After taking only 2 100 mg. tablets, I had a fever of 103, body aches and nausea. I attributed this to the bladder infection and continued the medication. After 5 tablets, I began to itch from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet and stopped taking the medication. I returned to hospital and blood tests revealed abnormal liver functions.
Please do not take this medication. It should be removed from the market.

I've been taking Macrobid for almost 2 days now for a UTI and I now have severe, burning, watery diarrhea, stomach pains that almost feel like extreme heartburn, back pain, nausea and recently tonight I have just began spotting. I am 2 months pregnant and I am pissed! If I miscarry and this medication turns up to be the reason why, god help me because my husband and I have been trying to have a baby since last year.

I was prescribed Macrobid for a suspected bladder infection. After the first dose, I was so exhausted I could barely move. My kids were with me, and I basically passed out on the couch. I felt drugged, but did not know why and couldn't rationalize that it was from the medication. So, I took my second dose--which was a big mistake. The headache can best be described as a hatchet migraine, followed by vomiting and nausea, swollen throat and dizziness. I stopped the medication two days ago. The headache and most other symptoms disappeared within 24 hours after I stopped. THE WORST MEDICATION EVER. The lab came back that I didn't even have a UTI! But now I do--thanks to Macrobid! DO NOT TAKE MACROBID. The FDA should take it off the market.
