I'm 40 yrs old and was prescribed Lisinopril on July 2. For at least a month or so I've been experiencing constipation and headaches on occasion. The leg cramps happen every night though. My scalp has been very tender in areas, my throat is sore, I have the nagging cough, my vision seems to have gotten worse, and my skin itches miserably. I have headaches, which I thought were sinus headaches, but sinus meds didn't help. Yesterday the itching got so bad, I took Benadryl, which helped...I also slept VERY well...I went to the Dr today. He looked at my arms and back which were red and splotchy. He told me to stop taking the Lisinopril and we'll watch my BP. I'm hoping that all these things go away soon. I was beginning to think it was all in my head.

Very shortly after taking I became so dizzy I could not stand. Stomach upset was so severe I had to take to bed. ordinarily I get little reaction from drugs, less than most, even the beficial ones.
The severity of the dizziness, for I felt close to blackout, was frightening. Six hours later, I am still unable to function normally and have taken to bed.

About 6 weeks ago my doctor decided to put me on a mile medication for BP and he prescribed a tiny 2.5 mg lisinipril daily dosage for me. About the same time, first or so of November, I caught a cold and had a bad cough with it. The cold symptoms eventually subsided except for the cough. It lessened in severity but is still with me. About 3 weeks ago I developed what I thought was a side ache or possibly a pulled muscle from the coughing but it progressed to be quite painful. I went to see my doctor today and it's apparently pleurisy which is not so serious but is VERY painful. He immediately took me off the lisinipril and prescribed a different BP med for me. He feels that this will solve my problem and the pleurisy will go away. He said that lisinipril can cause the urge to cough and it can be a problem at night while trying to sleep and this has been a problem for me. My husband also caught a cold, has a cough and is taking lisinipril. If he's still coughing in a week or so, the doctor may change his BP medication too.

I AM SO GLAD TO HAVE DISCOVERED THIS WEBSITE! I HAVE BEEN ON LISINOPRIL 10mg NOW FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS AND FOR MOST OF THAT TIME I HAVE HAD THE MOST HORRIBLE, CROUPY COUGH.
IT STARTS AS A TICKLE IN THE THROAT, THEN I AM AWARE OF PHLEGM IN THE THROAT AND THE COUGHING THAT FOLLOWS COULD BE DESCRIBED AS 'VIOLENT'AND NOT A LITTLE SCARY! THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY; I CAN BE SUDDENLY WOKEN UP BY COUGHING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, PRODUCING A LARGE AMOUNT OF PHLEGM AND EXPERIENCING A DREADFUL WRACKING, CHOKING SENSATION AND SOMETIMES THIS WILL TAKE MINUTES TO CLEAR.
I SELDOM AM ABLE TO SPEAK ON THE PHONE WITHOUT THE CONVERSATION BEING LIBERALLY PEPPERED WITH APOLOGETIC, RASPY COUGHS.
THE SEVERITY AND FREQUENCY OF THE COUGH IS ALWAYS WORSE TOWARDS THE END OF THE DAY, AND OFTEN LEADS TO A TIGHT, SORE FEELING IN THE CHEST.
I HAVE TWICE BEEN TO SEE THE DR WITH THESE SYMPTOMS, AND HAVE BEEN SENT FOR CHEST X-RAYS AND GIVEN ANTIBIOTICS. THE FINDINGS ARE ALWAYS NEGATIVE AND THE SYMPTOMS HAVE NEVER BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO LISINOPRIL. HAVING READ OF THE SYMPTOMS OTHER LISINOPRIL USERS ARE EXPERIENCING, I AM CONVINCED THAT IN MY CASE AT LEAST, LISINOPRIL IS THE CAUSE OF THIS DREADFUL COUGH, AND TO A LESSER EXTENT, ACHY LIMBS.
I PLAN TO SEE THE DR YET WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND WILL MENTION THIS WEBSITE AND THE SIMILARITIES OTHER PATIENTS ON LISINOPRIL HAVE EXPERIENCED.
SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! I WILL BE REQUESTING A CHANGE OF MEDICATION PDQ!

I was initially placed on Aceon for HBP but was switched to Linisopril by my drug provider in late July. Within several weeks I developed a cough that by mid-August had developed to violent, unpredictable and overpowering coughing spells that would last for three to five minutes. These spells were accompanied by watering eyes and a runny nose.
When I mentioned the problem to my doctor, he immediately speculated that it was a Linisopril reaction. Further research suggested that this was probably the case and that from the time I stopped taking it it would be from 2 to 4 weeks before the symptoms went away.
As I write this, I have been off for 16 days and the symptoms have not abated. Within the last week, I have had to sleep in a chair to avoid continual coughing.
In reading these postings, I was amazed at the wide variety of side effects and their severity. It appears that Linisopril is the ultimate "Weapon of Mass Destruction"

by rose81, 2 replies, updated about 2 hours ago.I was given the fantastic news that my body doesn't like itself anymore. I don't know when it had a falling out, but all I can say is the course of action to remedy this disease is CRAZY. Taking meds that have more side effects and the restrictions on my daily life, because of the meds, no driving, no salt, no sugar, and little fat in my diet, very little sun. Bathing in skin moisturizer, moodiness, mental confusion, can't work, but expected to continue cooking for family, and cleaning. Which I guess ...

He has slured speech, incoherent, unsteady on his feet & drops off to sleep in the blink of an eye. Could it be something other that drink related? or is he just pretending to himself he's ok?
