Lisinopril and numbness in legs

I have been on and off lisinopril since 1997. i have type 2 diabetes and my dr at that time prescribed zestril for me. Two days later while catching the bus to work, both legs went numb and threw me to the floor. i was taking 20mgs at that time. I was constantly getting bach pain and numbness in legs and feet. Now i'm back on zestoric (lisinopril/hczt), but i split the pill and still get side effects. Most recently ended up in ER with severe itching, swollen face, and eyes. Had to have eye surgery. I hate this drug, but it is the only med that keeps my bp low. Perhaps I should try getting 5 mgs then i wouldn't get side effects.
