Lisinopril and prozac

I am 50 years old. I was prescribe Lisinopril because my two parents died from High Blood pressure. I started 5Mgr. Dr. said if I don't take that "medicine" I will die in about three years. After three weeks Dr. put me on Amprazolam; I had, first, memory lost; after, anxiety and then panic attacks. Dr. told if I don't take Prozac and Lisinopril I will Definitely die. I never started with Prozac. My Dr, as a great soldier of the Insurance groups from his perspective-sewer of pharmaceutical companies, insisted in that garbage. I stop taking lisinopril 4 weeks ago. I feel much better; I had all symptoms described by everyone here. I still feel some panic, is not that strong. I will be interested in a Law action against that pharmaceutical company that produces that garbage called Lisinopril. Is anyone who sptop Lisinopril would tell us your story how you felt after stoping?

I firmly believe that this med is dangerous for myself (and others)!! I started taking this HBP med (March 2009) as my doctor said it would be cheaper than Diovan HCT that I was taking (no generic available for Diovan)...so I agreed. Yes the lisinopril did keep my blood pressure down. Over the summer I noticed that depression was creeping into my life. Also my hubby began taking the same med a few months before I started. Over the spring and summer he started experiencing weird body aches and his joints were hurting and sometimes very swollen. Especially his elbows, shoulders and fingers. Rhemy doctor said he could not find any reason for the joint pains etc. Then in the fall his hands started turning numb at night to the point of intense pain. In the meantime I slid into a much deeper depression. Close to suicidal at times. Horrible, vivid nightmares, waking up in fetal positions! This is 180 degrees different from my normal view of life. I'm the eternal optimistic person!
So in November my doctor put me on Prozac (generic)...I was happy for exactly one week and then slid even deeper into depression. Out of desperation I started researching all of my meds..and came across this site! OMG - I was stunned to read about the same type symptoms!! So I immediately stopped the lisinopril and started back on my Diovan (thank God I kept the bottle)....within 48 hours my depression stopped. It's been amazing! I've been back on the Diovan for 10 days now and I feel like I have my life back. Same for my husband. All of his weird body aches and pains have stopped completely. His own depression has stopped. The only lingering side effect so far is that I will go from hot and clammy to cold and clammy numerous times during the day. This could be that I'm detoxing from this poison! I have been taking Bragg's Cider vinegar to help with the detoxing.

I'm also telling all of my friends about this med as it appears many docs are pushing this med cos it's so cheap to get - especially at Walmart - 90 pills for $10 is cheap. But not worth my sanity!!

Here are my list of side effects:
brain fogginess
severe depression
no energy
weight loss
no sex drive
sexual dysfunction
obsessive behaviors
no patience with anything or anyone
continuous crying spells
nightmares
insomnia
short tempered

I do hope someone files a class action lawsuit against the pharm companies for pushing this poison on so many people. Hard to believe that the FDA has done nothing about this many complaints!

I started lisinopril almost 9 months ago..and it has taken 9 months for me to slide down a very steep slope of problems. First was the sexual dysfunction side of things...I chalked it up to stress - and slowly over the summer the depression crept into my life. My doc put me on Prozac a month ago...it worked for exactly one week and stopped....I just turned 50 so thought maybe menopause is kicking in..had the doc test me - NOPE - not even close...so I have started researching all of meds for depression and Voila! Here I find this site with all these lists of side effects from Lisinopril. I stopped taking it as of today and have switched back to my old Diovan HCT. Will update this list with the results as I go along but Lisinopril has been the only change in my meds in the past year....life sucks so far the last 9 months! I'm not suicidal but headed that way! terrible ab swelling bloat and pain swelling in different part of body but every thing seems to be on left side.Feel compression of all inside organs in abdomen.making wheezing and breathing not right.Depression - my Prozac didn,t seem to work any more now that I look back on it. I started taking lisinopril about 8 yrs ago.Lately started with headache but that went away as soon as i stopped drug. Luckily over the holidays I ran out of pills and stopped taking and about on the second day (three days after one of my emergency visits where they never find nothing even though I feel like I am dying.) I felt like my old self again .I felt normal. I was so happy Yet so mad at doctors. For getting treated like I was crazy after awhile.I found out about intestinal angioedema fro my pharmacist when on a whim asked about lisinopril .My stomach area is all still sore but not all swelled up .Oh I also had urinary problems Which I still Have off and on But I take Flomax even though i am female. Im going to get bladder scope next week and I know it has to do with compression for so long from angioedema from the lisinopril.

I AM 28 YEARS OLD & HAVE BEEN ON LISINOPRIL FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS NOW....I HAVE TRIED VARIOUS MEDS. FOR MY HYPERTENSION SINCE I HAVE HAD HIGH B.P. SINCE THE AGE OF 15. I SWITCHED MEDS. DURING PREGNANCY TO AVOID HARMING THE BABY...I WAS PUT ON TOPROL....I HAVE HAD PRE-ECLAMPSIA IN ALL 3 OF MY PREGNANCIES...NOW MY DR. PUT ME ON LISINOPRIL, VALIUM, PROZAC & LORTAB 10 (FOR UNBELIEVEBALE HEADACHES)! SO, IT'S NO SUPRISE I'M FEELING DIZZY & WEAK. BUT THE COUGH IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! AT THE LAST D.R. VISIT HE ASKED IF I HAD BEEN COUGHING ALOT, WHICH IT WASN'T THAT BAD AT THE TIME, I TOLD HIM I HAD BEEN, SO HE TOLD ME THAT THE LISINOPRIL WAS THE CAUSE & THAT WHEN I'M READY TO SWITCH MEDS. TO LET HIM KNOW. THE ALTERNATIVE MED. IS MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT I AM SWITCHING....I TOOK MY SELF OFF THE LISINOPRIL ON SAT. & AM CALL HIM ON MON. FOR A NEW RX.....I COUGH SO HARD IT MAKES MY HEAD POUND, I CAN'T SLEEP, MY HUSBAND & KIDS CAN'T SLEEP,SOMETIMES I COUGH SO HARD I VOMIT.....WHEN I HAVE A COUGHING EPISODE IT CAN LAST UP TO AN HOUR NON STOP.....MY HUSBAND HAD A VASECTOMY A FEW WEEKS AGO THAT I STAYED IN THE ROOM WITH HIM FOR & I COUGHED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROCEEDURE & ALL THE WAY HOME WHILE DRIVING!!!! I CAN'T EVEN GO TO THE GROCERY STORE DUE TO EMBARRASEMENT!!! SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE IT'S NEVER GONNA' STOP & I CAN'T CATCH MY BREATH & LETS NOT TALK ABOUT THE TERRIBLE HEART BURN....I'VE NEVER EVEN TAKEN A ROLAID UNTIL TODAY! I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WISH SOMEONE WOULD TAKE THIS DRUG OFF THE MARKET!!!!!!!!!!!
