Lupron and ankles

HOT FLASHES!!!! CRAZINESS!!!!. I had 1 monthly injections for uterine fibroids.... People at my work were afraid to talk to me because I was always defensive, irritable... like a split personality. I could be perfectly happy one second and close to tears the next. I felt mad and annoyed almost all of the time... but the worst for me were the hot flashes... Thank goodness I took these shots in the winter. I woke up one night thinking my cat had gone #1 on my, but I was just sweating so much my clothes were soaked. Another time I was doing mild to medium activity and had sweat rolling down my arms and face. I never knew my ankles could sweat, but they do. I counted one day and lost count at 16 hot flashes... But like they all say, it will be worth it.

I am a 23 yr old mother of one. I have severe endometriosis and I let my doctor talk me into taking the LUPRON injection, without researching it first. My first week on the shot I started shaking severely and was always sick to my stomach. I now am in the second month of my first dose and I have no appetite what-so-ever, I am losing my hair, I swell in my knees, ankles, and stomach, I have severe mood swings, I am forgetful, and I only get about 4 hours of sleep a night (if that). Most days I hurt in the bend of my legs at the groin area and am unable to get off of the couch to play with my 3 yr old little boy. I now have to buy my clothes a size larger than what I wear because of all the swelling. Sometimes I shake so bad that I can't hold anything in my hands or even walk straight.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004. Began taking Lupron Depot in 3 month intervals for 13 months because of the advanced stage of the cancer before radiation treatment. Almost immediately, side effects occurred, to wit: hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, aggitation, severe headaches, ringing in the ears, dizziness, muscle and joint pain--particular in the neck, shoulders, elbows, knees and ankles--anxiety and panic attacks, bewilderment, night and day sweats for no apparent reason, high blood pressure and incidents of weakness accompanied by unexplainable general feeling of being ill. Ceased taking the Lupron in fall of 2004. I am still experiencing most (not all) of the side effects. Blood tests have shown the presence of the drug in amounts higher than expected still in my body however continuing to diminish. Good luck! Being strong willed is a must to endure many of the side effects delineated here. I anticipate I have 2 or 3 more years of hell before the Lupron dissipates from my body. "And this will pass..."
