Been taking 10 mg of Lisinopril for about 3 months now for BP that was 160/70...Last reading was 130/70...BUT for the last 5 weeks I have experienced stomach upset followed by an Upper Respiratory Infection whcih took 4 weeks to resolve followed by muscle weakness in my arms and legs followed by urinary issues (too much urination, too little, urine color change, etc. Before these episodes I had not even had a clod in years...Any connection to Lisinopril???

hello, was on lisinopril for about the first 3 weeks of 2007 and had bad stomach problems and could not uriniate, felt like my bladder was full. i thought i had prostrate problems, went back to doc, said it was probably a urinary infection. gave me cipro and said it would clear up in a couple of days, got worse. found this site on jan 20 and quit taking lisinopril that day. after 3-4 days i could uriniate again. doc then gave me atenolol and took it for about 10 days, have had a wierd kind of sore throat and sore around adams apple, feels like something hung in my throat and my appitite is nothing like it used to be, not hungry, and not sleeping worth a darn. anybody know how long these side effects last. driving me and my wife crazy. also hoarseness in throat and voice. i sure am glad to find this site. tommy p.s, am sure symptoms were before taking atenolol.

I have been on Lisinopril for 5 months with HCTZ. Stopped the HCTZ and went to straight Lisinopril 10 mg and I couldn't urinate and felt extreme pressure in my bladder. Urine smell was very strange. Stopped taking it and everything was fine.

I was on Lisinopril for 1 1/2 years (20 mg), and I seemed to have retention of water with other urinary problems, such as darker color, etc. My doctor said that this is not the case, but a friend who is a good doctor in Mexico said that urinary problems were a complication. This was without my saying anything along that line.
I cannot say that all my problems came from Lisinopril, but I was getting sick at every turn: I had coldness in my legs and feet; my heart just gave me fits as it palpitated or whatever out of order; other symptoms!
My doctor did concede and take me off the L because of the congestion/cough problem I had developed. It was not extreme, but I had never had that before.
I now take enelypryl morning and night. I was on that before the L and did not have side effects. I feel so different now after just 10 days or so.

I've been taking 10mg of Lisinopril since 1/06 just before going to bed. I, too have experienced dizziness and fainting. Many nights when I've awakened to urinate, I've felt like I've been drunk (and I have not had any alcohol). However, last Friday night I woke around 1am extremely dizzy. I fainted after urinating. I've since readjusted my schedule of Lisinopril and am now taking it early in the morning. I'm also taking it with a full glass of water, have STOPPED taking potassium supplements and I am trying to drink more water during the day. I've not had an incident since I've readjusted, but remain concerned about the drug.

I originaly was prescribed verapamil (240gm) for HBP of 240/110. This did bring it down to 160/90 after a week or two, then I was prescribed initially 5mg and then 10 mg of lisinipril. I've been on these tablets now for four years.
Blood pressure now runs around 130/70.
I haven't attributed any problems to Lisinipril but I have gradually found I need to urinate very frequently, even having to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. Impotence is another problem, both of these difficulties my doctor put's down to being age related .(I'm 57) Recent prostate examination did not find enlargement and PSA test was negative.
I'm in otherwise wise excellent health, eating sensibly, 5'9" weighing 148 Lbs, exercising at gym 3 times a week, plus golf and walking.
I noted someone else attributed floaters in the eye being a side effect of this pill. I too experienced this in both eyes . Examination discovered both retinas had torn. I was immediatelly operated and thankfully operation was successful . Hospital did not associate Lisinipril with this condition.
Doctor has tried other tablets to help with urinary problem, nothing has worked so far.
I did not have any of these health problems until after I had started lisinipril and verapamil. I do not have evidence that either or both are the the cause .
If anyone knows of any proved association I'd love to know.

I am a 29 yr. old male and took one single 20mg dose. 5 to 6 hrs. later I noticed my jaw getting tired when eating and then pain and fatigue with my arms, shoulders, and neck. About 45 mins. after that the pain and fatigue got severe. My eyes started to hurt and I couldn't urinate. The morning after I had nausea, and severe stomach pains. I vomited yellow byle that looked like poison. This drug is vey dangerious with it's effects. It has been 72 hrs. and I still feel very bad and can't urinate. It lowers your Potassium alot. I FEEL LIKE I'M DYEING. I am not on any other meds. but Lasix. I contacted My Dr. and he said stop immediatly and I contacted the Pharmacy also. This drug was developed from the Venom of a Poisonous Bazillian Snake. The Venom can kill a Ox in five minutes and the effects are like mine. BEWARE! SEARCH ON GOOGLE!
