web site. I hate that so many others have been affected by all of these symptoms, and, affected for so long. Just made me feel somewhat better that I was not the only one feeling this same way. I thought I was losing it.

I took Diovan HCT for years without any side effects. We must do mail order with our health insurance and the providers website said that Lisinopril was an alternative to the Diovan that was available as a generic and therefore a lower cost. I spoke with my Dr. about it and she advised me of the "cough" and said it wasn't exactly the same but since I wanted to save as much money on scripts as I could I tried the Lisinopril. I took it for a couple of months and noticed being more fatigued and weak. Finally I got to the point where I was feeling like I was hungover 24x7 and started looking to see if there was any side effects from this different med I was taking and saw all the symptoms I was having from fatigue to palpitations to nausea to muscle weakness and cough. I went back to the Dr. and got back on Diovan and everything is much better now. My wife was on this medicine too for a while and she noticed the same thing but didn't put it together with the medicine. There should be some kind of advisory with this stuff or it should be taken off the market.

Here is a follow up- I have been off of the Lisinopril now for about 6 days. I am slowly feeling better and getting energy back. I still have some residual muscle burning, bouts of fatigue, bouts of depression. The shortness of breath is getting better also.
The irregular heartbeat is almost gone and the cough is now only occasional.
I have been taking vitamins such as vitamin c, multivitamin and drinking lots of water.
My memory and loss of words is getting better also.
I am forcing myself to exercise and lose weight. This med almost killed me.
I just pray that I don't have any permanent damage.
Also significant is the symptoms got worse when they were manufactured bu IVAX.

Well, my first posting didn't take for some reason. I have been taking L. for about 5 weeks. I had thought that I had developed a full allergy and had begun suffering from early menopause until I read these other entries. The hacking gagging cough and clear mucus from lungs?throat . The fatigue is constant and the depression is to tears about twice a week for no known reason. I didn't have these symptoms when I was on Benicar. Guess what I'm switching back to.?!!

I am actually crying as I had no idea what was wrong with me. I have been on Lisionopril now for about 5 years at 40 mg/day.
During those five years I have been fatigued, suffered with GERD, dry cough. Of course my doc said to lose weight.
Last month I went on a diet and all hell broke loose. I lost 25 lbs and I don't know if the weight loss released all of those Lisionopril toxins or what but here goes:
Fatique, weakness, arm and leg muscle pain, absolutely no sex drive, rib cage pain, back pain, perceived shortness of breath. Heart palpitations, dry cough with mucus. I have a lump in my throat. It got so bad I went to the ER , they drew labs and my BP was elevated. They added labetalol to the lisinopril. I came across this site and I called my doctor and I told him that I wasn't taking lisinopril anymore. I feel as if I am having a slow death. I cant function, I cant work, I am panicky and nervous.
He said to monitor my pressure with 2x/day with the Labetalol.
I was on the maximum dose and I wonder how long will it take for this poison to leave my body. I can't believe what this medicine is made from. I am more than willing to lose weight and do anything to stop taking these poisons. I would love to hear your experiences. I need all the support that I can get.
I just don't understand the sudden exacerbation of all of the symptoms unless it is the weight loss. But my BP never went down even with the weight loss.

I have been taking 20mg of Lisinopril and 5mg of Felodipine for about a year now, and I am experiencing excruciating joint pain. The back of my knees ache even while sitting and the bottom of my right foot keeps me from walking freely because it hurts so much. My wrists and fingers hurt too. I am overweight, so I just figured it was due to excess weight, but reading these posts made me realize that this is not normal. I am in pain all day long. I feel like I'm going crazy because I can't just get up and go- I struggle to do anything. I did not want to see my doctor because I've switched medicines before- used to take 50mg of atenolol but fatigue was horrible, so doc gave me hydrochlorothiazide and it gave me a terrible rash on my face. I thought I was done switching meds- does anyone know what is a good bp medicine? I'm tired of being tired and in pain.

About 1 1/2 years ago my allergist recommended I switch BPM from Lisinopril to Atacand because of congestion problems associated with Lisinopril. I made the switch and had no problems with Atacand other than my co-pay was considerably higher. Because of this I asked my family practice MD to switch me back to Lisinopril because I remembered it worked okay. However this time - a couple of days after the first dose of Lisinopril I developed flu-like symptoms (aching, congestion, fatigue). I thought I was coming down with the flu AGAIN. After about three days I started having chest pain, a headache that wouldn't go away, blurred vision, dizziness, shortness of breath, very shaky, weakness, couldn't sleep. I thought I was on the verge of a heart attack at times. The fatigue and weakness worsened. I often felt that I couldn't get off the couch or out of bed. My legs felt like weights. It wasn't until I checked out the side effects on this website and read the comments of other users of the drug that I realized what was most likely happening. Needless to say, I called my doctor and asked to be switched back to Atacand. I'm more than willing to pay the extra $'s to feel better.

I have been on Lisinopril 20mg.for 4 years now. At first I just noticed fatigue and a lack of motivation to do things. A year later, I started having chest pain, fast pulse up to 130/min. and activity intolerance especially after meals. I went to my Dr. and he put me on a beta blocker to lower my pulse. At first it worked and I felt slightly better. Now I have all these symptoms again together plus I have gained 22 pounds from the activity intolerance and the beta blockers. I went to my Dr. this week and told him I am going off the Lisinopril with or with out his help. He reluctantly agreed and lowered my dose.It is very important to wean off this med and not stop taking it suddenly.I am weaning off the beta blockers too. He has given me HCTZ to assist to lower my B/P while I wean and to help lose weight which I am motivated to do. Wish me luck!

Am I the only one who has gained a lot of weight while on Lisinopril? I have gained over 40lbs in 3 years. I have also experienced odd muscle cramping and have never made a connection to this and Lisinopril. The pain in my ear, side of my head, and my jaw was unbelievable. ENT dr thought it was TMJ or nerve damage. He was not able to really pin down the exact cause. One month later I was bed ridden with severe back pain, which I have never had before. MRI showed nothing. Headaches are daily, cough, leg cramps, chest pain, decreased sex drive, and definitely have feelings of depression. I have never made the connection between the changes in my personality, health, and lifestyle to this medicine; but now I have. I will be immediately contacting my doctor to discuss alternatives. My BP when I started was 150/90 and now is 112/70. Please let me know if anyone has also had the weight gain like I have experienced. I know I am going to have to have hard facts to show to my doctor. Thank you.

I'm in shock realization. I truly believed I was just defective. Constantly thinking "Something is terribly wrong with me"
All the same side effects. Dreading the onset of summer as my heat sensitivity has become so intense I panic because I feel like I can't breathe. I lived 10yrs in Palm Springs prior, now at the beach! Spent 9,000 on Air Conditioning.
So much fatigue, I'm on high doses of Provigil, & Adderall to just feel only somewhat tired vs. completely catatonic! WOW!

I have been in Lisinopril for about a month. I have a dry cough that keeps me awake at night, headache, fatigue and lightheadedness. My doctor refuses to believe the cough is from the Lisinopril. He said I have not taken in long enough for it to be side effects. He keeps increasing the dosage from 5mg then 10 now 30mg my blood pressure continues to climb averaging 150/100 not dropping below 140/90 and spiking to 177/118.My doctor is not concerned and says come back in 2 months. I am calling him tomorrow and if he doesn't change my med. I will stop Lisinopril and find a new doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I originally posted on 3/16/08. I visited the Dr. on Monday about problems with 40 mg Lisinopril such as shortness of breath, slight dizziness, fatigue. He said that I "need" to be on this medicine and that if I feel that the 40 mg is too much, to cut them in half and see how I do and come back in 30 days. I really feel like he is an honest and caring Dr. so I;m going to follow his advice and see how it goes. Any thoughts?

I stopped taking lisinopril for a week now. It was my own decision. I've had it for only three weeks. I thought this was a miracle drug for me coz it really worked for me the very first day I took it and it was really easy on the pocket considering I don't have an insurance. My reading was in the 90+/70+. I was really happy w/ my BP for a while.
Currently, I am trying to observe my body if some of the symptoms I've had (which others have also mentioned here) are just my imagination/due to my paranoia or are really side effects of this drug. I've had mild dry cough especially at night (well I thought it was because of the dry air here in Vegas), nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss, dizziness (especially if i stand up from a sitting or lying position which at one point almost made me faint), weakness/fatigue, pain in the shoulder, numbness in the left toes at first then on the day before i last took it, the numbness started creeping up into my left foot and calf. That last symptom really worried me the most coz I thought I was gonna have a stroke or something. When I checked my bp it was way too low 88/64! I thought my monitor was broke or something coz at first it's always making an error. I guess my BP was too abnormal for it.
Tomorrow, I'm planning on calling my doctor to report my symptoms, observations and probably share what I've read on this forum. I was on avapro before my doctor switched me to this one coz after my pregnancy, it doesn't seem to be working on me for a while. I guess I would suggest to him to put me back on avapro and will try to have a better/healthier lifestyle i.e., regular exercise, more fruits and vegetables, less sodium, more fluid intake, good sleeping pattern and better outlook in life for better stress management.
Btw, many thanks to this site and to all who posted their side effects. This somehow gave me some reassurance that I'm not going' crazy about what I've been feeling while taking this drug. Felt like I'm taking a 'killing me softly drug' after all.

I was just prescribed lisinopril a few weeks ago, for HBP, my pressure was always low but, I recently had a malfunctioned defibrillator change and my BP went very high, so the MD put me on lisinopril. I have been on it for about a month now, but the only symptoms I have been getting is severe fatigue, sleeping a lot and very thirsty. Are some of the symptoms putting on weight, I don't want that, and I did or have not had a bad cough. But sleeping is bad and very tired all the time. Should I ask my MD to change my meds? I did have 2 heart attacks and two by pass surgeries, l4 years ago one in 93 and one in 99. Then my heart weakened and I came down with arrhythmias after passing out. They inserted a pacemaker/def. thanks to medtronic after the pacemaker and def. were recalled I had to get another one, but if this drug is causing everyone a lot of problems I don't want to take it. I do get up a lot during the night (constantly going to the bathroom) due to thirst and am constantly tired I am 51,and came down with this disease (it is a childhood disease and have had it since I was l9), but it is a scary one, heart problems. They never ran in my family. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am going to get my blood taken on Tuesday to see if this Lisipril is working or not. Thanks for anyone help, I really need it on this new drug. Thank you.

My doctor (PA, actually) prescribed Lisinopril a few weeks ago because I'm diabetic and she said it would help protect my kidneys as well as lower my moderately-high blood pressure. Things went well for a couple of weeks, but the past few days have been unbearable. Not much of a cough, but I feel terribly weak, exhausted, and I can hardly think at all--am very confused, and can barely write this note (strange for a professional writer, eh?). I also have trouble walking, am quite dizzy and out of breath, and have severe muscle cramps; feels almost like my nervous system is shutting down. And truly, I feel like it could kill me. I was grateful to read all of your comments; makes me know that I'm not alone. I will have to discontinue this medication, as I simply cannot function while using it. (I'm a 62-year-old female, by the way.) Thanks again for your comments, and I wish you all luck and happiness.

I am 51 year old female. I have been having similar side effects that everyone is posting. The cough just started. And I am having cramps in my legs and back that I never had before. I also have been a little depressed. I just stopped taking the medicine yesterday. I am at a place called Optimal Health Institute. They put you on raw veggies and juice and fruits and nothing else for a week to 3 weeks or as long as you would like to be here. Also mild exercises to help you cleanse and you juice wheat grass 2 times a day. I decided to go off my meds yesterday (been taking 10mg for about 4 months) and my blood pressure reading just registered 119/78. It has been running 135/85 with medicine average. I just started but after reading all of these posts and my own side effects, I am definitely going off this junk. I hope this cleansing works. I am going to be here for 2 weeks.

I developed hbp during pregnancy with my first child, after delivery the bp continued to stay up for about four months and then it went back down to a safe level. Six yrs later I became pregnant with my second child and my bp spiked again. Once again, after delivery, my bp went even higher. I tried a calcium channel blocker which gave me SEVERE headaches and then was put on a beta blocker. The beta blocker had no side effects but my bp was still out of control. My GP tried me on Lisinopril 10 mg in November 07. Since then I have had abdominal pain, loss of concentration, fatigue, leg and arm pain and numbness that is slowly worsening, dry, hacking cough, loss of sleep, strange thoughts of losing family members, etc....When I spoke to my GP about these new symptoms, I was told I have reflux, even though I never get heartburn and get this...POST PARTUM DEPRESSION! Oh, I am so sick of the "D" word. I never have thoughts of hurting myself or my kids, not to mention, I'm the happiest person I know. I'm really convinced now that these symptoms are all due to the Lisinopril b/c it all started around that time. The cough can be so embarrassing. I work in health care and will start hacking in the middle of an exam with a patient. It comes off as really unprofessional and it bothers me a lot. I see him next week and will discuss this with him. I am kind of discouraged b/c my bp is totally out of control w/o meds and this is the second one that has caused major side effects that has actually helped my b/p.

I was experiencing these symptoms when I went to my doctor Before! taking Lisinopril : Headache in morning and night, occasional nausea and hacking cough, dizziness and blurred vision, muscle aches, depression, fatigue. I was afraid I will seriously ill. Since I have been on Lisinopril for five days now. I experienced the sore throat and chest pain but it is minor compared to the rest of my symptoms I had before I started taking it. I am also taking Crestor for high cholesterol. I feel much better, I do notice I wake up when the medication in my system runs out but go right back to sleep and I sleep better at night. I wonder if having the symptoms that Lisinopril gives you before taking it made this a different experience for me. Because I am frankly surprised by reading the other posts on this site.

I started Lisinopril 3 days ago and have already experienced unwanted symptoms. The feeling if increased fatigue is definitely there, a dizzying sensation, sort of like a euphoric high is hanging around. While I don't have insomnia, I have noticed a change in my behavior- my aggression level has decreased dramatically. This might be a good thing, however at the same time, it feels like I'm weighed down, definitely not myself. After reading the horror stories here, I'm probably gonna take myself off it. I'd rather lower my Blood Pressure the natural way than pump more medication into my body...

I noticed within days that it had an effect on my behavior such that I found usual emotional aggravations (like being cut off while driving) suddenly did not bother me. I subsequently found out that lisinopril binds to Testosterone and mine was low to begin with and with the lisinopril effect I had a really low testosterone requiring supplementation.
I started taking Lisinopril about a year ago. I have had no cough or joint pain, but fatigue is severe, even if I get enough sleep. Some afternoons I find it almost impossible to stay awake. I will repost some time after stopping it.

I am a 53 years old female diagnosed with diabetis for about 5 years, now. Currently, I take 1500 mg of metformin to treat the diabetis. A year ago this month, my bp went up to 164/88. That's when my doctor put me on 5 mg of lisnopril. The 5 mg dosage brought my bp down to about 140/84, it never went down to 120/80, even after using for one year. I can say that since I've been on this medication, I have been extremely fatigue. Several times I told my doctor about the tireness and that I thought it was due to the Lisinopril. She just sort of disregarded my complaint. She said that what I was feeling was due to menopause and the diabetis. About three weeks ago my bp went up to 171/88, so she decided that it was time to increase the dosage to 10 mg and to put me on hormone replacement therapy to reduce the fatigue. I told her that I didn't want the 10 mg of Lisinopril because I believed my fatigue was due to it. She insisted that it was best for me and that HRT would help.
Well, what I've done was decrease the dosage to about 2.5 mg on my own. And what I notice was that my energy level seems to be returning. I been feeling better and my goal is to start taking the 2.5 mg every other day until I can completely stop taking this stuff.
Today, I noticed that my arms felt a little heavy like and my heart seems to flutter a bit. I would like to hear from some of you that stopped taking Lisinopril, what were some of the symptoms that you experienced and for how long. I know that getting off a med can be dangerous, but staying on them can be just as dangerous, too.

I have been taking Lisinopril for approximately three weeks. Well, I have been experiencing lots of "itching". My appetite has decreased considerably and foods taste quite different. I have Lupus which keeps me tired all the time, therefore I did not contribute my tiredness to the Lisinopril. Now that I have read these comments, I can be assured that the additional fatigue can be connected to the Lisinopril. Otherwise, my bp seems to be better. I suffer with headaches normally, and have not worsened. I have not yet witnessed all the other side effects mentioned. I am, however, thankful for this site. It is good to know what could happen or if my symptoms change, this is an excellent source of reference.
Happy Holidays.

I HAVE CURRENTLY BEEN ON LISINOPRIL FOR A MONTH (STARTED 0N 8/9/07) AND I'AM FINDING OUT THAT FATIGUE SEEMS TO BE THE NUMBER ONE FACTOR, FOLLOWING WITH THE DRY HACKING COUGH AS SOON AS I LAY DOWN AT NIGHT TO GO TO SLEEP THE COUGHING STARTS, AND THE COUGH SEEMS TO SHOW ITSELF DURING THE DAY WHEN I GET TOO WARM OR TALK TOO MUCH AND MY MOUTH AND THROAT BECOME TOO DRY. I BASICALLY FEEL LIKE A DEFLATED BALLOON AND NO MATTER IF I TRY TO TAKE A CAT NAP, I FEEL LIKE I STILL CAN'T FUNCTION NORMALLY. TLA-ANAHEIM, CA

I am a 29 yr. old male and took one single 20mg dose. 5 to 6 hrs. later I noticed my jaw getting tired when eating and then pain and fatigue with my arms, shoulders, and neck. About 45 mins. after that the pain and fatigue got severe. My eyes started to hurt and I couldn't urinate. The morning after I had nausea, and severe stomach pains. I vomited yellow byle that looked like poison. This drug is vey dangerious with it's effects. It has been 72 hrs. and I still feel very bad and can't urinate. It lowers your Potassium alot. I FEEL LIKE I'M DYEING. I am not on any other meds. but Lasix. I contacted My Dr. and he said stop immediatly and I contacted the Pharmacy also. This drug was developed from the Venom of a Poisonous Bazillian Snake. The Venom can kill a Ox in five minutes and the effects are like mine. BEWARE! SEARCH ON GOOGLE!

Only 5 days on Lisinopril and I'm done with this one. Coughing - not sleeping well due to coughing during the night, cramping, constipation, headaches, severe fatigue. I called the doctor and requested something else.

I was prescribed lisinopril after I underwent open heart surgery for aortic valve replacement last July. Initially I was on 40mg, and was successively reduced to 5mg, which is where I am now. Basically, my dosage would be lowered after I would start to complain about side effects (dizziness, fatigue...), which my cardiologist would attribute to my recovery -- i.e. my blood pressure would stabilize, hence the higher dosage would lower it too much). Well, now I'm down to 5mg, and I feel worse than ever. I'm dizzy all the time, I have severe aches in my joints -- particularly in my knees and elbows, stiffness in my hands, pain in my feet, extreme fatigue, weakness in my arms, shortness of breath, and mild chest pains. My cardiologist maintains that it's not the lisinopril, yet after running full bloods, my primary doctor can't find a single thing wrong with me. I tried getting off the lisinopril for a little over a week, but I didn't feel any better. So, my question is this: does anyone else feel as crappy as I do, and how long does it take to get this drug out of your system? I'm only 34 yrs old, I'm not overweight or otherwise out of shape, and this is really affecting my ability to work and to spend quality time with my wife and 10 month old son. Ugh.

My doctor put me on Lisinopril (10 mg) a week ago. On the third day, I felt fatigue, had a cough, entire body soreness, felt feverish, with flu symptoms. My doctor told me to stop taking it for three or four days and start it up again. I did. I felt better, especially on my forth day. I started it up again on a Monday and still felt okay, but the fatigue returned. Today, which is Saturday, I woke up feeling great. I didn't take the Lisinopril until noon time and from then on I have felt very tired. I laid down for six hours, slept two. I still have the cough and have decided to take the Lisinopril at night so that I may sleep better. I go back to my doctor the 11th of October and will let you all know how that turned out.

i came across the site by accident and so glad I did - the light-headedness an fatigue are driving me crazy. Been on this drug for 2 1/2 weeks and the side effects are getting worse with uncontrollable anxiety - which is making my bp harder to control. I have a doc appt on friday, but I am going to stop taking this med TODAY! thanks all
BTW - i was diagnosed with hbp 150/90 when i was actually having an anxiety attack and yes i was holding my own arm up too!. So since i am prone to anxiety - this drug certainly doesnt help! Oh work up with cough and scratchy throat today too and the heat really bothers me

I found this site by searching for numbness, tingling and bruising. I am having these symptoms in my leg and thought it could possibly be a side effect of the lisinopril that I've been taking since February. The relief is that I'm finding other side effects that I've had that I thought were just part of my growing older. As it turns out... looks like they are side effects. I think just because they didn't appear right away, I was thinking they must be from something else. I do have the funny cough, skin itchies, and fatigue. I've also started having insomnia which has just stunned me because I've never had that before. I just never know from one night to the next if I'm going to sleep through or wake up for hours at a time. Thanks everyone for posting your experience. I guess I'd better do something to change this medication.

I've been using Lisinopril for about a year and have experienced almost all of the side effects that everyone else has described. I have frequent severe sweating, headaches, sinus pressure, sore throat, tickling throat, annoying cough, frequent periods of when my face and solar plexus area feel very hot and/or flushed though my face looks normal, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, depression, no energy or motivation......etc, etc, and I did not have any of these problems before. Not sure what else to take. I've read side effects for all bp medications and none of them seem like anything I want to experience. Is there anything that people have found to work that has very little or no side effects? This stuff works but I'm so tired of feeling run down. I tried natural remedies, diet change, exercise, etc, before going on the Lisinopril but those did nothing to lower my pressure.

I was prescribed Lisinopril 2 weeks ago (BP was 96 on the bottom). I am 32 years old. I have been sick since the second day with headaches, I am dizzy, I have been having the cold sweats (from my neck up, sounds odd, I know), insomnia, fatigue, horrible leg cramps, my neck hurts terribly on the left (it radiates a quarter way down my shoulder), itching (neck and upper back). I now have developed a fever, if it does not get better by the morning I am going to the ER (ironic because I have a Dr's appointment at 2pm 9/12/2007). I am having a hard time. I am not overweight (size 5 and 5ft9 inches tall), I eat plenty of fruits and veggies and drink more water than the law will allow, hardly any fried foods, red meat or pork are no no's. Something is wrong with this medication and if I find out it has caused me any issues, I will call a lawyer. I fell so sick and tired.

My Side effects: major heart palpitations, numb/tingling hands almost every morning upon awakening, fatigue, thinning hair, bloating/weight gain. I am 43 yrs old, not overweight & in good health other than my BP. I was on atenelol for about 8 yrs & switched to lisinopril aprx 5-6 yrs ago. HBP & heart attack run in my family (dad & brother both had heart attacks at age 40). The heart palpitations (I call them summersaults in my chest) have caused me to go to the urgent care & doctor more than once. Have had EKGs twice in last 3 yrs, wore heart monitor, etc. Said I have irregular heart beat, but nothing to really worry about. I started on 5mg, but BP continued to increase. Raised to 10 mg, but same thing. Now up to 20 mg & BP is finally better (but not low) at 120/86. I HATE being tired all the time as I'm the kind of person who is always going. I'm going to talk w/Dr. & see about switching to something else again... Thanks to all for sharing!

I am thirty five years of age and have been taking lisinopril for three months. I was prescribed 10 mg. My side effects are fatigue and some slight anxiety. I started taking half of the pill which helped some but I still can't do the work or play that I did before the medicine. After reading these comments I decided to stop taking them completely. Yesterday I did not take my pill and felt good through most of the day. At 6:00 pm I took a shower and started feeling like I was having a anxiety attack.I was a bit frightened with the way I was feeling so when I got out of the shower I decided to take my bp medication. After about an hour the anxiety got better. My question is have any of you had any negative side effects after stopping Lisinopril.
Thank you
Eric

It's 3:00 in the morning and I am awake again convinced I must have heart failure. I've been on Lisinopril for several months and recently have experienced swelling of the tongue, throat, and face. I also have hair loss, shortness of breath, fatigue, and tingling in my arms. Until I found this site I had no clue as to the cause of these symptoms. Actually, afraid to go to the doctor for fear that I had some potentially fatal heart condition or worse. Now, however, I'm making an appointment tomorrow right after throwing those pills into the trash. I think I can sleep now. Thanks for input.

I started lisinopril 5 days ago and had nausea, frequent bowel movements and severe fatigue. After 2 days like this, I cut my dose in half and the side effects are much better now, and the blood pressure is staying down. I must say it does keep the BP down. Perhaps the other people who have posted here could try cutting the dose to see if the side effects get better. Good luck!
