Everyone's story sounds like mine in a way. I really thought I was going crazy. I had the Mirena but in 2 months after I had my son (April 2008). At that point I had lost 20 pounds of the weight I had gained from pregnancy. As soon as I got it in I started gaining weight slowly and 30 pounds later here I am. I worked out like crazy and cut my eating and still nothing and the crazy thing is that people kept telling me to cut my portions (if I cut it any more I would have stopped eating all together). I talked to my doctor at my 6 month check up and at my 12 month check up and she assured me that it was nothing and that the Mirena could not cost that and off course I should eat less.
I have had every symptom in the book and have just thought I was crazy. Hair loss, depression (it was so bad I had to see a therapist and didn’t trust myself around my kids), longer periods (went from 4-5 days to 10-14 days), discharge between periods, cramps, back pain, and today I started passing clots so big your would have thought I was having a baby and oh yea, acne like I am 14 again.
All I can say is I am done and cant wait till this mess is out of me. I rather be pregnant than deal with this.

HI had the mirena for 4 weeks. It was the worst 4 weeks of my life. The insertion hurt so bad I felt like I was delivering a baby. They had to dilate me 8cm. During the 1st 3 weeks I felt tired, lazy, depressed, no sex drive which is totally unusual, very short tempered. The 4th week I broke out in this rash on my thighs and it has progressed to my calves and both my elbows. It itches and burns. I had the mirena taken out which was only 5 seconds and non painful. but this rash is progressing and not sure how to treat it. I have a dermatologist appt. on Thursday so will post after I hear what he says. One crazy thing is 2 spots on my leg have the exact formation of what the mirena device looks like-

I've had the Mirena since June 2008. I have NOT STOPPED bleeding since then!! After 3 months, the doctor told me that my body probably needs more time to adjust, after 5 months the manufacturer told me to allow 6 months for my body to adjust, and now 7 1/2 months later I'm still bleeding!! I had an ultra sound last week and the doctor claims all seems normal. HOWEVER...I now have a 6 cm cyst on my ovary...and the doctor (who is not concerned!) told me that it is from the Mirena, but not necessarily bad! What? Following the ultrasound, I experienced (and still am experiencing) extremely heavy bleeding (w/a lot of clotting...sorry, I know that's gross!). Nobody (except me) seems concerned!! She wants me to come back in 6 - 8 weeks to have another ultrasound to see if the cyst is growing!! HUH? I'm making an appointment to have this crazy thing removed. I came upon this site hoping to find some information on Mirena lawsuits...If I have a 6 cm cyst on my ovary, I suspect I am going to have additional problems going forward.

Other effects: Blurry vision, Cramps, and these 'ice pick like' stabbing headache pains! (Maybe that's a migraine, but I've never had a Migraine before, so I don't know!)
