Metronidazole side effects

I took this medication for 7 days 2 times a day for bacterial vaginosis. I thought I was pregnant!!! I am always regular each month and on this medication I got my period 3 days early! It was thought to be implantation bleeding because it was very light etc. All except it lasted 8 days my period only last 4 days. I believe this medication messed my cycle up for the month. I just got the results from a blood test I am not pregnant!!!? It's got to be from the antibiotic. Has this ever happened to any one????

six months ago my dentist prescribed 500 mg and 500 mg of penn every eight hours for five days,, along with vicodin for a horribly painful gum infection in my root canal. To this day I wonder if I will fully get rid of all side effects of the Met. After 3 days I was soo dizzy and with extreme blurred vision, the pharmacist and dentist office stated it could not be the ant but the vicodin. I stopped the vicodine and just stayed with Motrin. I had the worst vertigo and blurred vision you can imagine, I felt like an infection was now in my brain, (yet was not) I felt like I had a toxic infection in my body. I would fight to concentrate mentally, I was very fatigued and sick feeling. This went on long after the tooth pain. It took about three months of strining for mental concentration, dizziness, toxic feelong to begin to go away. By the fifth month I could finally feel my personality had returned. Yet my vision has not and has only gotten worse. My dizziness is every so often. During the first months I kept running back and fourth to my doctor with no avail. It was the eye doctor MD that said he was very suspicious that I had an toxic allergic reaction to the Met. Between doctor visits, eye doctor visits, cat scan I have run my medical bills high. I am extremely worried about going blind.
It has now been six months - my health, my vision, my family, my job, my personality have all suffered from this.... Don't take this drug............

I was prescribed Metronidazole for an abscess in my gum, I only managed to take them up to day 2. I had terrible dizziness and basically felt very drunk, (if only I was). By the end of the day I was unable to drive back from work and was instructed by my gp to stop taking the pills immediately as these side effects are very common. Never again will I take them!!!!

Yesterday I was prescribed a course of 21 tabs x 200 mg x 3 times a day by my dentist for a tooth infection. I took 2 yesterday and by last night I noticed an itchy rash on one arm. I have not taken any more having consulted my dentist today and he has prescribed me am alternative anti-biotic. Despite having only taken 2 tablets, 24 hours later I am covered in a rash which has made my skin lumpy and very itchy.

My daughter lost consciousness and went into respiratory distress...all because her doctor and her pharmacist did not stress the importance of NOT taking this drug while drinking alcohol. I looked throughout many drug books (I'm a nursing student) and there is VERY LITTLE regarding warning against taking this medication with alcohol. Get with it guys! This drug can be very dangerous! If my daughter's friends had not called 911, she very well would NOT be here today!

i was given metronidazole after having an abscess removed from my gum. I was rushed to hospital 2 days later and had septicemia but the tablets have left me with numbness in my fingers. Whilst in hospital it went right down to my wrist. I am now worried that the feeling will not come back.

I had horrible, horrible pains in my intestines from taking metronidazole 500 mg 1 pill 2 times daily. i felt like i was going to die and so far the pain has lasted for an hour. I have taken this before and it did the same thing. It’s a horrible drug. You’re better off using natural things such as garlic pills and apple cider vinegar baths.

not too sure if this is a side effect of taking this medicine, but thought I would ask if anyone else has experienced this after taking it. My now 4 year old son had a case of Giardia (aka Beaver Fever) when he was 3 years old, he was hospitalized for 5 days or so. He was put on Metronidazole for 7 days, he got better and haven't had the Giardia since...but we started to see intolerance to certain foods, and now behavioral problems...basically symptoms of Autism/Sensory Integration disorder. I can pin point these issues to occurring after the hospitalization and the taking of this medicine....perhaps it isn't the medicine but the Giardia that caused it...

within two days of taking metronidazole for a gum infection i had horrible pins and needles the worst crushing headace ive ever had anxiaty panic attacks and couldt sleep for a week this medicine is the nastiest side effects ive ever had .i just got back from hospital where ive been for two days as my symptoms were so bad docs thought the infection in my gum had traveled to my brain, but after a ct scan,lumber puntcture, blood tests all came back clear they decided it was the tablets. it will take me a long time to get over this , i would advise anyone with a history of panic attacks,depression or headaches not to take metronidazole.

I was prescribed Flagyl 5oom.g TID for 10 days;I had sleeping problem start from the beginning of the course.I had dark color urination.I couldn't sleep for 5 days.I took only for 5 days and stopped the medicine.After 5 days, I started having fever and back pain even after 10 days i stopped medicine.

Take it with a huge meal that has both creamy diary to coat the stomach and meat to delay the digestion of the food - a meal that stays in the stomach long enough until the drug is absorbed will help.

I have no side affect using Metronidazole

My perscription is to take two tablets, three times a day after the second dose I have such a painful stomach ache! I have a feeling that the pain is actually in the lining of the stomach ......

I've only taken three pills so far and am experiencing a lot of lower back pain. My prescription is one pill twice a day for seven days. I couldn't eat my dinner last night. I also had HALF of a cup of coffee this morning and was wound up for at least four hours. I felt like swearing off caffeine for the rest of my life. What a terrible feeling. If you feel jittery on this medication... DO NOT drink coffee!

I only took 5 400mg metronidazole tablets and had severe lower back pain headaches lightheadedness etc had to stop taking tablets. 2 weeks later still having pain but not so severe. How long does it take for the side effects to go away?

This medication is gross..It's so much just to get it down, they are too big and just isnt right..It causes me to feel sick to my stomach..I dread taking these pills.

I have not taken any medication in many years as I am generally healthy. After taken these large nasty pills, I feel very dizzy, spacey and sleepy. I have been prescribed 500 mg. for 7 days and since day one I've felt this way. This is day 4 and I feel very sleepy. The taste is HORRIBLE and everything I've eaten since than has a metallic taste.

Hello! This medication gives me pain in the right side,back pain and Horrible taste in my mouth around 1 to 2 hours. I am really tired and just plain don't feel right with this medication. I am almost done with it.But I won't take it again. Oh and it causes sever constipation.

I've taken metronidazole twice in the past year for intestinal parasite. 700 mg, 3x a day for ten days.

I have an awful metallic taste in mouth, dark brown urine, lost of appetite, fatigue, and headaches. Some days are better than others.

I have found that drinking beverages at room temp with out ice helps along with hot food. Something to do with the temp of the food brings out the metalic taste.

I also chew gums and suck on peppermint candy to mask the taste.

I have been taking Metronidazole for 5 days and experienced black stools, diaharria, and fatigue along with back pain.

nausea, vommitting, metalic taste before swallowing pill, loss of apetite (i know i mis-spelled, sorry) then still monezuma's revenge, and swollen irratible gums........ My perscriptiion is 2 pills two times a day I have 2 days left . I already called my pharmacy he said youre sucestible , really wow, in order to get better i have to feel worse than i originally did in the first place........

I have had numbness in my fingers and toes and also black stools after taking 4 days of treatment I dont know wheteher I shouls stop taking this med.

i have recently started taking this medication and while taking it i have had really bad stomach cramps and i have started bleeding badly.

I have gotten a horrible yeast infection while taking this medication as well as severe fatigue. I would not willingly take this medication again. It has the worst side effects out of anything I have taken before. I also got really bad pack pain and dizziness.

this medication makes me feel sullen, tired, and jittery/anxious. I HATE IT.. I strongly suggest you try to use something else.

I have been taking metronidazole 500mg. every 12 hours, 2 a day, Past 4 days I have been taking this medication, I have had no side effects what so ever. It don't taste nice, but what medicines do? This medication has helped me from cramping and adominal pain. I get a little sleepy but at least I have some rest.

I got a really bad rash. My back and chest were covered in little red spots that were more painful than itchy.

I have never had a seizure.....I had one within an hour after taking metronidazole.

While taking this medication, I grow a bit fatigue, and while trying to swallow it, the taste is disgusting, and I attend to gag the pill out of my mouth, and the pill turns to moosh. I was originally prescribed Flagyl, but my lovely pharmacy friends substituted this Metronidazole for Flagyl.

i have experianced tingling in my back, hands, neck, and legs, pain in in back and legs, a feeling of clumsiness, a aching stomach, with dhioreah. Feeling sick, slight pin in chest.
I also drank alchol with these tablets, will it have made my side effects worse

my side effects are feelinf sick to my stomach and fatigue. Is this normal and I have high blood pressure. I was wondering if they had anything in common
