Neurontin and depression

I have noticed that neurontin has caused me to feel better emotionally and mentally. It has remarkably decreased my depression and anxiety. I am the type of person who has intense fear about things in life and neurontin seems to take it away. It gives me the courage to "get things done". I am a very hurt person and need this type of medicinal help. Yes, it does seem to make me very hungry; therefore, increasing weight, but a person doesn't have to give into their hunger. It makes me feel like life has meaning again. Yes, I have noticed dry mouth, but I just simply drink water. It seems to intensify my libido to no end. I want to have intercourse all the time when I'm taking neurontin; however, I have a hard time climaxing. It takes me at least 3 to 4 hours to have an orgasm, but it feels pleasant until then. At this point, I have nothing, but good things to say about neurontin because I have been a girl who has been severely depressed with intense anxiety and this seems to help me out tremendously. I truly believe that Jesus has sent this medicine to me in order for me to get through these difficult times in life. Yes, my hair has seemed to be falling out a little, but I have attributed it to the stressful event of my ex-boyfriend beating me up. I have often been told that the closer you get to Jesus, the harder the devil tries to hurt you, but the devil is not going to win my soul. There is no shame in admitting that we need medicinal help at times or even for the rest of our lives. That is what doctors and medicine is for. Every drug has their side effects. Everything needs to be done in moderation. I will continue to post when I notice other side effects. This is nice to have other people share in their good and bad experiences with neurontin.

i have been on neurontin for nerve pain in my legs due to vasculitis for a few weeks now. i have only noticed a small increase in appetite. my eyesite seems to be out of focus, but its so bad anyway that i have no idea if its the neurontin or just my eyes, and minor headaches i had no pain relief either........absolutely no improvement at all. my doctor just raised my dose from 900 mgs a day to 1200 the other day. still no pain relief but i am now getting a bit dizzy. i guess we will see what happens!

mood swings, short term memory loss, extreme sleepiness, edema, light flashes, constant ringing in ears that varies in tone, depression, stomach pain, flu like body ache, headaches, ear ache, continual nasal congestion, weight gain, constipation, dry & flaking skin & hair

I'm a female I think of sex but can never climax anymore no matter what my husband and I do, before it was all we could do to stop.

my dr gave me this med for pain and depression, well the other night my husband found me walking out in the snow with bare feet and i do not even remembr it i am not taking it ever again any dr giving it should face charges

Last November I was hospitalized and the psychiatrist completely changed my previous meds, which included Neurontin, and started me on some new ones I had never taken before. With this change I noticed a decrease in my mobility and an increase in my Fibromyalgia symptoms. It became so bad that I could barely raise my arms to wash my hair. I was so depressed. I was like a jelly fish in pain. So I went on the Fibromyalgia network and searched for what psychiatric medications I might have been on that would have caused this dramatic change in me. Neurontin was the missing link. The health insurance I had changed it's policy while I was off of Neurontin and I had to get a prior approval for them to pay for the prescription. They wouldn't accept it. Day after day I sank deeper into depression as the pain and the weekness kept me from physically being there for my daughter or for my boyfriend. However, this time, my depression brought me to a happy ending, I became hospitalized and this time the insurance company approved the prescription due to the fact that I had "decompensated" since being off of Neurontin. I guess the moral of the story is, for pain and for illnesses like Fibromyalgia, Neurontin is highly beneficial. If you have something like Fibromyalgia, talk with your doctor. I didn't know how beneficial it has been to me these last three years until I was off of it. I probably has helped my moods for I am also bi-polar, but I notice it more for my Fibromyalgia. I was taking Neurontin for four days after I tried to commit suicide and it supose to help with my depression. I was suppose to continue to take it but my insurence wont cover it if anyone can help me find a way to get help to pay for it I would be grateful.

I have taken neurontin in the past after being diagnosed as bipolar. It caused my depression to worsen and I became suicidal I also gained 100 pounds. For those being treated for irritable bowel syndrome and or depression a wheat allergy can cause both symptoms. I stopped eating all wheat products and no longer have IBS or depression. Also of interest for people with joint and muscle pain, there is a chemical in white potatoes, tomatoes, green peppers, and eggplant that can make pain worse.
