I am 35 years old and I was put on Methylpred 4 mg for an allergic reaction to Sulfamethoxazole (septra). I broke out in bad red spots from head to toe. My doctor prescribed this medication for the reaction. I took the last of my 2nd day pills. Two hours later I woke from bed with a painful burn in the bottom of my feet and palms of my hands. It then went to my legs which I took a luke warm shower to see if that would help. I then continued to ad aveeno cream an didn't work, it then started to go through my body in 10-15 minute intervals in different parts of my body. Now when I itch it feels like I'm burning. I can't eat anything cause I have the taste of this pill in my system. This is the only side effect that I have been having with this medication. I noticed today the 3rd day of my pills that the red spots are starting to get lighter. I will never take this pill ever again.

I am an insomniac and this medicine has caused it to get worse. I have not slept since I started taking it and I am so tired but just can't sleep. I have had nausea, constipation, back pain, burning eyes and pain in my knees. I can't sit with my legs bent without have awful pain in my knees and when I lay with them straight they fall asleep. Has anyone had this problem? My heart races more then usual.

Took 2, 6day packs 4mg for 2 ruptured discs causing crippling back pain. Could not walk much at all or stand straight. Im 37 years old male, have always avoided any meds if possible.
Results:
Back pain went away after 10 days, along with good chiropractor visits, cold pack treatments throught the day and lots of lying flat on my back wearing a brace provided by chiropractor.
Side Effects:
-Sleepy during day, difficult to sleep at night.
-Slightly blurred vision.
-Constipated at times and loose at times, small amounts blood in stool three times.
-Frequent trips to urinate with uneven flow all the time.
-Have had slight occurances of heartburn.
-One week after 12 days treatment was over the pain returned more and more and I started to peel on my face without being in the sun, without redness and I have been well hydrated.
-Maybe depressed but may also be caused from needing to cancel scuba diving trip due to condition.

Starting to take 6 day pack again for returning pain. Wish me luck...thanks

I've now taken three 4mg tabs, and last night I had a cramp in my cramp and jumped out of bed. In addition, I sometimes suffer from arethmya (racing heart), and today I've already had 2 episodes of that, where normally it might happen to me once every 6 weeks. Is it possible this medication is causing that?

After taking this medication for about a week, I have been experiencing severe upset stomach, tiredness and severe, severe leg cramps in my calfs during the middle of the night that cause me to "try" to stand up and walk them off.

Well I have never taken this medication but my father did. He started the pack on a tuesday and by that friday and saturday my father was not himself. The medication caused paranoid delusions. The results.... suicide monday morning around 1am. I don't understand why a pharmaceutical company would not put that side effect on the warning label on the out side of the medication?

I was precribed this medication for lower back pain that went down my leg. I took it for one day (6) tablets as precribed. I had trouble sleeping that night, but thought it was stress related, but I now find other people had this problem. Also, the next morning I took the one tablet as prescribed and broke out in a rash on my face, neck and chest, plus I had feelings of needles in my arms and was hot all over similar to hot flashes. I will not take any more.

I am taking Methlypred for an allergic reaction. I was initially given Prednisone (which I had taken before with no serious side-effects other than insomnia) and had a fairly severe reaction. The methylpred does seem to be clearing up the allergy problems. The main side effects so far seem to be an occasional tingling, itchy feeling and belching shortly after taking the medication.

My son had all four wisdom teeth pulled yesterday and I started him on Methylprdnisolone the following morning. He had taken 3 pill as directed and I notice his face, limbs and back have large red spots. They are not hives. The size is the size of a your palm of your hand. Should I call his doctor or stop the medication?

My doctor prescribed Methylpred for post operative swelling. Mid-way through day one (of the 6 day course of treatment), I began to have the 'shakes'....... I seemed to become hypersensitive to pain and was unable to rest. In fact I found myself pacing and very restless. If I tried to sit, I would feel compelled to shake my foot....... Very disconcerting.

The following morning when I saw my doctor for my post-op visit, I mentioned my symptoms. Though I likely didn't need to; I was shaking and trembling so badly. He said my reaction was not uncommon and suggested that I skip 'day 2' and commence with 'day 3' level of medication. If the shaking was still bad and inhibiting me from sleeping; to skip to 'day 5'.

I have done so. I'm still shaking though perhaps not as badly. I can discern little inprovement in my swelling. Though I am continuing to use ice packs as he also directed me to do.

Over all I can't objectively say that this has helped my swelling or the expected discomfort cause by it. I will try to following through with the next several pills of Methylpred as my doctor suggested. I'm home now and my husband and I can sort of settle in for the next several days and moniter my situation.

I'm scheduled for my next post-op visit (to remove stitches) in 10 days. I anticipate that by then most of my swelling will have diminished considerably.

Personally I have to wonder if for post operative swelling; if the side effects I'm experiencing are worth whatever benefit the medication my offer.

My doc prescribed methylpred for a blocked inner ear. I read these side effects and was nearly scared off from taking it. After some more research, I decided to start the 6 day, 4mg/tab dosage. Absolutely no problems whatsoever and my ear is better. I was very careful to take the medication on a full stomach.
