I just got it yesterday but after reading this I won't take it. I wanted it to lose some water.
A GREAT blood pressure pill that I started on after four other ones gave me bad side effects, is Clonidine. My father has been taking it fr 50 years. He started as a newbie in the Army. I told my doctor I wanted to try it. She said that it would make me sleepy, so I went to another doctor and he put me on 0.1 ML, the lowest dose - and that if it made me sleepy - then to take it at night. It is great.
Clonidine treats all kinds of things but is great for lowering BP.

I have been taking maxide for over 10 years. Shortly after I began taking it I developed a rash on my face that was more like loss of pigmentation. Over the last several years it has gotten worse and began to spread to other parts of my body. I have had 8 biopsies, seen at least 12 different dermatologist all with no resolution. Recently I stopped taking maxide for two weeks because of a problem with my potassium level and miraculously, the pigmentation on my face began to come back. Unfortunately, I was put back on maxide to control my blood pressure because it was very effective and my doctor didn't want to experiement with too many other medications if it was working.
Anyone else had anything like this happen?

My doctor added Maxide to lower my blood pressure. He said
it could cause some muscle cramps, if it did, just take half the pill.
I have had hair loss. I have numbness and tingling in my hands , legs and feet usually in the morning, when I wake up.
A couple of days ago, I noticed a red rash on my left ankle. It looks like I have been bitten by something, but it doesn't itch.

My Mother's physician wants to prescribe Maxide.
However, my mother was recently hospitalized due to low sodium level of 119, caused by the HCTZ that was included with her blood pressure RX of Lisinopril. The HCTZ helped lower her blood pressure. However, she has been experiencing leg and feet pain and cramping for four months. Recently had an onset of a terrible headache and vomitting whereby she ended up in the ER. After not having the HCTZ with her blood pressure RX she had extreme swelling in her feet, ankles and lower leg area and her blood pressure has elevated. She had an EMG and now has neuropathy. Hospital physician instructions: Do not take HCTZ. Do not think Maxide is the thing for Mom to take either. Any recommendations?

Maxide (generic) lowered my blood pressure to below normal. It caused me to be weak and experience rapid heart rhythm. I felt as though I had been running when I was sitting still. It was great for my swelling, but do they insist on medicating us rather than telling us what is really wrong???

This drug although it works great on blood pressure truly, truly put me in pain. I experienced the most horrendous muslce cramps of my life. When I say this I am not just talking about a few. I had muscle spasms (charlie horse) in almost every single muscle of my body from my neck to my abdomen to my entire back to my feet and fingers. It was terrible.

I am now on my second trial of Maxide. The first time I took it for 3 months and developed extreme anxiety and agitation. I quit at the end of the 3rd month and those symptons completely disappeared. My blood pressure stayed within the normal range until about 4 months after quitting taking Maxide. It skyrocketed again so I tried three other BP meds: all created either insomnia or depression or did not lower my BP. I have now gone back to Maxide because it does lower my blood pressure but am experiencing extreme irritability, depression , and leg cramps.

Are there any natural alternatives to taking Maxide? I'm sick of having to check with my docotr just to get a prescription refilled after six months! When I try to stop taking Maxide, I get fluid retention in various places of my body, like knees, elbows etc. Very painful. I take Maxide just for lfuid retention, not for blood pressure.

I never saw much effect of taking the generic version of Maxide. Perhaps less blurred vision while taking it. This last year I gained weight and my heartbeats have gotten worse in regularity. So I stopped it currently to see what happens, and am monitoring blood pressure, as well as dieting and excercise. just tring to see if calcium and potassium levels are out of balance.
