I have very little little sex drive since putting the Mirena in in early June 2008. I figured maybe it was the constant bleeding/spotting (maybe less then a week blood free days a month) for more than three months (i was warned but now am taking extra hormones to stop that, but still bleeding after two weeks). I've had very very frequent headaches and find myself taking painkillers 4 times a week, this is the most worrisome for me personally.
But a very big problem is that my husband can feel the strings during sex and finds it really uncomfortable, basically, session over straight away. I've had the strings shortened recently but it hasn't changed in his perception. Feel like we've given it a fair trial but Mirena has basically meant an end to our sex life, not just from me feeling rather uninterested in it and trying to avoid it, but also from him being seriously affected by it! It may be the position of my uterus.

Well I'm happy to say the initial side effects I've been feeling (nausea, cramping, spotting, loss of libido) are all gradually disappearing and tomorrow will be 4 wks since I had the Mirena inserted. I've changed my perception so far since my first post about regretting getting the Mirena and will just hope that I don't encounter other side effects later on. I did feel odd in the beginning but as of Monday this week I've been feeling much like my old self. I still have some cramping but not as bad as in the beginning and I think my body is just getting used to it as I've never had kids or have been on hormones.
I've read around in other forums and have found many women to be quite content with their Mirena's. It's probably just like all the other drugs and meds out there in society - everyone reacts differently and not every drug is good for every person.

I have had the Mirena in for about 8 mos.I love having no periods. But that is the only good thing I have found!I am 5.7" and weigh 186.I was 145 before I had my son. After I had him I was going to the gym every day and even had a personal trainer. It seems No matter what I eat good or bad I cannot lose the weight.I thought maybe it was just because I had a child, but Ive found other woman are having the same problem.Just cannot lose a pound.Until they get it removed. Before I got the Mirena I was already pretty emotional but now its ten times worse! And the acne, OMG!!! I have it so bad I am using face stuff everyday nothing is working.I have it on my face, arms, back and butt.Absolutely hideous.I feel like crap.I cant even walk in front of my husband without thinking he is thinking something bad about how I look. This has upped the depression,I am feeling like everything is screwed up in my life (but its not) its just my perception right now.I have found that the doctors look at me like I am lying to them, like its all in my head.I should print everyones blogs and show them to my doctor! It makes me mad that the medical industry will present something so perfect and screw how it effects peoples lives.I had to pay cash for the freaking thing too! That makes me even more pissed off.I want this thing out so bad.Now my husband and I are talking about vasectomy because its much easier then a tubal. Its sucks that we had to come to that.
