I have been taking maxide for over 10 years. Shortly after I began taking it I developed a rash on my face that was more like loss of pigmentation. Over the last several years it has gotten worse and began to spread to other parts of my body. I have had 8 biopsies, seen at least 12 different dermatologist all with no resolution. Recently I stopped taking maxide for two weeks because of a problem with my potassium level and miraculously, the pigmentation on my face began to come back. Unfortunately, I was put back on maxide to control my blood pressure because it was very effective and my doctor didn't want to experiement with too many other medications if it was working.
Anyone else had anything like this happen?

I had been taking Maxide for a number of years when about 18 months ago, I started getting tired easily and tiredness soon turned into utter fatigue. I was diagnosed with a cyst on my pancreas. I am not an alcoholic and I had my gall bladder removed years ago. From the second the needle entered my pancreas, I became unconcious. Because I had had breast cancer in 1992, my doctor ordered a needle biopsy to rule out cancer. During that period, my husband believed that I was dying and that I wanted to die. He thought that I was aware of what was d. That lasted for two weeks, and when I woke up I was in the hospital with a drain in my stomach and receiving blood transfusions for the first time in my 70 years. On a routine visit to my gastroenterologist, I told him what had happened. When he looked at my list of medications, he was visibly upset and told me never to take another tablet because Maxide could have been the cause of the pancreatic cyst which took me to the edge of death.

I have been taking this drug for about 2 months. It's fabulous. I am starting to see the results of my edema going down. Very excited! I use this in conjunction with Norvasc to decrease my bp. These two medications are a great combo, you just need to find the right dosage for you!
