Mood swings week following injections, slight hair loss, memory loss, headaches day of injection and couple days after, lack of concentration. Just had last (6th) injection about 11 days ago and started spotting about 5 days ago and cramping? Oh, also other major PMS symptoms, craving chocolate, salty things, very very irritable, and acne on chin area, neck, and shoulders? It caught me off guard a little considering I haven't had a period in almost 5 months. I assumed the Lupron would still be in my system? Called dr. and of course all they could say is "sometimes this happens and to wait till I come in for my follow up appt."? No explanation as to why? I was under the assumption that I wouldn't start AF or have these symptoms for another month or two. However, even with all of these side effects I have no pain, YET. I'm hoping for the best, also hoping I don't get divorced soon from all the moodiness!

I have just underwent my 7th Lupron shot (I am starting the six month series over again), and I thank God that Lupron exists. I have had no terrible problems while taking it, other than the expected side effects (headaches, hot flashes, moodiness, rash and aches/pains) but none even compare to the horrific experience I had my my endo. At this point, I have had no abdominal pain, no period means no endo, and I am happy to say my quality of life has improved 10-fold since beginning Lupron. If you are considering Lupron, don't just take the horror stories into consideration, view the facts from both sides.

Sucess Story:

I am a 38 yo female, I have severe endo, I had a bowel re-section because it ate through a portion of my small intestine. I just received my 6th shot today, and my doctor and I agreed that I am going to start the regiment over next month. (another 6 mths)

I have actually had an okay experience with Lupron. I have had hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, and bone/joint pain and headaches. These symptoms seem to occur more toward the end of the month within a week or so of getting my next shot.

The symptoms are not fun, but neither are they unbearable. I have a good quality of life and the symptoms do not interrupt that in any way.

Additionally, sorry if this is TMI, but I have had no drop in my sex drive/urges, things just take a little longer to get going. My partner understands this and is most supportive.

Every day I take:
Multi-vitamin
Calcium/Magnesium supplement: 1000 mg Calcium/667 mg Mag
Omega 3 Fish Oil: 1000 mg
Vitamin B12: 100 mcg
I drink quite a bit of soy milk also

Good luck to those of you who are either on it, or considering it. My empathy to those who are having a horrific time with it.

I just finished my last shot in my six month treatment of Lupron. My doc tells me he wants me to do another six months because he has never seen anyone with so few side effects. I haven't had any hot flashes, very few headaches, I'm a little achy now and then, and my moodiness is tolerable. The only thing I would like to change is my ability to get a full night's sleep. I always feel exhausted and like I don't have too much energy. My question, however, is about blood pressure. Since I have started the Lupron, my pressures have consistently been 20 points higher than normal and it's getting to the point where my doc says I need to do something (like hypertension meds) for my own safety. Does anyone else have this from the Lupron? I am 27 and the Lupron has completely taken away my endo pain!!

I am 38, no kids. I am 1 week away from my 3rd Lupron shot for endo., diagnoised after lapro. I have the night sweats and hot flashes, extreme moodiness, mild pelvic pain, but the worst for me so far is the memory loss. I am literally drawing a blank on things.. this is scary. I find writing things down keeps me on track. No headaches or depression or muscle pain as of yet, hopefully none is coming. Thanks for hearing me out.

I am on my eighth month of lupron and have experienced all of the aforementioned side effects including vaginal dryness, decreased sex drive, moodiness, hot flashes and insomnia. I received my eighth shot about a week ago and I am feeling extremely anxious and paranoid. I am so emotional and feel like I am completely going crazy. Up to this point I have been a trooper and have complained little about my side effects. While they have been at times, inconvenient, they have not been completely intolerable. I am now at my wits end. I am really getting scared.
I have been on premarin for a few months. Should I double up on it (as my doctor recommended to aaid me with my sleeping troubles)? Will it help with the craziness I feel? Needless to say I am not getting the ninth shot (I have been prescribed 9 months of treatment). I want this stuff out of me as soon as possible. Any idea how long it will take me to regain a bit of sanity if I don't get any more of this drug??

I feel I need to add my story for some balance on Lupron. I'm 53 and am finishing my fifth month on Lupron. I began taking it because I'd been anemic and bleeding very heavily (because of a fibroid) for quite a while, and I wanted to avoid a hysterectomy.

Mine is almost all good news. My hematocrit (I think that's the word, it measures iron) went from 30 to 40 after a couple of months, most bleeding gone although the verdict is still out on whether I've hit menopause and can expect to not resume bleeding when I go off Lupron (this month or next). My side effects have been almost non-existent. Occasional headaches, some fogginess, absolutely no weight gain (and I'm the type that gains weight easily), sleeping well, and normal moodiness. I fully expected hot flashes especially since I'm almost at menopause anyway, but haven't had any. I do get warm sometimes, but no intense heats or sweats. I exercise (walk or lift weights) almost every day so maybe that had something to do with it.

I think it's important that a woman considering Lupron know that it's not always grim news when you receive the shots, and that even if you do experience some of the side effects, it is better than the effects we are currently suffering (i.e. pain from endometriosis, excessive bleeding). I don't think women should reach for Lupron readily, but in some cases it is the best option.

I've been on Lupron for about two weeks now. I'm preparing for IVF egg donation. I've had some hot flashes, forgetfulness, and quite a bit of moodiness. No headaches, no dizziness, no pain, no sleep disturbances. Overall, the side effects are barely noticeable. However, I only take 5-20ml per day.

Just to give some perspective - I'm 35 and have been on Lupron for a month now, for fibroids. I, too, was petrified after reading about all of the side effects. I know that some women have horrible problems from lupron, and I really feel for all of you who suffer from it. But it's important to remember that usually, the only people who will post in forums like this are those that have horrible problems - the ones who do fine on the drug rarely, if ever, post anything. So it's easy to get a skewed picture.

After one month, the only side effect I've seen is a few mild hot flashes, mostly at night. A couple of times in the night, I'll have to pull the blankets off, then I go back to sleep. No big deal in my case. Otherwise, nothing - no weight gain, no excessive tiredness, no unusual moodiness, nothing. I'm hoping the next 2 months will be the same - and I think they will be.

I don't want to downplay the negative effects some people have had - I know they're real. But not everyone suffers from them, and I wanted to post for people who are considering starting Lupron, so that they can see it's not all bad.

Obviously Lupron isn't right for everyone, but I have a positive experience with it to report. Initial (normal and expected) moodiness for approximately one week after each injection. Hot Flashes (treated with Premarin). Insomnia (again, treated with Premarin). Slight weight gain (6 pounds). Decreased libido with vaginal dryness. I've been receiving Lupron injections since Dec. 2001 (it's now Feb. 2003) to treat my severe PMS. The quality of my life has improved significantly and I'd rather deal with the few side effects from Lupron than the PMS. Unfortunately, this cannot be a continued long-term treatment and I'm currently faced with having to make a decision - total hysterectomy or ?

I've had Fibromyalgia for a long time. The #1 thing, is to have a positive attitude. Get info. about this disease. Get moving. Start out slowly. Do what you are able to do, nothing more and nothing less. I know its hard to keep moving. But if u dont, ur stuck with no life. I've been down this road too. Get some physical therapy. I have found, for me, that pool therapy is the best. I dont have as much gravity to deal with in a swimming pool. The water seems to hold u up. Get involved in som...

Hi Guys I have been suffering from chronic daily headaches since March 2006. Have been to 4 neurologists and they all confirm that there is nothing seriously wrong with me neurologically and they put it down to stress. I have tried herbal remedies, acupuncture, body stress release, dietician, exercise, pain killers, massage, physio, posture modifying appliance, bean bags and oils, ice pack, pilates, chiropractor, daily meds like inderal and trepiline and still, nothing has been able to give me long te...

I was given the fantastic news that my body doesn't like itself anymore. I don't know when it had a falling out, but all I can say is the course of action to remedy this disease is CRAZY. Taking meds that have more side effects and the restrictions on my daily life, because of the meds, no driving, no salt, no sugar, and little fat in my diet, very little sun. Bathing in skin moisturizer, moodiness, mental confusion, can't work, but expected to continue cooking for family, and cleaning. Which I guess ...

My partner insists that he's not drunk & he's just very tired. He has slured speech, incoherent, unsteady on his feet & drops off to sleep in the blink of an eye. Could it be something other that drink related? or is he just pretending to himself he's ok?
