I recently back in April of this year received Cyberknife radiation for Adenocarcinoma with metastasis to my brain. After surgery to remove my brain tumor in March of 2009. I went though whole brain radiation and the Cyberknife to my lung. The doctor was very adamant that as the lung heals from radiation you will develop what they call wet lung or neumonesis sp? This will have to be treated separately, or severe coughing would continue. My primary care doctor in the mean time put me on Lisinopril 20 mg for hypertension. I have not gotten a good nights sleep in 2.5 months since, then came the pneumonosis. This cough persist to this day waking me from what little sleep I do get, and amazingly am now suffering from joint pain especial in my hips. It's to the point I can't even cross my legs anymore it hurts. When discussing this with my primary she says its in my head as of today and reading this site and side effects I am taking myself off of Lisinopril and will seek a second opinion, even a third if need be thank you all so much for posting your side effects from this drug.

Like many of you in this forum, I'm experiencing the pins and needles feelings all over my body, especially on my arms and face. I have weird lapses in memory. I attributed the joint pain I've been feeling this past year to being a 45-year old runner. However, upon reading so many comments regarding joint pain, I can only ascertain this isn't just something caused by age and running. Is anyone of you men experiencing erectile problems? Since starting Lisinopril a year ago I've noticed performance difficulties. My doctor said that can be expected with high blood pressure and prescribed me Cialis. Good Lord is that drug awful! I'm going to flush my bottle of Lisinopril right now and call my doctor tomorrow and discuss a safer alternative to this medicine.

I'm a 27 year old female who has been taking 5mg of Lisinopril for about 6 weeks now. I used to suffer from really bad headaches/migraines and ever since I started this medication I haven't had one at all. This is amazing since I used to go through a bottle of Excedrin a month. Lately I've noticed lots of joint pain and pain in my knees.
It's terrible, I feel like an old lady and I'm only 27. I'm glad I found this site, I'm going to try to switch to a different medication ASAP. I've also noticed I've been spotting and having an abnormal period.. not sure if that's related to the medication though.

As I read these posts I want to S C R E A M! This drug is like a slow death from Arsenic. If your Memory is impaired, it should be. It's listed as one of the side affects right inside the pamphlet that the Pharmacist gets. I have a Pharmacist friend and she read me, muscle pain, joint pain, muscle twitching and on and on. It's poison for sure and anyone on it should get off it ASAP. My husband's been off for one year next week and he still experiences mental sluggishness and cognitive deficits. So much so, he's retired because he could no longer do his job. It creeps in on you slowly, and insidious. When you start to notice, you're scared to say anything or you don't associate it with this drug. Guess what, the only drug he's ever taken. And, oh yeah, lead to depression. This is a centrally active Ace Inhibitor that cross the blood brain barrier and is literally poisoning you. Actually, there is a derivative from a Brazilian Pit Viper. Synthetic or not, it's poison. Get off people, get off. It will eventually affect your memory more and more until you resemble some form of dementia. Maybe that's why so many people are sitting in Nursing Homes with full blow dementia. The disease that caused it are the DRUGS you're taking.
Get off.

This is nothing new but goes right along with what others are saying about Lisinopril, AKA drug from Hell. I asked to be switched from Benicar due to its high cost compared to Lisinopril. My Dr. picked Lisinopril from a list my mail order pharmacy (Medco) sent as potentially less expensive than Benicar. I had zero problems with Benicar. I'm 59, male, generally in good shape. After 30 days on Lisinopril HZTC I was tired all the time, couldn't sleep very well, leg cramps, sweating like crazy. The worst part for me is joint pain that lingers on after going back to Benicar 10 days ago. The pain in one of my hip joints makes it very hard to even walk. I know it was the drug from Hell that did it. After 10 days I'm now OK except for the joint pain, which at least is not constant like it was when I was taking Lisinopril. Good luck to everyone.

I'm a 65 year old type 2 diabetic with low-functioning thyroid. I was put on lisinopril over a year ago to prevent kidney problems. I have been on 10 mg tablets. Even before I was diagnosed with diabetes I had low blood pressure so that was not a problem.
My main side effects are hair loss, coughing, insomnia and leg cramps, joint pain. I think the lisinopril is pulling nutrients from my body. I told my family doctor about the side effects I had found but he seemed more concerned about the possibility of kidney problems than any of the side effects. I know my hair loss is not age related as both of my parents had full heads of hair when they died and my mother was also a type 2 diabetic.
My blood sugar is under control, tests usually 85-90 twice a day, last A1c was 5.5 which is quite good. I take Byetta and metformin twice a day, levothyroxine, enablex. I recently started taking magnesium as it was besides calcium plus D, a multivitamin all ordered by the doctor. I also take crestor. Feels like all I do is take pills!
My weight is 166 but I'm short, 4' 10", so still heavier than I should be for my height. I try to get exercise but have degenerative arthritis in lower spine. Funny that I developed bursitis in my right hip recently, I just thought the arthritis was spreading. Now I'm not so sure it might not be due to the lisinopril also. I stopped using it yesterday so we'll see how long it takes my body to recover from this drug.
Does anyone have any experience with how long it takes to stop coughing or for the hair to regrow after quitting lisinopril?

I am a 32 year old woman who has been taking 5mg of Lisinopril for almost 2 years. I have never had high blood pressure in my life but after the birth of my second child my blood pressure didn't seem to come down and with a family history of high blood pressure my doctor put me on 5mg.
I started experiencing pain in my fingers and hands about a year ago off and on. I work on a computer 40 hours a week and just put this off to typing/computer work. I have recently started experiencing pain in my ankle and foot.
I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor regarding my joint pain/Lisinopril. After reading many of your posts I have also experienced other side effects such as fluttering in chest and tingling in arms and legs. My question is do any of you have any suggestions of things I should mention to my doctor or additional things I should be aware of? I am going to ask to be taking off this medication as well. Does anyone have tips on coming off Lisinopril?

I took Lisinopril for 2 months and began noticing soreness and stiffness cramping in my legs. Joint pain and general muscle weakness. Biggest indicator was my inability to ride road bikes (bicycle) nearly as much as normal. I did not have the muscle strength or stamina to ride like before. On one ride I had such sever cramping I had to get pick up, first time in 18 yrs of bicycling. It also states to not use sodium or potassium supplement while on this medicine, which I was doing for cramping. Also because I was borderline hypertension I did not notice any decrease in BP while on this. I have stopped taking this medicine. nn

54 year old Male, Retired Marine, Very physically active, with Type II Diabetes; 5mg. Thanks for this Website. Started Lisinopril 3/25/09. Took it for 25 days, found this website and stopped taking it immediately. I had severe JOINT PAIN. It started in my hands, then feet, knees were next, then moved into my shoulders. The pain was the worst I've ever felt. Approximately 60 days after stopping the drug I went to see the Dr. after the Pharmacist told me Lisinopril should have been out of my system after 2 weeks. The Dr gave me Steroids (Prednisol) which completely eliminated ALL pain in 2 days . I was tested for Polymyalgia Rheumatica, however the my Sed Rate was normal. The blood tests did reveal that my RHEUMATIOD FACTOR is elevated (34.3 where the normal range is 0.0-20.1 IU/ML). Was told that if the pain returned, then I would be referred to a Rheumatologist. 3 Days after finishing the dosage pack of Prednisol, the pain/swelling in my hands and shoulder has returned. Going back to see the Dr today to discuss next steps.
Although the doctors don't agree, I believe Lisinopril caused this pain, and although out of my system now, triggered something that isn't going away.
The rest of this describes the roving pains I experienced.
Hand pain included swollen fingers, inability to make a fist or type on a keyboard. After light yard work on Sat., shooting burning pain up the inside of both arms. Trying to close your hands into a fist, you can feel the tendons up your arm burn with pain. Motrin did not alleviate the pain. Hot water did not help.
Pain in my knees each morning. The pain worsened over night and frequently causes you to wake up. The pain was like your knees were being squeezed in a vice. No position is comfortable. Motrin sometimes helped, but after awoken, getting back to sleep was impossible.
Feet swollen. Couldn't wear any shoes for extended periods. Loosening the laces helps, but still caused pressure which becomes unbearable and the shoes have to come off.
Shoulders; This is the strangest one. First pain was in the left shoulder, like I had impacted a brick wall at a full run (actually no trauma occurred). The pain felt like someone had stabbed it in my shoulder in the socket. At it's worst, no position is comfortable. Had to put my arm in a sling. 5 Days later, the same type pain moved to the right shoulder.

Wavy feeling of anxiety in my head (like I used to get from codeine). Fuzzy feeling in big toes. Dry, choking cough when I lay down at night. Now, I am morbidly obese and have bad acid reflux. If I don't take Prilosec every day, I cough. I also have sinus/allergy problems. So I take Claritin-D. And for health benefits, I take baby aspirin. So I'm wondering if it is the combination or if I am getting ready to have a stroke. It's my own fault for being so overweight, but it is frustrating. I also have swollen ankles and legs. And lately I feel like I have to pee too frequently and that I'm not quite able to finish. This worries me because I was feeling like this before I found out I needed surgery to remove an ovary due to a very large cyst. I wonder if I am getting another one.

I'm 57 yrs old and have been on Lisinopril
40mg for about 8yrs. I have a high constitution so at times I didn't notice
things as quickly as others. I have always gotten my Lisinopril from the V.A. and noticed in recent months their source of supply for this drug. The V.A. went to a supplier called Major Pharmaceuticals, the pill is oval shaped instead of round. I have had bouts with depression , joint pain
back, knees, hips and neck not to mention
calves of legs swelling and worn to the touch. As of Tuesday of this week , 3days
off lisinopril I have seen a dramatic change.
of course my primary doctor non V.A. was
involved and prescribed another medication.
After three day off this Lisinopril , I don't know the source of I am very pleased and feel great. I am starting to think the drug companies are going for bargin basement
drugs made where ever, THX S.

I'm 51 and in good shape. I ran 60+ miles in Dec, a PR 5K and then started Lisinopril in late January. Since then I have been fatigued and wiped out after running - no longer get the runner's high at all. Two weeks ago I ran 6 miles and couldn't get out of bed for two days. Family doc said quit the stuff. That was 6 days ago - ran 3 today and was pretty wiped - also seen a pick up in anxiety. Any advice? How long does this stuff take to clear your system? When can expect my stamina to return? Thanks.

My husband is a 64 year old relatively healthy man. His family doctor prescribed 20 mg. Lisinopril and 40 mg. Pravastatin to lower his blood pressure and cholesterol. He began taking both drugs on March 17, 2009 and since then has had nothing but problems. Dry hacking cough, lack of appetite, disorientation, dizziness, joint pain, leg cramps, stomach bloating and diarrhea, metallic taste in his mouth, sweating, numbness and tingling in his fingers, EXTREME fatigue (sleeping 18-20 hours a day), sore throat and swollen glands, frequent urination, itching rash on his forearms and head and just about every other bad symptom you can think of. Today I am going with him to his doctor to let her know that I took him off both drugs April 15th because I firmly believe they are toxic to his system. To date, there has been little improvement in his health, and I am wondering how long it will take for these medications to clear out of his system. In my opinion, Lisinopril is a VERY DANGEROUS DRUG and should be removed from the market. I am so angry that my energetic husband has been reduced to a state of the walking comatose. He cannot perform the simplest task without needing to rest or sleep. We can lower his cholesterol with diet and exercise, but now I'm wondering what we are going to do about his high blood pressure. It scares me to even think about adding another drug to his system without knowing what the consequences are going to be. Everything I have read in the blogs on his website indicate to me that someone is making a lot of money making people sicker. The question I'm going to ask my husband's doctor this morning is "would you give this drug to a member of your family" knowing the devastating side effects"? Then I'm going to tell her that I hope her malpractice insurance is paid up because if anything more happens to my husband, I'm going to own everything she has. And one more thing, after I hear what her response to my husband's symptoms is, I'm going to find another family doctor who takes a more conservative approach to the matter of high blood pressure and cholesterol.

I was just prescribed Lisinopril 10 mg about 3 weeks ago. I now have severe pain in my muscles in my butt....yeah my butt and really bad joint pain in my knuckles..I thought it might be arthritis, but now I guess it is all due to this med. which I will be stopping as well. Does anyone have a natural/homeopathic way to decrease blood pressure? I know the Chinese and jungle people have been using nature to cure themselves for thousands of years and I am going that route now once I find it.

GET AWAY FROM THIS DANGEROUS DRUG AS FAST AS YOU CAN . After 2 years of 40mg/day I could hardly walk due to severe joint pain. 3 different doctors all told me this drug was well tolerated and acted like I was stupid for complaining. All of them gave me the same speech and drew the same diagram on paper about why Lisinopril was the best drug out there. It amazed me that the drug companies had these guys so brainwashed.
When I told the doctor about some of these posts he said "Yeah, you can find any answer you want on the internet. People don't know what's going on" They wanted to give me more drugs to counteract the joint pain. They didn't know why my energy level was at an all-time low. It surely couldn't have been their wonder drug.
Needless to say, once I got away from this stuff I started feeling immediately better. I now take 5mg Norvasc and my blood pressure has dropped dramatically. I have lost weight, my joints are back to normal, I have energy. DON'T LET THE DOCTORS TALK YOU INTO LISINOPRIL .
IT'S YOUR LIFE.

My experience with Lisinopril is brutal! I'm 37 years old and was prescribed this drug for high blood pressure. After 2 yrs. on a 10 mg. dose per day I started having numbness in both of my arms I also had sharp pain shooting down both arms at night to the point where I couldn't sleep. And when I did fall asleep I would just wake up an hour later in tremendous pain. Ive been to three doctors. They tested me for carpal tunnal and told me I had it. But didn't schedule any plan of action, so I thought with some rest it would go away but it didn't It got worse. Then I started to have severe back pain that went clear through to my So the doctor wanted me to get an ultrasound of my testicles to check for testicular cancer. The test was negative. Since the pain was on the right side in my lower ribcage area they then thought it may be my kidneys. They then sent me to a urologist who wanted to go up my penis to scope my bladder with a camera and check for bladder cancer. Which turned out to be a very very painful experience. There was nothing wrong he said. During this time the pain was as bad as ever. Then they wanted to do exploritory kidney surgery on my right kidney. I was thinking my god am I gonna die.....I went through the surgery and the doctor said there was nothing wrong.I could not believe I was in this much pain and they couldn't find anything wrong. I thought I was dying for real. Then I decided to go on web md and try to find out anything that it could possibly be. I couldn't find anything with all the symptoms that made any seance. A few months went by with no relief... I decided one day to google my medication (Lisinopril) and joint pain, w/ arm numbness well. This site popped up and I started reading and Im glad I did. I believe that for the past year that I thought I was dying and no one could tell me why is because of this toxic poisons pill Ive been taking for two years is the reason for all of it. Ive spent thousands of dollars, had two surgery's ,went through all this pain all because of a little poison pill for blood pressure. I have flushed my pills and I,m never taking the drug again. I warn anyone who has high blood pressure if your doctor mentions the word Lisinopril tell them no!!!!!!!!! It is poison for the body.I believe it would killed me if I hadn't stopped taking it and not one doctor mentioned it may be the pill I was taking everyday for my blood pressure.

I am 54 male been on 20mg. Lisinopril for a year and a half. I started out have severe nasal drainage that never seem to stop , especially when I awake. I also have severe joint pain in my knees and legs , I believe since I have been on this Med. I use to walk 3 miles a day before I started this med. Now I feel like I am 95 years old and can't walk without a lot of pain and knee braces. I came tonight to see if anyone else had the same problem I have now. I am going to get my doctor to take me off this stuff to see if I can reclaim my health back.
I had a cough for awhile but it doesn't happen much now. People my Med used to be made in Israel but now its made in India. Since then my blood pressure has been too low and at times I take a half a pill to level it out.
I really believe this Med. is taking my health away and crippling me !

I'm 57, female and have been taking Lisinopril since July. The cough appeared quickly, then the fatigue. Now I am experiencing the joint pain mainly in my fingers, shoulders, knees and toes. Occasionally I get shortness of breath and the fluttery heart palpitations . My blood pressure is way down though and I've been feeling more light headedness lately. I'm going for a follow up with the doctor and will discuss these symptoms with him and see what he says. My dosage is 12.5mg.

I have been on Lisinopril about 2 years, 40mg a day. Ive developed a cough, and i have knee pain now, which i never had before. Upon looking up side effects of this drug, joint pain was one. This stuff sounds like poison, and im going to cut back to 20mg a day and check my pressure. Eventually i may go off it all together and take my chances with high blood pressure. Contact me if you want, it would be nice to discuss this with any one, i also get nausea at times.

If you are taking this medicine, STOP! I took this medicine for about three months. I started to feel like I had a congestion. I cough lightly at first then into a hard cough which progressed into a hacking. My wife thought I was critically ill. I was spitting up clear congestion at work into my garbage can. This stuff is bad, I found this site and stopped taking the medicine. It took 3 week for the cough to subside. It’s been about 4 months, and I would say I am only about 98 percent back to where I started . About every 3 weeks I out of the blue start to slightly hack. I know one thing this is not a good medicine. When I started my BP was 138/109. My doctor told me to try this. Because of this medicine I could not do my job and my doctor never told me it was the medicine. When I told him he told me he didn’t think it was the medicine and prescribe some cold medicine

Exhaustion, joint pain, headache, ankle swelling, shortness of breath, persistent (cold) sores in my nose…
I am 52 years old and have taken Lisinopril for approximately 7-8 months. During the past two weeks, the majority of my joints have suddenly begun to ache. My fingers, especially index fingers, and one wrist are extremely uncomfortable. Other than the side effects listed in the comments on these pages, has anyone lost their eye brows? Sounds crazy doesn’t it but I first thought it was a side effect of hormone replacement therapy. I gradually stopped taking the HRT (ugh!) but continued to lose my eyebrows and now I notice my eyelashes are thinning. After trips to two dermatologists, neither had an explanation and both denied the HRT drug would cause the hair loss. I was and am extremely frustrated. I am not sure what made me research side effects for Lisinopril again but I finally saw something on an internet site saying that ONE percent of people could suffer hair loss. I’m sure my doc will be disappointed that I want off this medication. The only meds I take regularly are Lisinopril and Dyzaide (low dose). I have taken the Dyzaide for several years.

I have been taking 20mg of Lisinopril and 5mg of Felodipine for about a year now, and I am experiencing excruciating joint pain. The back of my knees ache even while sitting and the bottom of my right foot keeps me from walking freely because it hurts so much. My wrists and fingers hurt too. I am overweight, so I just figured it was due to excess weight, but reading these posts made me realize that this is not normal. I am in pain all day long. I feel like I'm going crazy because I can't just get up and go- I struggle to do anything. I did not want to see my doctor because I've switched medicines before- used to take 50mg of atenolol but fatigue was horrible, so doc gave me hydrochlorothiazide and it gave me a terrible rash on my face. I thought I was done switching meds- does anyone know what is a good bp medicine? I'm tired of being tired and in pain.

Am I the only one who has gained a lot of weight while on Lisinopril? I have gained over 40lbs in 3 years. I have also experienced odd muscle cramping and have never made a connection to this and Lisinopril. The pain in my ear, side of my head, and my jaw was unbelievable. ENT dr thought it was TMJ or nerve damage. He was not able to really pin down the exact cause. One month later I was bed ridden with severe back pain, which I have never had before. MRI showed nothing. Headaches are daily, cough, leg cramps, chest pain, decreased sex drive, and definitely have feelings of depression. I have never made the connection between the changes in my personality, health, and lifestyle to this medicine; but now I have. I will be immediately contacting my doctor to discuss alternatives. My BP when I started was 150/90 and now is 112/70. Please let me know if anyone has also had the weight gain like I have experienced. I know I am going to have to have hard facts to show to my doctor. Thank you.

I am 37. My BP was around 160/95. My Dr put me on Lisinopril 10mg daily. My BP became normal almost immediately. I have been on it for over a year now and here is what I have noticed. I am CONSTANTLY tired and dizzy. Any thought of walking anywhere of any distance is horrifying because of the fear of collapse. I sleep over 10 hrs a night only to wake up exhausted. I am so sick of being tired. I just want to sleep my life away. This is no way to live. I am depressed all of the time. I can't even shop anywhere because of the anxiety which comes with it. i.e. numbness in arms, rapid pulse, faintness, hyper ventalation and just pure panic for no reason whatsoever. I can't control it. When I sleep, my fingers and hands fall completely asleep. They are dead. It wakes me up numerous times every night. I can't get good rest. I stopped taking Lisinopril a week ago. My BP is below normal now. My pulse is around 55 at all times. I have never had joint pain, just extreme fatigue. God willing, I won't have to take this med again, or any med. I forgot how I used to feel. I wasn't always like this.

I was prescribed 5 mg. Lisinopril at the end of September. It took a couple of months for the cough to develop but it came on very suddenly and uncontrollably. I would have to bring bottled water and cough drops with me everywhere because it would come on so quickly. The doctor said it was bronchitis and prescribed zithromax. Still no relief from the cough. I was also having lightheadedness, joint pain and numbness in my fingers. I went back to the doctor after another month of coughing and was prescribed more zithromax and tussionex cough medicine ($50 a bottle) and was diagnosed with a winter cold even though I told the doctor I had no cold symptoms. I called the doctor after finishing the antibiotics and told her the cough was still the same. She wanted to give me yet another dose of zithromax which I said I didn't want because I did not feel sick and did not want to keep taking antibiotics so she told me she would give me an RX for allergy medicine which I never picked up. At this point I was so upset I went for a second opinion and was immediately taken off the Lisinopril. It took a little more than 2 weeks but the cough and all the other symptoms have now completely disappeared. I trusted this doctor but my body was telling me that something was not right and I'm glad I finally found out it was the lisinopril.

I've been taking Lisinopril for almost 2 years & Happy my BP has lowered. But I've been having terrible joint pain; that has been magnifying a lot lately. Even when I'm not doing anythings strenuous. Two of my fingers on the top ache terribly, the front of my shin is intensifying, my knees feel like they are going to go out on me, my shoulders feel like arthritis had set in & my neck is constantly feeling stiff, my feet hurt. I am overweight, but never have experienced anything like this stiffness & pain before. I was beginning to wonder if it were Candida related. I'm going to try going off of the Lisinopril for a while; monitoring my blood pressure & see if my pain resolves. I pray so; I feel like one of the elderly residents I help take care of.

I noticed within days that it had an effect on my behavior such that I found usual emotional aggravations (like being cut off while driving) suddenly did not bother me. I subsequently found out that lisinopril binds to Testosterone and mine was low to begin with and with the lisinopril effect I had a really low testosterone requiring supplementation.
I started taking Lisinopril about a year ago. I have had no cough or joint pain, but fatigue is severe, even if I get enough sleep. Some afternoons I find it almost impossible to stay awake. I will repost some time after stopping it.

I am hoping that this will help at least one person, to get off of lisinopril
There is a big difference between "side effects" and actual symtoms that are happening to most of us that take lisinopril.
Side effects usually occur shortly after taking a certain medication.
i took lisinopril for 2 years and gradually all the symptoms escallated and continued to get worse over time. i tought i was dying, i did so many test to find out what was wrong with me, cost a fortune, eventually i realised that all of these things were being caused by lisinopril.
I had shortness of breath, muscle weakness, joint pain, after every meal i was so bloated and a very heavy feeling at night , i could hardly turn in my bed because of being so weak and felling heavy, and the worse was this lump in my throat that got worse every day until i could not swallow or even breath i decided to do MRI ,found nothing , i ran out of lisinopril medication and this immediately got better, i have stopped taking for 1 month and i feel a lot better but still trying to recover from these "side Effects"

I am a 50yr old female... was prescribed Lisinopril 10mg for bp.. after a few weeks I started getting a funny hard to explain feeling with my heart beating a certain way.. don't know how to explain it.. fluttering maybe.. feel it pounding. So after I realized it could be this pill I stopped it.. I moved out of state from my dr... and not ins. yet.. however I watch my bp and when it got alittle higher I thought I will take 1/2 one.. which takes BP down to normal, but after doing this here and there.. that same feeling in my heart started..
Has anyone experienced this feeling?? I don't seem to have the other side effects Thank God.. but this one scares me as I don't see anyone mentioning this feeilng..

I wanted to give a update. . . I stopped taking that poison on 07/02/07.... I feel like a whole new person....only side effect i have left is the night sweats and the itching at night ,but not so bad where I can't sleep......still have joint pain but it is not as bad, compared to when I was taking it. I have been taking 1 tbs of apple cider vinegar 3 times a day and it seem to be helping. . . when I stopped taking the meds my bp was 170/110......now it is 138/70......... I think I will stick with the apple cider vinegar if you would read my post on july 7 you will see I have come a long way..... thank you God

I have been on lisinopril for 7 years and and have gradually become aware of side effects coming on slowly - and now worsening allot of late. I was moved from 10mg to 20mg and things have gotten quite bad - allot of joint pain, generalized fatigue, and just lately I have broken out in hives in a huge way - on my torso and appendages - but these just do not go away - I take huge doses of anti-histamine, and it barley touches it. I just had to stop taking the drug - so I did not take my dose last night, but today I still am covering with welts and hives. I had my wife take digital pictures of the really bad areas that look almost scarred now from the recurring welts - cortisone cream doesn't help at all - I can hardly go to work like this. I don't know when this will stop but I have stopped taking my 20mg

I started taking 20mg 6 weeks ago for High Blood Pressure ...im experiencing extreme muscle and stomach cramps...excruciating low back pain....joint pain...i spent this weekend curled in a ball unable to move with elevated pulse and heaviness on my chest. I feel like im slowly poisioning myself. I am med sensitive anyway and cannot force myself to take anymore....the dr says its not the lisinopril...but all these side effects started right after beginning the med. I have no health insurance and cant afford more lab tests and dr appts. Im going to try to survive by using strict DASH diet. I hope it works.

I've been on Lisinopril for a year. I was changed over to the generic brand just 3 months ago and am having more & more trouble. Sleeplessness is a growing problem.....just can't go to sleep and then can't stay asleep for more than 3 hrs. at a time. I've also experienced trouble with bounding heart rate. This will come on whenever it wants to. I have had a dull headache for at least 3 weeks and a great deal of pain & stiffness in the neck/shoulders area. The latest problem that I have started to experience is unstable vision. It is like looking through heat waves. This causes dizziness too. I have been listening to my heart beat rather loudly for some time now. I do have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and have multiple joint pain. I thought I was falling apart, but because of this site I find it can all be due to taking 10 mg. po qd @ hs. I just stopped taking it last night. I need my vision. I need my health. Thanks!

After being on Lisinopril for 2 weeks, I experienced severe chest pains. Then I began having a persistant dry cough, left arm soreness, unable to sleep at night, hives, severe heartburn, and just plain feeling unwell. I thought I had pnuemonia or bronchitis. My doctor advised it was the Lisinopril and had me stop taking it immediately. I have been off of it for 1 week but am still experiencing the cough and heartburn and joint pain. How long does it take for this stuff to get out of your system? I wish I had never taken this stuff.

About three weeks ago on stumble on to this side, looking for any side effects to lisinopril. for the last 7 months I have had stabbing muscle pains in my left foot. Joint pain started in my toes on both feet and as of June tennis elbow in my left elbow with no explanation. When I found this web site 3 weeks ago there were several people who had the same side effects. I have since stopped taking the drug and my symptoms have cleared about 60%. I also was having heart palputations and my Dr. wanted to give me another drug for that. I said no way. This drug is dangerous I will never take it again. How long do these symptoms last?

I took Lisinopril for one month. Within two days of taking the med, I began to cough violently all day. The children has colds and the pollen here was flying so I didn't think of it being the medicine. There was much mucous produced. I often vomited because of the coughing. I saw my doc's partner after 7 days of coughing and was diagnosed with bronchitis and given an inhaler and a z-pack. I had to have a cough drop in my mouth at all times even while sleeping to get somewhat of a break. I just thought I was going to start coughing one day and choke to death. Currently my right hip joint is so stiff and painful. My finger joints were mildly affected but are now fine. I have been off Lisinopril for 10 days now. The cough is not all day but still present and can be quite violent. The joint pain and stiffness are still present. I aches when at rest. My mobility is quite impacted. I am afraid that I am going to fall. Getting up from sitting is painful and often feels impossible. I'm a 44 year old woman with a 9 and 11 year old. I have plenty to do!!! This drug was toxic for me. I don't feel as if I'll ever be the same. I have got to get my hip back.

Started taking lisinopril in mid Feb 06. Three weeks in and I've been experiencing unusual joint and muscle pain. I called my doctor, mentioning my symptoms and he seemed surprised, saying that the cough was the only side effect he was aware of. I have joint pain in my fingers, wrists, ankles, knees, elbows, shoulders, and muscle pain in the forearms, biceps and thighs. I read the email from the guy who felt "as if I am 75 years old", and I can empathize. I feel as though I'd just returned to the gym after a years absence and overdid it! Trouble is, it 's there every day and seems to be getting worse.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
