Metformin Hydrochloride ER side effects

I also have a severe cough that I suspect is a side effect. This is the 3rd time I have tried this med (for PCOS)....third time I have had this cough. The cough stops when I discontinue. The doctors think I am nuts because it is not a documented side effect.

Facial Hair.
Started taking six weeks ago....new medication. Taking for blood sugar issues.
I usually have the traditional small amount of blond wisps of facial hair - upper lip, eyebrows. NOW I have darkening hair with excessive growth. I've been growing dark hairs under my nostrils and above my upper lip. I have much more chin and neck (blond) hairs.
This drug is freaking me out. I don't want to be hirsute!
Also, diarrhea (more like brown pee)

Aside from this drug not working as it should have in lowering my blood sugar, when my doctor increased my dosage it made me have headaches violent mood swings. One minute I was crying, the next I was extremely angry and the next I just didn't care about anything at all. I have no history of bi-polar disorder, but that was I experienced on this drug. I quit taking it and I'm perfectly fine now. My blood sugars are exactly as they were before it was prescribed.

The side effect that I have is cough, cough, at night I cough all night
