Last night I took Niaspan for the first time. I took it at 9:30 pm and then went to bed. At 12:30 am I woke up suddenly. My whole body was on fire. My nose was all congested and I felt like I could not breathe well. I got out of bed and looked in the mirror to see if I was red, thinking that I was having a flushing sensation, but saw no redness. I sat up for about 30 minutes and continued to experience the burning sensation. My mouth felt very weird also, like a tingling sensation The burning sensation was not just on my face, it covered my whole body. After this 30 minutes I began to have severe chills. I went back to bed and covered up. I began to shake and my teeth began to chatter. My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. At times I would have to sit up just to breathe. The shaking part went on for another 3o minutes. It stopped just as suddenly as it all started. Through out the remainder of the night I did not sleep well. This was the most horrible experience that I have ever had.

I was given the fantastic news that my body doesn't like itself anymore. I don't know when it had a falling out, but all I can say is the course of action to remedy this disease is CRAZY. Taking meds that have more side effects and the restrictions on my daily life, because of the meds, no driving, no salt, no sugar, and little fat in my diet, very little sun. Bathing in skin moisturizer, moodiness, mental confusion, can't work, but expected to continue cooking for family, and cleaning. Which I guess ...

My partner insists that he's not drunk & he's just very tired. He has slured speech, incoherent, unsteady on his feet & drops off to sleep in the blink of an eye. Could it be something other that drink related? or is he just pretending to himself he's ok?

I have suffered from Ulcerative Colitis now for three years. Although it is held at bay by medication I have found that I suffer from the same side effects each time the condition Flares up. These are: mouth ulcers, localised cysts in my groin, coldsores and fatigue. I'm just curious because the symptons seem to appear before the flare up...
