I started taking Lo24 on the first day of my period on May 19th and have been bleeding ever since. I called the doctor and am waiting for a call back, but I'm seriously considering just finishing this pack and saying the heck with it. Anyone else have a constant flow when first starting the pills?

Glad I found this site. I am 37, My OBGYN put me on Loestrin 24 after talking to my cardiologist, to help with a rapid heart rate/arrhythmia caused by my natural hormones which was causing shortness of breath and other symptoms. I am on my 3rd pack. I have taken the last 2 packs back to back per doctors orders. While this pill has lowered my rapid heart rate/arrhythmia, Unfortunately, the decreased heart rate is the only good thing about being on this pill. I do not want to take Loestrin 24 anymore because I am so swollen my jeans do not fit, I have insomnia, I have days of feeling moody in a way I have never felt before, I have cramps as if I have my period but I don't have it, I have food cravings I never had before, I am tired, my body is painfully swollen to the touch (feels the same as swollen boobs) on my thighs and some days when I walk I feel the thigh swelling/pain, also swollen to the touch are sides of abdomen, upper abdomen, arms and some days my socks leave ankle rings from my socs from water retention. my eye is twitching (eye doc said from the swelling) and lids are swollen, I have a call into my Dr's. to discuss stopping this pill and after seeing your posts and the fact that you all have the same side effects from this pill and I feel better knowing this water retention/bloating is not in my head.

I am 38 years old and have been taking Loestrin since August 07. Since beginning this pill my periods have NEVER come during the 4 day "off" time period of the pills. My period has remained inconsistent. This past January I started bleeding twice a month. My migraines have increased in intercity and frequency, the bleeding and cramping is horrible. I am losing large blood clots and experiencing dizzy spells. I have made a doctors appt for Monday and have stopped taking the pills after this last period. I was put on this pill because of a history of migraines, but they have just gotten worse and always occurr right before my period starts.

I started taking Loestrin 24 about a year ago. This was the first time I was ever on the pill so at first I just thought the side effects were normal. Within the last 6 months though it has got a lot worse. I get very anxious, sensitive and paranoid. Also started getting pains in my side and chest. At first I was afraid of blood clots b/c it ran in my family but now after reading this stuff I see now I'm not the only one with these issues. I just stopped taking it today and now will be looking for another alternative. Only benefit to this pill is the short periods...but in the end its just not worth it!

I have been taking Loestrin for a little over a week. I haven't read much of this from other people, but I've been having throbbing-like pains going up and down my legs, arms, and hands. That has made me nervous about maybe getting blood clots. My doctor says to keep trying it longer. I guess I will, but want to know from anyone else if they are getting pains up and down their legs and arms too? And if you did, did it go away?? Thanks!

I;ve been taking Loestrin FE 1.5/30 tabs for about a year now. Love not getting a period at all but still get heavy bloating, slight cramping & break outs. Have been severely depressed though so I went on Wellbutrin. After reading some of the postings here I'm beginning to think the Loestrin is making me depressed! Also have gained about 10 lbs. Not sure if my side affects are from the Loestrin or Wellbutrin (Wellbutrin is supposed to decrease your appetite however mine has increased!) I am tired and feel bloated all the time. Maybe I should try a different pill but i am getting used to not having a period and not sure I want to go back to having one.

This is my first experience with the pill .I recently started taking Loestrin 24 Fe about 4 days ago due to being on my period for a little over 3 weeks. My Dr.told me to take double doses for the first 3 days he highly recommended it even though I'm a bit skeptical especially after reading everyones Horror stories about it. Ever since I've started taking them I have these really Sharp HEADACHES.. and extremely emotional. I Don't know if this is just normal or if it's signs of something possibly more serious. I've read a lot about blood clots and that's what freaks me out the most( I don't drink/smoke) Should I be alarmed?? Could it be just my anxiety.. I've been freaking out so much that I'm contemplating not taking it anymore someone help?! Any INSIGHT?????
Thanks!

I am 29 years old and was taking Loestrin 24 Fe. Six days after taking the pill I started having severe pains in my right leg and trouble breathing. Come to find out about two and a half weeks later I had developed blood clots in my leg and had traveled to my lungs. Thank God it was caught in time. I spent 6 days in the hospital on total bed rest, they wouldn't even let me go to the bathroom. I was on blood thinners through the IV and in pill form. I also had to have a blood transfusion because of the periods I had two weeks apart from each other, which were extremely heavy. I went through 80.tampons and 48 pads. The ER doctor said if I had not come to the ER that day I could have died that night.

Hello and help! I am 41 years old, healthy, non-smoker; my Gyn has placed me on Loestrin 24 to help with a harmone imbalanace. I am 2 weeks into my first pack, and I am still having my period. Is this a normal side effect. My mood is fine and I am able to sleep fine. Really no other side effects, except for the never ending bleeding with blood clots. I am just wondering if anyone is having this issue. I am about ready to give up but I know I need to give it a chance. Just tired on wearing pads.

Wow - so many of you with the same symptoms and side-effects I'm experiencing. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen years ago with minimal side effects beyond slight weight gain during the first few months. With this pill, I feel like I've become a monster. I'm bloated and I've been bleeding for 9 days now (I started the pills the day my period ended, on the advice of my doctor. I began bleeding a week later and have not stopped.). I'm normally a very happy person, but in the 2.5 weeks I've been on this medication, my moods change faster than the weather - I go from happy to despondent over the smallest, most insignificant things and cannot be cheered up. I have constant anxiety. I've cried more in the last 2 weeks than I have in the last year. I get angry over nothing, and I feel lazy all the time. My normally above-average libido is in the toilet. Fortunately, my boyfriend is incredibly understanding and knows that the changes I'm experiencing are due to this new medication changing my body chemistry.

I don't want to be like this, though. I don't want to be angry, sad, anxious, lazy, or uninterested in sex. I don't want a month-long period for 3 months while my body adjusts. I'm not in the physical condition to be able to shrug off an extra 10 pound due to bloating, and I'm tired of popping Advil to deal with my cramps. Before I found this site, I thought maybe the symptoms would go away in the next week or so, but I've now decided I'm not waiting this one out - I'm calling my doctor and finding a different alternative. This is simply unacceptable.

Also, I know it has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the medication, but their website disgusts me. "Cammie's Story"? If they spent half that advertising budget on research to eliminate the horrible side effects of their product, perhaps the pill would sell itself.

My sun has suffered from three years of age with stomach pain and discomfort uppon eating he is now 12 years old. We have seen many doctors all of whom are very vague. His blood work consistantly comes back with low amylase and lipase. Yet they dont see any need for further investigation. I have been told he has a sensitive stomach. As a mother I see more. I live with him and see him every day. He eats very little, (i think it still hurts) he says he's not in pain anymore. At nine he was still thr...
